Sunny's hours 12 to 9 pm

Yesterday we went to Sunny's for the first time this summer, a treat after a long bike ride. We each had the same cone, a small coffee and vanilla soft serve, dipped in Belgian chocolate. It was so good! Sunny's is awesome and keeps getting better all the time! I think we will be back there today too!

Cherry-vanilla Iceberg. I recommend more ice cream and getting them to blend it for a great taste!

Upon arriving at this diner we probably would have driven right by if not for the few reviews we…read moreread. The outside looks a little run down, a true hole in the wall as we say in the States and a lot of those hole in the walls are the best little treasures. That was the case here and we were glad we stopped in. My husband ordered just 3 plain pancakes and his first words out of his mouth were, "I thought they would be bigger than that ". lol...but they were great tasting pancakes. I got the Starlite omelette which had meats and cheese inside and was very good. I ordered the whole wheat toast and onions in my potatoes. I gave my husband a bite of my omelette and he told the waitress it was the best omelette he had ever had. I was hoping that wasn't a hint because I didn't slow down long enough to offer him anymore. But, I did give time a whole piece of toast too. We only had water to drink. Our order was taken and came out fairly fast. We would defiantly go back again for breakfast.

Over easy egg, yolk broke,so cook just mixed it together, looked like an omelet. The fried potatoes & onion ..some cooked ,some not. 3 slices of bacon,1 burnt. The toast was very good !! Found the same problems last year , 3 visits. Told under new management. Gave them this last chance & it was a failure............... Have to find a new breakfast location. I guess, there's always Timmies....................

Ohhhhhh I love the Dairy Bar in Kensington. I always get the fabulous chocolate dipped cone. It's…read morevery large and the chocolate is thick and rich. So much better than any other dipped cone. We've eaten here before but not that impressed. The townfolk flock to it though. Probably have good burgers but I'm not a fan of burgers so I eat ice cream! The service at the outside counter is great. They do have a very nice big place to eat inside if you want to have lunch or dinner instead of a snack. BONUS-its right on the Confederate trail so a good stopping spot if you're trekking down that. YOU MUST go here when you are in Kensington PEI

Since we'd never eaten here before I asked the cashier if we ordered there or we'd get table service. The woman that was working seemed annoyed at my question and said she'd show us to a table. We ordered seafood chowder, fish & chips, and a lobster roll. When the server/cashier came around with glasses of water and utensils she still seemed a bit huffy. The seafood chowder was amazing! Most of the time chowder at restaurants are very watery and there's only small pieces of seafood floating around in the bowl. This chowder was very chunky and absolutely filled with huge pieces of seafood. This was my first lobster roll and I was not disappointed. It was so tasty, not too much mayo, large pieces of lobster all in a soft roll. The fish and chips wasn't spectacular like the other two dishes but good enough and the crinkle cut fries were perfect. Perhaps the server wasn't having a good day but eventually her mood lightened up just a bit. I'm not sure if having the manager was sitting at a table going through numbers/reports contributed to her improved service.

While taking…read morea scenic ride through PEI over the past summer, my friend and I pulled into Johnny's Dairy Bar to take a much needed break and recharge. Johnny's is located approximately 2 km west from the center of Kensington, hard to miss! This very colorful drive-in restaurant is the ideal place to bring the family for some treats and fun! This place also has a driving range, mini putt golf, and a small playground. Johnny's Dairy Bar serves up cold treats as well as typical drive-in fare with outside takeout windows in front and an indoor dine-in seating area. The cold treats offered include soft serve and hard ice cream (from ADL), sundaes, flurries, banana splits, shakes, and slushes. Treat the dog to a Pooch Parfait, which is ice cream & dog biscuit, WOOF!! The hot foods offerings include burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, poutines, fried foods, seafood, ribs, and chicken fingers. Most items can be upgraded into a Deluxe Meal for around $2 more, which includes home fries, regular fries, or baked potato and cole slaw. The outside window service was efficient. We enjoyed a large ice cream cone (coffee) and a banana split, which was so good and refreshing on a warm summer day. This is why summertime is so great! However, we could not stick around and play some mini putt golf since we still had quite a long drive ahead, headed off to Nova Scotia via the Confederation Bridge through New Brunswick. The ice cream here and a quick coffee stop at Timmy Horton's was good enough to tide us over before we had a late dinner.

Good food, good service, just a great, totally informal place to satisfy your craving for fish and…read morechips, poutine, ice cream, or hamburgers. Very rustic but that's not a bad thing!

First off Prince Edward Island probably has got to have the best dairy products in North America even New England. Yes I have lived in New England for 27.66 years. I had a caramel swirl small sized ice cream. The portion for a small was suprisingly Texas size. I did not eat the ice cream till 30 min later after I purchased and it was still so firm and creamy. I think there is this best kept and top secret in which no one in this province will ever disclose in making quintessential ice cream. Apart from the Ice Cream I also purchased a donut. Donut like the ice cream was beyond outstanding. I had the cake battered donut with vanilla frosting with fruit loops sprinkled on top of it. It tasted so different than any donuts I ever had. I prefer store bought donuts as oppose to Dunkin Donuts found all over greater Boston. However, now after I tried a PEI donut from Potters I will never go to Dunkin Donuts. The texture was so firm and fresh even one day after the purchase. I believe it has some potato starch from the red soils. I hope to come back and see you next time Potters.
