I just made this yelp account (after years of browsing as a yelp lurker) just so I could write this review-- that's how bad my experience at Sung Cleaners was. I'm usually an incredibly forgiving customer/consumer, and despite having had many bad customer experiences have never been incensed enough to go out of my way to write a review. That changed today.
I dropped off a very nice white dress shirt at Sung which I bought recently for interviews at the hefty price of $110. Expensive, but worth it for this great shirt. I had worn it two times with my suit when I dropped it off, and it was in fantastic condition. There was a tiny amount of yellow staining inside the neck of the collar (completely invisible from the outside, e.g. it was deep down within the inside of the neck).
When I came back to pick it up today, the first thing I noticed was that the rim (the part that's visible to the eye) was very yellow. As in, visibly yellowed to the point that I could NOT wear this with a suit for interviews anymore. I then saw that there was an approximately dime-sized, rust-colored stain on the front left breast, as well as a smaller rust colored stain on the top left shoulder. All of these things were absolutely not on the shirt when I dropped it off.
When I began to ask about it, the front desk worker attempted repeatedly to gaslight me, saying that they had all been there when i dropped the shirt off and that I was misremembering them and misremembering how many times I had worn the shirt. She said the yellow visible on the outside of the collar happens after even TRYING A SHIRT ON, so it made sense it was there. She kept saying it wasn't their (Sung Cleaners') fault since they send the clothes out with a separate company to get cleaned, and that there was nothing I could do. When I asked her what they have ever done when there were issues with clothes in the past, she said, verbatim, "no, other customers have just been nice, and understood," implying that I was not being "nice" because I was upset about my shirt being ruined. Excuse me?
This was an utterly outrageous experience. I couldn't believe it. I left the shirt with them again because the employee said she would send it out again to try to "fix it" (no idea how they're going to do that - I am very skeptical that these stains can be fixed on a nice dress shirt). I insisted that they reimburse me for this shirt if it is not fixed, and she again tried to gaslight me by saying that I had in fact worn it many more times than I remembered and that the stains were partially there when I dropped it off. Absolutely not true in the slightest. I will update this review one way or the other. Either way, this was a terrible experience overall and I HIGHLY recommend avoiding Sung Cleaners. read more
