As a former student, this school has been a good place for me, and the teachers were quite nice. They really helped me as a former student to get my life on a better path. However, in some situations, I wish the dean's office had been more supportive instead of gaslighting students who were facing vulnerable circumstances. Additionally, I observed that the school seemed to be more favorable toward Caucasian students compared to students of color, particularly in academic settings. For example, Caucasian students often received A+ grades, while students of color frequently ended up with B+ or lower, which I find highly unfair. All students of color deserve the same opportunity for excellent grades and education as their Caucasian peers. I hope that systemic injustices in our education system can be addressed. read more

The food is diabolically trash and must be improved. I'm not expecting 5 star food but like they could do better than undercooked bread and potatoes with dry chicken. I'm going to say it fully. This is the worst high school experience I've ever had. First of all, the academics were so hard but hard to the point that it stresses you out so much and the teachers there well half of them criticize you and give you a bad attitude that makes you not want to be there anymore and so I just kinda felt like going home sooner than ever. The math department is quite bad. I've attended this school from 2016 to 2020 and it was the worst experience I've ever had. I've only stayed in very few buildings with good support like the history building because it is only the good place to be in, but the majority of administration support is quite attricious to me. Also they (the administration) installed security cameras and imposed unnecessary rooms so that we can't even study by ourselves in rooms we wanted to be in. I'm also glad that I've stayed at home during senior year due to covid but that it was a relief for the harsh life I've experience in high school. I could have had a better experience somewhere else. So yeah I've regretted going here. Waste of my time for 4 years. I've could have gone to Homestead High School or anywhere else and my life would have been much better. Luckily college for me is far far better than this crappy high school who doesn't even care about you as a person. read more

The one thing that everyone seems to agree upon is the nice diversity of students. Most of the students are Asian, White, or Hispanic/Latino. On the down side, the school isn't as strong in academics as the other schools in the district. It's quite easy to do well here since the standards are not as high, but don't let that fool you into thinking that you can't get a good education. There are plenty of AP/Honor classes offered and a wide range of extra-curricular activities. It all depends on what you make of it. One of my favorite classes was theater. My teacher, Tim Shannon, was one of the best teachers that I've ever had. He was fun, charismatic, and truly cared about the students. He was the type of guy who put everyone else before himself. Unfortunately, he passed way earlier this month, but his legacy will still go on. So if you're listening Tim, thank you for being a great teacher and supporting all of us. Coach Deuce is an excellent wrestling coach because he taught my boys to be patient men and how to be a champion on and off the Matt. My oldest son now is a San Francisco sheriffs deputy and took 3d place JC state wrestling championships for JC Skyline college. And undefeated MMA competitor. His brother also a champion level wrestler and an Amazon warrior staffer. Just wanted to personally thank you for treating me as a human being and helping my boys become good men. In todays world, with all its distractions it is awesome to have instructors like Mr. Deuce to teach our future generations to become good men and women, on and off the matt. I've been a Sunnyvale resident for 12 years and was considering moving, since Sunnyvale is getting to be very expensive to live in. However, when I realized moving would mean my son wouldn't get to go to Fremont High School I changed my mind and decided to stick it out until he graduates. No way would I want my son to go to any other school. While he was in the music program in middle school he got to interact a lot with the FHS students and instructor. I liked that he got to know upper classman before he even got to the school. This year he began his freshman year and already knew so many people. My experience at FHS is that it is very welcoming and that there is a great sense of pride and school spirit. Football home games pack the stands and their music programs are top notch. My favorite part of all is band. My son is currently in marching band which I feel keeps him occupied and is helping him to prepare for his future as an adult. It's teaching him discipline, responsibility and team-work. I've never seen a teacher more dedicated and passionate than Mr. Kelly. He truly cares about each and every student and wants to see them reach their full potential. He's great at motivating the students and getting them to push outside of their box. The band and guard students are always great. They work together as a team and are always ready to lend a helping hand. Then there's the band boosters, a great bunch of parents who who volunteer their time to support the students. To me it feels like a big happy family! FHS is nothing like the bad opinion that many people have of it. Every school, no matter where it's located, has problems. I don't think FHS has problems that are any different than other schools regardless of it's location and the diversity of it's student body. Kids are kids and growing up is hard. Every high school has issues as the students find they're way from adolescence to adult hood. It's a difficult time in the life of any youth. But with proper guidance from staff, administration and student body, like they have at FHS, any student can succeed. Proud to be a Firebird Mom! read more

One of the prettiest high schools I've ever seen. It doesn't even look like it'd be a high school...maybe more like a small college. They have tons of tulips growing along their walkways in the spring. Plus there's a really nice swimming pool on campus. Anyhow, enough about the surroundings. It's the people at Fremont that make it so special. If you look at our scores, we are the lowest scoring school in the Fremont Union High School District. But we are also the school with the most English Language Learners. And you know what? Those scores are meaningless to the kids. There is nothing in it for them to do well on those tests. So, I don't just look at the test scores. The great thing about Fremont is how amazing the kids are. They come from all sorts of different backgrounds, yet they are not afraid to become friends with kids from those different cultures. I am jealous of the diversity that they are getting to experience as kids. They also are overall, pretty nice kids. Sure, we have our riff raff, but all in all, the kids are just down to earth and good. The staff is innovative and energetic. The administartion and teachers are ready to make it an even better place. read more

My alma mater. I actually came here sophomore year and didn't know anyone. It was pretty scary. Diverse mix of students. I was involved in ASB, Leadership, dance, yearbook photog, co-president of the community service club, and much more, but still wasn't involved as much as I wanted to be. I guess when you're brand new in a school where most people have known each other since elementary school; it's hard. The education is mediocre here compared to the school I came from, Los Altos high. But I did enjoy many of the teachers here in particular, Sofi Frankowski who truly made a difference here teaching MOSAIC (Making our school an inclusive community) and The asst principal and I got along very nicely. I still remember having to climb a huge step ladder and changing the letters on the board every morning, rain or shine. After c/o 2000 graduated, a beautiful electronic sign was donated so they are quite lucky to not have to deal with that stuff anymore lol Overall, like many, I had some good and bad memories of Fremont High. Barely anyone came out to the 10 yr reunion so I would suggest they do a better job at informing people of the reunion and perhaps having it at a better place or just have the ASB folks take care of it. It's a beautiful campus, but I wouldn't send my kids to this school; I was actually against sending my brother to this school, which I think was a wise choice. read more

The school looks like an old style mission. Once you enter the parking lot, you will see it lined with tulips. It's one of the most beautiful campuses that I have seen. Compared to the other 5 schools in the Fremont Union High School District, Fremont High School stands out for its architecture. The staff is friendly and enthusiastic. Most of our staff have been here 5 years or less so we have many young teachers who are eager to change the world. I felt welcomed after two weeks of being at Fremont. Many teachers frequented my room to say "hi," offer advice, and lend me their lesson plans. read more

I am sick and tired of how many kids and their family's from Fremont High School have hated on this school, so I'm here to set things straight. Fremont High is very different demographically from other high schools in the FUHSD, and for that reason we have lower test scores. We ahve 25% English learners, that is a TON. For that reason the students don't do as well on the the standardized tests. What that means is, students who go here are exposed to diversity way beyond what the other schools offer, and exceptional resources. The teachers here are beyond qualified, with MANY MANY Stanford graduates. This school does not really have cliques in the way you would expect from a high school, and I am truly honored to be a Firebird alumni. read more

1983 Grad and back in the day ... FHS rocked it! We won the Jamboree every year and we kicked ass against Homestead and Cupertino in Football. We had an awesome water polo team and tennis too! in 1982 Sunnyvale HS closed and we were blessed to high heavens to have integration come to our school! We ended up with an AWESOME Marching Band and not to mention a much needed non-white (Caucasian) atmosphere! We had our "different" clicks but we all got along and we all had school spirit. That is what is different from "today" students don't co-mingle with one-another ... there is too much "labeling" and nastiness between classmates on various levels. I work at a high school today and I see the "new" teens and how they interact. I wish FHS would get a student government that would change the climate and make it was it was in the "good ol' days" ... yes, they changed the "borders" back in 82' and bussed in the Hispanics, Asians, Samoans ~ but we accepted one another for who we were and loved our BEAUTIFUL campus. Yes, it is a beautiful campus and again, the school needs LEADERS in Student Council to RALLY school spirit and turn it around. It is a shame that FHS has this beautiful new athletic facility and no fans who come to games anymore. Makes me sad. I love FHS and I am a very proud Alum ... I hope someone who reads this who attends FHS will be inspired to make a difference! read more

Great school if you want you child to be depressed. The staff and teachers only care about grades (which I understand are important) but a child's mental health should be prioritized over that. The only way for a child to do well is if they are mentally supported (BY THE TEACHERS) which seems that this school can not do. I hope that this school works better to help the children mentally. The school has reputation (obviously) for drugs most definitely because they are depressed. I'm finishing my painful, depressing years soon at this institution and have cried more hours than taught by these useless "teachers". Now there are many great teachers here but there are just a few, I have seen more lazy teachers than hard working ones. The math department is one of the worst math departments compared to any other school. Yes the buildings look pretty from the outside but there is only depressed students on the inside. I am so thankful I have been given this opportunity to send hours crying because the administration doesn't know how to run a school. read more

Beautiful Spanish style high school and with the new addition cafeterias and classrooms, Fremont high is excellent. There's a huge stigma about this school compared to the ones in the same district such as Cupertino, homestead, etc but don't believe the hype. The academics and teachers provide the same care and education as the other schools and it is up to your child how much he studies/performs. My son is going into his junior year and he said he prefers his school to homestead high. Maybe because from middle school, he had a bunch of his friends going there and he would've goofed off more? Yes, it's a lot more diverse but it helps students break away and become more open minded and accepting of different ethnic backgrounds and students, rather than just sticking to the same group from middle school for example. I know for my son, he made a lot of Israeli and Mexican friends and learned a lot about their traditions, language, food, and culture which is great!! He would hang out at their houses and meet their parents, have dinner with them which is wonderful These are defining experiences in shaping how a teenager grows, and how he thinks, and who he becomes later in life. Not just be biased on a school based on test scores. For parents out there who might be deterred from having their child enrolled, don't be! As for grades and school, he's doing well but every child is different depending on how much effort they put in. It is the same in life!! GO FIREBIRDS!! read more

I actually went to highschool here. Class of 06!! It isn't as "bad" as everyone says it is. Compared to Homestead and Cupertino and everything else around, it's really diverse and the campus is really nice. Everyone says a lot of bad stuff happens at this school but doesn't stuff happen EVERYWHERE now a days? The staff is really good, there are great teachers there and everyone's very friendly. The counselors are really great too and they become more friends with the students versus being mentors. read more

'09. It was so-so. Pretty, though. And a bit ghetto.... but not too ghetto (i.e. not unlike schools in san jose). There were probably around 2 to 3 pregnant girls at any given time. This is LOW if you've been to a school in san jo. Once though, I was still feeling the thizz the next day during CLASS. I wasn't on ANYTHING, just feeling the after effects. And little do I know, my biotech teacher (blessed her narc self) called the school security to escort me to the front thinking I was DRUNK. Drunk??? I AM NOT GHETTO SO I DON'T GO TO SCHOOL DRUNK. High is a different story. But anyways they brought me to the front office, made me wait, and this dumbass cop put me through a sobriety test. Waste of my time! Class of 09 yesssur, but I would say class of 07 was the last grown-up class.... while all the graduates later than 07 all look like they're still freshman. Oh well. I went to Homestead HS for most of my HS life so i can see the difference between HHS and FHS. My nephews graduated from FHS and my daughter. My son and niece are currently enrolled here. As you can see, a huge part of my family graduated from Fremont HS. The location of this school is very inconvenient. I hate the traffic.They need to expand the front parking lot since it can easily cause a traffic jam which can be dangerous since some students take this opportunity to j-walk. On the positive note, the staff and school are hands on and very much involved with their students. Their music program includes a marching band which we can be proud of. They are amazing! The music director is awesome and he truly does a great job instilling the art of music into his students hearts! Overall, FHS is alright but nothing extra ordinary. If you're new in the area and just wondering about Fremont HS, nothing to worry about. It's a good school. Just plan to drop off your student (s) early to avoid the traffic. read more
