Even more so, two of my older sisters have graduated from TKA brining my experience with the school up to eight or more years. The most popular and incredible aspect of The King's Academy is, without a single doubt, the teachers. Being a college-preparatory academy, TKA desires extreme academic excellence. This could result in a strict relationship with staff but nothing could be further from the truth. I have developed long-lasting and deep relationships with my instructors, bringing forth enriching, life-changing conversations and friendships. To anyone who not only wants a great education but a caring, mentoring, loving environment with educators, I would not hesitate to recommend TKA to the highest of my ability. As a long-time student I couldn't be happier with my education and the relationships I've developed with my teachers here at The King's Academy. Don't think twice about taking the time to visit an open house! -Michael

I worked hard with him prior to 5th grade to get him competent in solving simple expressions with fractions. By the time school started, all this learning had somehow leaked out of his sneakers and disappeared, to my distress as well as his teacher's. Because of his math reluctance and poor retention, my son would have been starting 6th grade with a significant disadvantage. His mother and I wanted to help him catch up using a teaching service. We researched Kumon and found that, although cheaper, the focus is on all subjects and not exclusively math, and that the procedure is to have pupils do huge stacks of worksheets with relatively little teacher supervision. This would not have been a good match for my son. Leena's Mathnasium is exactly not like Kumon in that the student-teach ratio is about 1 to 1. She begins with a thorough evaluation of the student's existing math capability, she customizes a training plan for the student, and she executes the plan. At the end of the program there is a no-charge second evaluation, and what do you know? My son's math skills had significantly improved. Lastly, Leena did a pile of extra work researching math topics taught in my son's new school district, and tried hard to motivate him and prepare him for his new school Excellent work, Leena. I would recommend your service to a friend without hesitation.

This is my long over due review for Little Tree in Sunnyvale. I have nothing else but great things…read moreto say about the school! My daughter Anastasia joined the preschool in 2023 when she just turned 3, and graduated TK this past June. The staff at Little Tree has greatly transformed her from a little clean slate into a bright beautiful girl inside and out! When we first joined, Anastasia went through 10 months of potty training at home, and still couldn't do potty properly by herself. Within one month, the preschool teachers successfully trained her so she got rid of diapers forever! Born into a multi cultural family, Anastasia understood three languages, but couldn't speak anyone very well when she first joined. Within a few months, we saw her Chinese and English vocabulary expanded drastically and she was able to communicate in multiple languages and switch channels seamlessly, thanks to Little Tree's immersive bilingual program! Later on, in the TK program, she was able to write and read basic materials in both English and Chinese, and do addition, subtraction within 100 at age 4! The language skill is just a surface and I couldn't describe enough about the friendly and family like atmosphere that immersed my child. The child learned to make friends, treat each other with respect, how to resolve conflicts with maturity, all thanks to Ms Faye and other teachers' efforts! My child slowly transformed from a sensitive, fragile toddler girl into a 5 year old with great sense of maturity and responsibility. She went on to give the commencement speech representing her class at their graduation ceremony! Every month Little Tree has some ceremonies or festivals, being birthday parties, Chinese holidays, American holidays, graduation parties. There are different themes of decors, paintings decorating the hallway every month. The kids and parents both got to learn different culture, history around the world. They also provided art, dance, clay making classes to choose from, so the kids get exposed to and learned to appreciate different forms of art from a young age. Little Tree also practices the best judgment when it comes to the children's safety and wellbeing. They provide healthy lunch and snacks throughout the day, and good hygiene all around the school. They have the vision screening every year which helped to catch my child's vision issue early, so we were able to apply early treatment to prevent the issue developing into adulthood! We have Little Tree to thank for life! With all the preparation and support from Little Tree, my kid was able to pass the entrance exam with ease at Stratford school in Sunnyvale. As we are excited to enter a new chapter in life, we also have Little Tree in mind to thank for. If you are a multi cultural family, or any family who wish to benefit from a bilingual and multi cultural early education program, I highly recommend Little Tree, as the first stepping stone into a well educated and balanced life!

The bullying my daughter endured for an entire year was awful!…read more This RSM Sunnyvale II location failed to provide a safe learning environment for my daughter. She was repeatedly bullied all year from F you notes to being called names like "stupid" and "loser," thrown objects at her head, even physically shoved and scratched in class -- and the administration has done little more than offer empty apologies or shuffle kids around. What's worse is that her teacher Ms. Natallia blamed my daughter when she's the one being harassed. At one point, her drink was knocked over by a boy throwing something at her, and they blamed my daughter for having milk (which was in an enclosed container) on her desk. Well maybe that's why you shouldn't allow throwing things in the classroom? Her teacher even called my daughter a liar in front of the whole class, which I know my daughter wouldn't lie about something like this - complete lack of integrity and unprofessional. We raised these concerns multiple times, and while the principal responds politely, there's been no meaningful change as it kept happening over and over again even after moving the bully. If the boys feel empowered to repeatedly bully the few girls in the class, that means they have zero respect for the teacher and principal as one boy even told my daughter he doesn't care if we told the principal and immediately continued to harass her. The class was habitually out of control, poorly supervised, and an unsafe learning environment. My daughter would come home in tears, and hated her experience except when there was a substitute teacher. No child should be subjected to that kind of classroom environment. We paid so much for this premium service, and it was the absolute worst afterschool experience we've ever encountered. Teachers and leadership have a responsibility to not only teach the content, but proactively foster an environment of respect and safety. We decided to transfer to a different location where the teacher came highly recommended. Due to this horrendous experience, we absolutely cannot recommend this location at all.

I just want to chime on the bullying issues at all RSM locations and explain where they came from…read more The owner who started this franchise - Ms Rifkin - created and normalized a toxic culture right from the founding of the school. I observed it in her classroom for example how one abusive but popular boy was openly bullying, tormenting and harassing another quiet student who was minding his own business quietly doing his schoolwork - repeatedly day after day in front of the RSM teacher - and instead of removing the harmful student and correcting his behavior, the owner removed his victim saying there was something wrong with the victim and she did not want him in the classroom. The reason was Ms Rifkin needed the popular student to attract other kids, and her priority was making the school popular - not making it safe for everyone. She would not monitor, discipline or remove bullies, but promote and praise them within the school community she built. She would pit kids one against another, blaming the bullied kids for having something wrong with them for wanting to come to her school when nobody was friends with them - basically blaming manufactured exclusion the kids were doing on their victim. She would create various situations to sabotage, humiliate and publicly demean kids - create this toxic power structure. She didn't care that the popular kids who formed the core of her group were bullies and harmful to others as long as they attracted other kids to come. The kids that were bullied were not really empowered to stand up for themselves and were sort of told that they deserved it because they were not good at math or were not popular. She is a toxic, emotionally abusive, manipulative woman who plays on people's feelings and provides an unsafe atmosphere for their kids. She passed this culture on down to her staff - most of whom she personally bullied by cornering them and yelling insults at them - a behavior not acceptable in American culture, but in the abusive Soviet culture perhaps common. The RSM school community in my experience is not a healthy or respectful community and it is literally dangerous for some kids to be there. When I was at her camp, she walked around telling the bullies to grab random girls by arms and legs and through them into the lake unexpected a practice she called 'dunkin'. This made some girls crave being thrown in the water as a sign of being chosen - not a healthy dynamic at all!!! It created a culture of fear and 'might makes right,' where popular kids and counselors could openly disrespect, demean, harass and bully other students without any repercussions like it is normal, in fact, they seemed to do as a cultural norm! Be mindful that your kid is learning that being disrespected and emotionally manipulated and harmed by their teacher, counselor or another student - to be a norm which will have repercussions down the road. It is essentially a culture of hazing.

I was so excited to be part of this program to have a better life for my daughter and myself as a single mother I completed the academic side of the program and when it was time to do the Externship program I was hit with medical setbacks which I have doctors notes for but unfortunately I was told that six months after I completed my academic portion of my schooling I can no longer be part of the program. I understand that this school provides a valuable service to those seeking further education, this…read morereview is less about the school's programs as a whole and more about how absolutely poorly the Pearson testing center is run here. I was scheduled for a certification exam on a Thursday night, one of their only two exam nights per week. I showed up well over an hour before my exam was scheduled and began studying a little bit more. I noticed that there was literally only one person in the front for the better part of the hour I was waiting. It wasn't until about 20 minutes before testing - 5 minutes before the people taking the exam where supposed to check in - that the rest of the test administration staff started rolling in. This is a bit of a red flag, as MOST places I have been to try to get there well before check in to make sure the computers we're testing on are working properly, and if there was an issue they would have time to try and fix it. This is not at all what happened. The exam I scheduled myself for was supposed to start at 6:00 pm. I wasn't told what was going on, aside from "Technical difficulties" until around 6:40 pm at which point the staff mentioned that their wifi in the room was down, and had been for a while and no one had done anything about it. Very shortly after this, the entire facility lost wifi, and the servers were not on site - a poor design choice in terms of a "quality" testing center I was assured by the staff that the director of the facility would "look into this first thing in the morning on Friday." Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and most of Monday came and went, and nothing from the testing center, or from Pearson VUE. So I showed up today 12/16/2019 to ask what the status was, and was givin a piece of paper with a phone number and case number to call. Only, they gave me the phone number THEY should use to call as it pertained ONLY to the testing center. My issue with this site is the gross negligence and incompetence of the testing staff in this unfortunate situation for myself and the other people who where essentially hosed on Thursday night, assured something would be done, and then, shockingly (HEAVY SARCASM) nothing happened. As of now I am out $400 for this exam, and am expected to handle this myself after their extreme lack of foresight and laziness in this situation. I will not be taking another exam here, nor would I suggest any one else do the same. The extra drive will be worth the avoidance of the headache caused by this site.
