Absolutely wonderful surgeon. I had heard he was a very good doctor before I had to use his…read moreservices. The medical community in which I work was buzzing about him before I had meet him. When I did actually meet him, my 85 year old mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. He was recommended and referred by my mother's primary care doctor, Dr. Susan Murphy (no relation). Let me first say I have worked as a health care professional for over 25 years and I know 90 percent of the doctors here in the Vero Beach area. Most surgeons are somewhat cocky, have no bed side manner, and some I would say cautiously say have a "God complex". Dr. Ed Murphy has none of those qualities. During her first initial consult he was caring, compassionate and treated my mother with dignity and respect and even held her hand when she broke down during the consult. He explained the risks of the surgery and was truthful and honest about the outcome but did it in a way that didn't completely scare my mother to death. His office staff were extremely helpful and friendly and any questions or concerns we had they answered and helped us with. They were great when they helped us set up Home Health Care for her recovery at home.. By the way, Dr. Murphy was able to save her breast and the scarring is minimal. After my mother's surgery, about 4 months later, my husband had a gall bladder attack and needed emergency surgery. At the ER we requested him for the surgical consult and even the ER doctor told me we couldn't have chosen a better surgeon. The doctor was very busy but still took on my husband's case. My husband loved him! He was very down to earth, and you could joke and kid around with him too. He was also very professional and told us of the risks and complications that my husband might face. He never candy coated anything. My husband too has dealt with surgeons in there past, as he too had worked at a large hospital and knew many surgeons. He was impressed with his bed side manner. Dr. Murphy removed the gall bladder and even repaired a small umbilical hernia. My husband was in and out of the hospital within 48 hours and his recovery was uncomplicated. You can hardly see the scars but I guess that's because it was done with laparoscopy. Also, the wait time at his office for both the consults and follow-ups were pretty good with both my mother and my husband's cases. In past dealings with other surgeons we were waiting 3 hours because the office staff booked 5 patients at the same appointment. That is so very aggravating and then if your late by 10-15 minutes some doctors refuse to see you or make you reschedule.... but they will make you wait for hours. Needless to say, this was NOT the case at Dr. Murphy's office... no 3 hour wait time. One time we did wait an hour but the office called us ahead of time and told us there would be a wait because of an emergency that had arisen and they gave us the option to reschedule. I thought that was very thoughtful. Lord forbid I need his services again, but if I do, I will be calling on him! He is an awesome surgeon and doctor. Highly recommended!!!

50 year resident of VB, repeat customer (same for late wife) of IRMH and CC. Have had all kinds of…read moreprocedures, operations, infusions and rehab at CC. And I have to say that while they're not stunningly out front with regard to interactions with patients they're not the cesspit that some commenters make them out to be. They are certainly better than one star and in many instances better than two. Was sent to the CC ER three days ago for serious ear infections. While the personnel most definitely did not make one feel welcome, they speedily got me the appropriate CT scan and blood and wound testing. ER doctor pleasant and seemed competent, but maybe I'm chopped liver. Yes, Mayo is probably better but I live in VB and as a neighborhood hospital CC isn't bad. I don't think you have to be frightened about going to VBCC. Just be on your toes to call out provider/staff attitude if and when necessary.

Cleveland Clinic has destroyed out wonderful Indian River Memorial Hospital since it's take over…read more They are supposed to be A rated but they're anything but-their care giving is an oxymoron They change procedures and policies constantly and patients should expect conflicting information depending on who you talk to as the hospital management doesn't seem bothered to keep everyone trained/informed Mass exodus of doctors last two years-good luck if you want to see one-they saw what was coming PA's and Nurses are on the clock-so if they seem in a hurry, that is because they are (except in the Emergency room where there seems to be lots of people not doing much, regardless of how backed up or empty waiting room is) CCH is supposed to be a not-for-profit hospital but they're run like they're owned by an uncaring Wall Street hedge fund Nurses and PA's were constantly looking for the most basic supplies-would leave patients room looking for a needed item and say I will be right back with whatever they needed and be gone an hour- finally have to limp into the hallway and yell to get someone's attention Bots and A/I are not customer friendly and everything takes 3 days to get back to you because the folks that used to answer the phones are now making rounds also The other YELP reviewer's comments on their emergency room experience was our identical experience last weekend and required multiple visits. Could go on and on but uncaring, incompetent and neglectful sounds correct They are the 800-pound gorilla in our community, and 800-pound gorillas do pretty much whatever they want to do-going to another facility is a good suggestion but a tough option-Who ? The one favorable review actually got to see a doctor, what a novel concept John M Oct 10,2026

I think they are a good clinic that does good work but there is a systemic money grab mentality…read moregoing on here. On two separate occasions they completed ingrown toenail removals on two family members. Both times it required a second procedure later. On the second procedure, I asked questions after being told that they did not put the nail bed neutralizer on the nail bed during the first procedure. I was informed that this was because of the infection the first time. However, the second procedure was also completed when an infection existed, worse the first time. I asked why they could do it this time but not previously. No adequate answer was provided but there was a lot of babbling and double talk. This was the exact same scenario as for the other procedure. Both family members walked in with obvious infections and soreness due to the ingrown toenails. Both times, they cut out the nail, charge the insurance and charge copays for the visit and follow-ups. Both times, the nail grew back because the nail bed was not treated and another infection ensued. Both times, the exact same procedure was repeated with the addition of the nail bed neutralizer the second time. Both times, the toes looked identical for all practical purposes during the first and second procedure. Most recently, once again, they scheduled a follow-up. I inquired if there's going to be a copay (and obviously insurance billing). The answer was yes and since the toe looked perfect, I canceled the appointment. I'm not paying a ridiculous copay and allowing them to bill the insurance company for them to look at the toe and say, "Looks good, have a good day." This is in my opinion not only malpractice but criminal. I am pursuing further options and cannot wait for my day in court and with regulators.
