Although it's taken me quite a while to write a review of this place after a rather lengthy history…read moreof gas fill-ups here, though I thought I could get around filling up at a Citgo with my current car at first, when I desperately needed gas on New Years Eve and saw the sun setting near Staples Plaza (near Burlington Coat Factory in the former Caldor parking lot), I knew I had to reach out and fill up here. First of all: I still can't believe that this place still calls themselves "Citgo Caldor Plaza". Caldor has been closed since well before 1997 yet their receipts still name themselves after this plaza. Caldor went bankrupt and this plaza turned into a combined Burling Coat Factory & Dollar Tree location. The biggest thing now near this plaza (and sitting closer to this Citgo) is the Staples and Jo-Ann Fabrics location which does even better business. When I came here on the close of the afternoon on New Years Eve, it was drawing upon negative temperature readings. I felt cold. I mean, I had a jacket and pair of gloves, but the whole experience just wasn't like something I would have wanted in a million years. I had my GasBuddy card on me, so paying for gas was quick and easy and even better, knowing I'd be saving money with the transaction always made for a plus on the experience. I'm just sorry I couldn't have pumped more gas than I could. The pump stopped at $18.50, and so did I. I almost ran off without grabbing my receipt, but that was to be expected seeing the temperatures over the last couple days after this fill-up (I knew I'd have a receipt in my GasBuddy Wallet account, but receipts with this are always a great reminder for what I'd need to remember about when it came time for GasBuddy to withdraw from my bank.) I see a fair amount of people pulling up to these pumps, filling and driving away. I sometimes come here, and although most-often I end up having to pay with cash inside, when I do come with GasBuddy card in hand, I know I'm better off using the "pay-at-the-pump" method, so I'm glad it was working that day. I even sometimes spot other rideshare drivers showing up from "parking" in this gas station at times, so I know I'm in line with most other drivers in this respect. I won't get into history that much, but I do remember when I was a kid years ago, this was the only place where kids would get tootsie-roll samples that they no longer hand out. Now I do wish they'd return when I sometimes need a "pick-me-up". But then again, find me elsewhere for saving purchases on gas prices nearby at such stations called Speedway and Shell which tend to impress me more.

Like the convenience of this location (right by the Thruway) and that there are lots of pumps with decent prices. The coffee and sandwiches here are actually quite good. After coming back from an Uber run from Kingston to Kerhonkson, I chose to stop into this Valero…read morestation. Although I wasn't forced to (given the other nearby options) I chose to make life easy and come her instead. I didn't see much on the route in terms of gas, but decided to make things easy. However, once I got here, I didn't see any other cars here, nor did any other cars ever pull into this station (until after I got done and was about to leave). It was so freaky, it was if I could hear a pin drop; it was dead silent here. The transaction went pretty smoothly, given the conditions I was up against with my GasBuddy card in-hand...right up until I was ready to collect my receipt. The pump operated smoothly, although when I tried to click it off at 19.70, it stopped at 19.71 just as I hung up the nozzle and I didn't even realize it. The pump told me to go inside and collect my receipt. I didn't know about the price adjustment, but I won't worry about the penny. When I got inside, I saw no one in their either. The one employee they had working was sitting down just off the main room in a small (what looked to be) hallway (near I don't know what). However, as soon as I announced my intentions with my "Pay-at-the-Pump" transaction and the need for a receipt that the pump said to go inside for the receipt (pump 5), the employee came out and printed out my receipt. I took my receipt and headed out. I know Kerhonkson is this sleepy town with little to no action, but it was TOO quiet for this transaction to have gone over well.

Motorists beware, Monro in Saugerties is a predatory business. My car was damaged at this location…read morewhile it was left for minor repair (tensioner pulley and two belts). This work should have been a 1 day job and cost $500, but I was told by one of the acting manager's (Hailey) they had trouble getting the part and that it would be ready 3 days later at $900. When I picked up the car, after 4 more days of having to call them to find out if the work was done, there was a large scratch running down my passenger's side door and my keys were held ransom until I paid the price quoted for the work to be done at the initial estimated time of 3 days. I heard multiple excuses each day why the work was not done on time and heard everything from: ordered wrong part, the old part broke trying to remove it, and they needed two days to get a drill bit to drill out the piece that snapped off. When I arrived at the location to pick up the car I contacted the Saugerties PD, and there was nothing they could do for a civil matter other than make an incident report. The only manager whose name is posted on the wall (Markos Peratikos) is not present at this location and was not available by phone when the police were summoned over the dispute - despite having spoken to him the day before to report the issue. I was standing there, in the shop forced to call the absentee manager because the acting manager (John Smith) refused to call him claiming he was "in a meeting." This was around 7pm in the evening. I specifically requested Markos call me back when I spoke to him earlier in the day to let me know how much I would be charged when I showed up to pick up the car. I never received a call back after leaving multiple voice messages before going to the location which is about an hour from where I live as this was an unexpected pulley failure. This place is a scam and absolute nightmare. I would never go back to a Monro anywhere after this experience. It pains me to write this as I from the Hudson Valley and saddened to witness how badly the commercial incompetence crisis has blighted this area. I am considering filing a claim with the court. These people should be ashamed of themselves and give decent mechanics everywhere a bad reputation. Be warned, if you value your time and capital stay away from this place. Needless to say they are not registered with the better business bureau.
