Mr Harry is the best driving instructor .He was teaching my son.My son exclaimed how he's never had such a accepting and patient teacher.

We had good experience after the first lesson and try to schedule more lessons. Here are the messages we try to reach out to book more lessons and Harry completely forgot. On the day that we supposed to take the next lesson, my instructor didn't show up and I called Harry to ask about it, he didn't pick up and say I need to text time. He didn't response to that either so I have to call again. Instead of apologizing for missing the schedule and wasting our time, he blame it on everything but himself. He tried to gaslight me and said he never schedule before he even ask for my information to look up the information. After I corrected him and said he should first apologize for having my schedule messed up instead of lying about it, he started to be loud and told me to be quiet before he can help me out (AFTER I TOLD HIM TO APOLOGIZE). And then he asked how much we paid for the lesson, we said we haven't paid because when we offered to paid for the appointment, this is how he respond (check the photo), then he said he doesn't owe us anything. He has been running his mouth the entire time and acting like he is the victim who try to do me a favor. If you are looking for someone who is master of gaslighting, lying and starting a road rage, Harry is your man. read more

I had Jack as my instructor, and it was a really great experience. I already have my license but needed a review because I hadn't been behind the wheel in over a decade. We started from scratch and I was able to bring my skills from "atrocious" (per my wife) to confident, relaxed and an overall positive. I took Harry Shill's class in 2015 when I was 15 years old. I recently remembered the atrocities that happened in his class and had to make a review to stop any minority from EVER taking his class. Here's my experience with the man; Upon my mother paying for the class, we had informed Harry that I had ADHD and severe anxiety issues. He made this a constant point in his lessons that it was "holding me back". He put things out of place to irritate me, and called me out in front of the whole class for 'not paying attention' while mindlessly doodling with my eyes on the video. He eventually took away my note pad for this, which inhibited my learning completely. He stopped the whole class multiple times and once even asked my friend how she would feel if "I didn't pay attention to you while she were telling me something really important." Which I can only assume was meant to embarrass me. Multiple times I tried to tell the man this was simply how I learned. Later in the year I was diagnosed with ASD (autism) as well. He was so focused on getting me "ready for the REAL world" and not "allowing" me to do things he assumed was me not paying attention that he ended up harming me. During one of my driving sessions, upon telling me to take a turn, he said "your driving is r*tard*d". I wish I could make that up, but it has scarred me mentally enough to never schedule another session with his business; and is the reason I don't have my license to this day. This man absolutely traumatized me. Also, he has both a brake system AND an acceleration pedal on his side of the cars. He would speed myself, and my classmates up without warning while we were learning how to drive. It scared the hell out of all of us. He WILL speed you up when you are unprepared and it is terrifying when you're learning to drive. As for everyone else saying he's racially charged, this is true. He constantly made jabs at the immigrants he taught, as well as told us (the homeschool class) that he made fun of our group in other classes for being homeschooled. He's outrageously unprofessional, and I have never felt as absolutely powerless and stupid in his class than I have anywhere else in my academics. I came home crying most days, and all I wanted was to learn how to drive. Do NOT give this man your business. Not worth your money, time, nor mental effort. It still disgusts me to this day how he treated me. read more

This for Harry, the driving instructor for behind the wheels training. I paid good amount of money for the training, not for chit-chat and listening to your professional and cultural opinions. Also, this guy is very racially and culturally biased and charged. At this point, I'm not sure if he is really as experienced as he claims to be, because Sir that's not what professional and experienced people do (certainly not the ones who are in public facing business). I am an immigrant and he didn't leave an opportunity to take jibe the Mexicans, Indians and Chinese people he have trained. Felt really bad about them. He also had some GREAT views about my culture as well. I was very nervous about my behind the wheel training from the beginning and this guy just made it worse. I told him I trust him (as in with brakes or accelerator) and this guy jabbed back saying, "..you shouldn't trust anyone. They can take advantage of you. Though, I am good guy!". What's that about. Finding a driving school with an opening that worked with my work schedule was tough, but I was super excited when I found out that Sunrise had an open spot! Big mistake. While I was able to learn to drive well enough to get my license (the only reason I gave it 2 stars), they were anything but professional. I had Mr. Jack as my instructor. I signed up for 8 lessons. I had no previous driving experience before starting the lessons. He was constantly late to lessons, even forgetting that we had a lesson at one point. And one of the times he was early because he got the time of our lesson wrong (despite it being at the same time every other time). He also had brought an observer once without asking first, despite the fact that I was paying for a private lesson. He was constantly texting and taking calls (not always work related even) instead of paying attention to my driving. He also made inappropriate comments, such as how I should dress up as Harely Quinn for Halloween and that he'd "throw himself out of the car if I didn't get the turn right". Overall, I learned to drive. But I dreaded my lessons each week. My students with sunrise Driving School has been excellent to school itself is really willing to stick with you and cover all the basics of beginners driving. In only eight hours I was able to go from no driving experience to getting my license and being able to drive on the highway within only a month. The driving instructors are really friendly and I willing to help you relax by striking up a conversation and making sure that you are comfortable while being on the road. I would recommend them to anyone who wants to learn how to drive in the shortest amount of time read more

This is the only review I've ever left, and I had to leave this review simply because of how horrible my experience with Harry was. The first lesson, Harry was very chatty. I assumed he was just getting to know me and seeing if I could talk while driving. This continued on every single lesson after this. He really likes to discuss his political and religious views, as well as family issues, during the lessons, which is not what I was paying for. I was paying to learn how to drive, but it seemed that half the time he wasn't even paying attention to how I was driving. After 8-ish lessons, I had no highway experience, couldn't park properly, and was not at all prepared for the driving exam. So I still don't have my driver's license, and I need to relearn everything Harry taught me because most of it was wrong or made no sense when applied to the real world. I know this is one of the only driving schools in the area that will cater to adults, but if you can avoid Sunrise and go elsewhere, do it. You'll probably get more for your money than you would with Harry, because you'll actually learn how to drive. Ultimately, he is incredibly unprofessional with his students and should learn how to balance the chit chat with teaching the people paying good money how to drive. read more

I had an excellent experience while working with Mr. Jack from Sunrise Driving School. He is an excellent instructor and an extremely helpful and accommodating person. Initially, when I had issues in understanding the nuances of driving correctly (as perfectly was a far cry then), Mr. Jack offered me to observe other students and vice-versa which helped me immensely. He took every measure to help me out in learning to drive responsibly and defensively. Under his tutelage I was confident and well versed enough in driving to pass the exam at one go. Don't go to this driving school. Harry (the founder) won't teach you anything but yells at you while chattering loudly and endlessly about other things. Knowing another instructor (who works for Harry) was 40 minutes late for my class, I called Harry and he asked "what do you want from me?" Excuse me? I just want to get a driver's license. And of course thanks to his "instruction", I failed the test. He always has reasons and excuses when he made mistakes. Please please just don't go. I signed up for the Class Option: 7 (Adult Driving Programs) with the Sunrise Driving School in July last year. Harry was my driving instructor and let me tell you, you can not go wrong learning how to drive with him. He is a chivalrous man, a great tutor with a good sense of humor. In addition, he is a great conversationalist who will make every one of your lessons very enjoyable, and always arrive timely before each one of your lessons. He lets you get comfortable with steering, acceleration, and braking, and then transition to reverse, parking, lane switch, stop sign recognition (2-way, 3-way, 4-way/all-way), freeway driving, and also parallel parking(!!!!!). This review is for Mr. Harry. It was a negative experience of learning to drive with him. I'm an immigrant and he asked me in the first session, why do you even need a driver's license in this country? Aren't you suppose to leave the US very soon? He expressed how disguised he's of the driving habits of the other students who are also from my home country. I had never been in the driver's seat before these lessons, but this man was disagreed with this fact and asked me multiple times to falsely confess him where, how and with whom I drove before. Finally, he agreed after five lessons that I was driving a car for the first time with him. During driving, he blames you if there are potholes on the street. During my very early sessions, he asked me to pull over the car and then shouted at me for at least five minutes for running over a pothole on a busy street. I did not see improvements in my driving under his teaching even after 7-8 sessions. Even after knowing my weakness, he never let me work on them. He rather asked me to drive on straight roads for much of the times in the sessions. Other than teaching a car, this man expresses (at most of the times) a lot of his political, cultural and religious opinions which you are not interested in while behind the wheel and of course when you are learning how to drive. He also expressed some illiterate judgements about my country and culture. (In one comment he literally said, "What do you guys even eat?", without even trying any cuisine from my country). All these facts are enough for me to strongly DO NOT recommend this instructor. Please be advised, I'm not rating this entire driving school, so if you have no option, ask for another instructor. read more

I had a very disturbing and traumatizing experience with Harry. I found him to be rude, disrespectful and prejudiced in several ways. A bulk of his adult students are immigrants and he never missed an opportunity to remind me of the same or take jibes about it. He thought that I had arrived to the country yesterday, which is really not the case. He reminded me how this is not the America he grew up in. During one of the most uncomfortable driving lessons with him, he imposed his views on all the possible controversial subjects on me without my consent. These included not just his political and religious views but also his thoughts on what the role of women should be in the society and in a household i.e. a woman must take a backseat and be inferior to a man. I felt completely bullied, harassed and wanted my driving lesson to be just over with. I was worried the whole time what he would say or do next. I felt unsafe. He had very negative ideas about my culture, religion and generalized his pre-conceived notions. This was truly a traumatizing experience for me. I would never recommend this driving school/Harry to anyone. Avoid at all costs. Zero stars to him and his driving school. read more

This is a very good driving school. Instructors are really nice and they give out good instructions on how to drive. I passed the DMV test right away after I finished all the classes and I feel comfortable driving by myself even though I've never driven before the taking the class. Very unprofessionally run business. Last minute cancellations. The owner who is also an instructor has a bad temper and flys off the handle in classroom settings. I will not allow my kid in a car with him for private instruction. Disorganized instructors who seem unfamiliar with material. Doesn't seem to be organized lesson plans. Very disappointed. The course is expensive and there are other driving school choices and recommend that you choose a different school. I wonder if the state of Illinois regulates these schools and if there are background checks on instructors. read more
