Despite the uncertainty of the current landscape, we were provided with frequent check-ins and guidance. Sean took the time to listen to us and to talk us through everything, and getting all our documents organized and uploaded felt pretty straightforward. Nicole and Sean were always impressively prompt in answering our questions and allaying our anxieties, and managed to get us rates that beat our local banks' by far! Our entire process was virtual, and we'd had little sense of what to expect before working with Sean. With larger institutions, I'd felt like just a number, but Sean really went above and beyond in helping us understand the process, as well as in advising us about how to proceed. Nicole and Sean definitely smoothed a complicated process, and we felt super lucky to work with them! Block has the best rates and the best service, and they really understand the NYC market.

We fell in love with it and applied ASAP - we heard back the next business day (Tuesday) with results that we were approved for the apartment we selected. Other brokers that we had dealt with cared more about being paid instead of helping prospective tenants, like us.

Thank goodness for Frank! As if finding a half-way decent apartment isn't hard enough, most of the…read morebrokers in NYC are totally useless and rude. Frank is the complete opposite--he is superbly polite, professional, and is obviously working to get you the best possible apartment even at a sacrifice to himself. My roommates and I started our search for a three-bedroom in the lower east side about two months before our desired move in date, which was either the first of May or June. In my experience, NYC apartments are taken in a matter of days, so it was kind of weird that we reached out to Frank for an apartment for two months in the future. But, he made it work. I'm sure he was busy with more urgent clients that needed apartments by the end of the month, but he always took time to keep us updated and inform us of new leads. We fell in love with our "dream" building, but ended up getting out-bid by another party for the only available apartment. So, while it was unlikely that we would get an apartment in that building, Frank really pushed for us in that he managed the building owner and co-brokered with another company to help us get it. Finally, we got the call that we got the apartment for a July move in. With the knowledge that the move in date wasn't ideal for us, Frank helped us negotiate with the owner and co-brokering company to lower the broker's fee (on top of only having to pay a one month security deposit). Overall, he's just a great guy with an admirable work ethic, so we really hope people will take advantage of what he has to offer so that his business does well. I know we'll definitely be referring our friends to him!

(Thank god there's usually more than one realty company showing an apartment.) I was able to make last-minute plans to see two of them and salvage the day somewhat. A tip for fellow out-of-state lookers: Make sure your real estate agent is responsive the whole way through. I didn't push harder because I didn't want to feel like a nag and I was stood up anyway.
