If I could give this place a negative rating, I would. Please avoid Eyeland Optical at all costs…read more You would think that after spending $700 on a pair of glasses, (that's right, $700) I would experience superb service, Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. I never received any phone calls nor call backs after leaving countless amount of messages with their staff. I made an extra trip to them to supply additional insurance info only to have their staff lose it which delayed the processing of my glasses.l am totally disatisfied and would have been better off at BJ's or Sears Optical. Would have saved probably 50% off the cost of my glasses to boot. Update: since my painful monetary lesson that I experienced at Eyeland Optical, I have since discovered EyeBuy Direct. I ordered 2 sets of glasses (one pair were sunglasses) on a BOGO deal for a total of $134!!!! The service and communication was fantastic, the quality of the frames and lenses stellar - nothing to complain about. Seriously folks, I'm all for supporting local businesses - but I wish I knew about this online web store prior to my visit at Eyeland. It would have saved me more than $500!

Once we got the paperwork, Eyeland optical in Stroudsburg claimed to not support our insurance. Once we got on the phone with the insurance company, we handed the phone to the lady at the desk (her name was Grace-make sure you avoid her), she proceeded to ARGUE with the insurance representative to the point where the insurance rep hung up on her. Need I remind you that this was over an hour passed out scheduled appointment time at this point. We never got seen by the doctor, because Grace told us that everything would be out of pocket even when they supported our insurance. Additionally, the woman at the desk was making personal phone calls, and snapped at me numerous times for being patient. Avoid this place!

(This was a few months ago so the details could be a bit iffy.)…read more This was a very impromptu trip and everything at Edge of the Woods makes doing that easy. Head to the website, book the date & time you want and you're done. www.watergapadventure.com/river-trips A few things worth noting: They offer multiple trip lengths. The standard 4-, 6- and 10-mile trip (Smithfield to Portland) are all booked generically and then when you get there you tell them what you want to do. All pricing is the same which believe me compared to others companies, that's very different - in a good way. They do offer two other longer trips but those require calls to the main office I assume to assess river conditions; your own competency and shuttle availability. The main office in Delaware Water Gap is very easy to find and there was plenty of parking on a quiet post-Labor Day Monday. You check in, you're handed a laminated map, life jacket and given a brief route explanation and then you're off in the van. One problem arose and it was kind of a PIA but it was worked around. Most companies have different types/sizes/models of kayaks and quite often, will ask you what you prefer. Not here. When we left the office, the guy driving didn't say a word to me until we get to Smithfield Beach to unload. He had a few kayaks pre-loaded in the carrier but definitely did not look at them before we left. One of them had a broken foot pedal that he said couldn't be used, another was very much designed for a smaller individual (i.e. if you're taller and/or taller & larger it ain't happening safely) which only left two tandem models. Using a tandem as a single individual is not the end of the world but especially when the seats are still left in the two person configuration (i.e. one front and one back versus the rear one being placed more towards the middle), it's a PIA to maneuver the craft and you are paddling harder to get the job done compared to a single. The scenery along the route was decent. You could see a bit of the Shawnee Resort and Golf Course, an old stone bridge abutment in the middle of the river, under and along 80 and then when you get into the Water Gap itself with the high cliff sides. Very picturesque. Once you go under the old train viaduct in Portland, you give the office a call for the shuttle to meet you at the out point which is at the Portland Pedestrian Bridge. The whole experience was about four hours door to door to cover the ten miles on the water plus the shuttle to & from the pick up and drop off points. Lots of nice scenery, due to the low water level there wasn't much in the way of current except for the area around viaduqt in Portland and even that wasn't bad. I'm not a big fan of the equipment here but I wouldn't let that deter me from coming back in the future for one of their northern longer trips.

Brooklyn Fireworks looked busy, and I assumed that meant they had great prices. I was wrong. The store is tiny, overcrowded, and so packed with people that it's almost impossible to shop carefully or verify prices. They advertise sale prices, but many of my items were rung up at regular price instead. CHECK EVERY SINGLE ITEM AND YOUR RECEIPT BEFORE YOU PAY. I ended up spending $468 on fireworks that should have cost me around $250 based on the advertised prices. By the time I realized what happened, it was too late. To make matters worse, several of the fireworks I purchased were complete duds and never worked. Paying premium prices for products that don't even function is unacceptable. The store itself felt disorganized and unsafe. My wife tripped over a cord or object stretched across the floor while trying to walk through the crowded aisles. With that many customers packed into such a small space, someone could easily get hurt. Parking is another nightmare. There are only enough spaces for roughly 7-12 vehicles, so people double park and block each other in. Expect delays before you even get inside. While I was there, the power went out. They did have a generator that restored power within about a minute, but it just added to the chaotic experience. After wasting a 4-hour drive, spending far more than I should have, receiving products that didn't work, and dealing with the overcrowding and parking issues, I can honestly say the trip was a complete waste of my time, gas, and money. I'll never be going back. Next time I'll stick with Phantom Fireworks, where I've had a much better experience and know the prices are what they claim to be. Last but not least. I spent $468 the online ad said if I spent $350 I would receive $100 free in fireworks. Unlike Phantom if you don't know about the ad they won't say anything. You got me Brooklyn. But hopefully this review GET's YOU!!! I'm telling everyone in the DC MD VA and Yelp!!
