I just had my first trip to J Brite cleaners and had to come on here because the reviews - while good - don't do them justice. I came in Tuesday afternoon with 16 items and needed one item - a gown - cleaned by Friday. They had all the items ready and each was meticulously cleaned. The gown looks brand new. I am so picky about which dry cleaner I use. I moved back to Philadelphia recently and found my prior dry cleaner no longer as good. I tried a few others but no one was great. J Brite is excellent. I live about a 15 minute drive away but it is so worth it. read more

I went here at 12:25 PM on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 to have a winter jacket dry cleaned. They quoted me $80 (Yes, Eighty United States Dollars). Precisely one year ago the exact same jacket cost $40 to have dry cleaned at this same dry cleaning establishment. Hysterically rude and dismissive customer service as well. Have been using this store for years now including a few tailorings and other special services. Pretty standard work, nothing special-tgey we're decent in a pinch. But only decent. I'll never understand why businesses treat customers badly. You catch way more flies with honey than vinegar and with the amount of other competing businesses in the area, it's not hard for customers. I certainly will never return and I will make sure none of my friends in the area do either. Take your business elsewhere. Even some rocks and a stream would be better than dealing with these people. read more

What a very disappointing demise of my former go-to cleaners. I started using J Brite about 20 years ago when my ex-boss got red nail polish all over the front of her ivory silk blouse and they got it all out. That was all the endorsement I needed. They pick up and deliver which is incredibly convenient. Over the past few years, mostly when I sent bright colored blouses and dresses with stains, I would often get a call from someone at J Brite telling me they didn't know if they could remove stain without damaging fabric. Then the items were returned to me with the original stains, a tag saying special attention was paid to a particular spot, and a pricey invoice. This happened repeatedly. Then, the phone calls alerting me to any concern stopped coming. Earlier this summer I had to throw away a pink silk blouse I had bought in Aspen that was unwearable. (I now regret that as I have since gone back to a cleaner I think could have gotten the original stain out). A month ago I sent an expensive purple gown I had worn once which had a small spot on the front. I did not get a call telling me there was a concern nor a follow-up that they could not clean the gown. The stained gown was returned without a word uttered to me, a tag saying special attention was paid, and a $30.00 invoice. When I addressed this with the owner all he said is we tried our best. I tried to get an answer as to what happened, since at one time I could count on them to get my clothes clean. The owner was defensive and offered no explanation. All I know is that they charge way too much for what has become mediocre work. This, I am now a disappointed former customer! read more

I've taken everything from elaborate theater costumes and groomsmen suits to t-shirts & everyday wear here for laundry, dry cleaning & basic tailoring. They use organic soaps so we don't have to worry about a Tide allergy in our household. They are timely and polite. Their work is always great! read more

I/we have been using J-Brite cleaners for some time. As of late, product or service (whichever huh choose), has been drastically different: stains, excessive starch visibly along sleeve lines, missing buttons, poor communications regarding special articles (damage, inabilities, etc. More importantly, in today's economy and competing industry: no monthly, weekly, or annual customer specials? No percentage for returning wire hangers? And. NO military acknowledgement or discount for any vet...really???? Definitely considering another agency for future use and I urge you to do the same. This place is owned by thieves. I brought an expensive Hickey Freedmen blue men's sport jacket used once to be cleaned and it was stolen and I was given a child sport jacket in place. Of course they claimed I gave them a child sport jacket which was untrue. I found out later it was sold on eBay for $600. Stay clear if you have valuable new clothing. I called on a Saturday morning and asked if they could clean/repair my coat same day. She said if I got there by 11am that they could do it. I was leaving for vacation the next day so I hopped in an Uber and made my way over there. The girl who helped me was quick, friendly and funny! She got me taken care of quickly and then gave me a quote on having a different coat repaired. (I'm hard on coats, ok?) I dropped off both items, paid and left. I popped in a few hours later and picked up one of the coats and it was cleaned and repaired exactly as I asked. I went on vacation and 2 weeks later went back to pick up the other coat that I had the pockets replaced. I was again 100% satisfied and they were again friendly and prompt. This place is a little further from my house than others but I won't go anywhere else in Philly. read more

They take no responsibility for their work. I brought a very expensive suede jacket. They absolutely ruined it. I also brought a pair of shoes that just needed something small. Well, I they came back without the beads that were on them, so they never looked right again and I had to throw them out. The owner didn't care about it and never tried to fix the situation. I just went in to get my shoes repaired. The person called and told me to pick it up. When I traveled there the store owner had no idea where the shoes were and couldnt get in touch with the shoe repairer. I left the estabishment empty handed. That was in October and now it's December and I still have not heard from anyone. Stay away. The store owner didn't even care and just said there was nothing he could do. I've been here a few times to have sweaters and coats cleaned and I've never had a problem. I recently came in to have an evening gown hemmed for an event last Saturday. I'll admit I was a little nervous to pick the thing up, but they did a fabulous job! The workers are always friendly and they even have a driveway where you can pull up your car while you grab your items. I'm definitely on board with JBrite. read more

I heard such great things about J Brite. With that I thought it'd be safe to get an expensive pair of pants altered - I only needed the waist taken in a little. I received their estimate, thought it was a little high, but OK'd it expecting good results. When I got the pants back, the back pockets were almost touching each other. Not a good look. I know taking in by the back seam is the easiest. But, the design and fit was compromised. I hoped for better judgement on their part. They should have taken in on the sides. The pants now fit horribly, the seam is "wavy" and there isn't enough fabric left to fix it. I can't wear these pants. I'm sure they're fine for dry cleaning and maybe raising a pant leg. But for anything more than that, I'd look elsewhere. read more

Expensive! I dont know what the going rate in the city is but $10 a dress is hurting me!

I brought in 8 couch cushion covers for cleaning. The woman wasn't sure how much it would cost so she said leave your stuff here, I'll ask my husband and call you tomorrow. Gave her my number, never received a call. I went in 2 days later and asked for the cost and they gave it to me. There were some stains I pointed out that I wanted removed and they said it would take 10 days which I thought was ridiculous. I asked if they could do 4 days and they said ok. I came in at 5pm the day they were suppose to be ready and they told me 6 were finished but they forgot to do 2 cushions that needed special treatment for the stains. I talked to the guy and he said he will take care of it and to come back the next day. I came back and they tell me they couldn't get the stains out. I was very disappointed and the woman said if our chemicals can't get them out nothing will. I paid them, went home, wet a sponge with just warm water, scrubbed it lightly, and the stain came out. Couldn't believe it. I guess they take *dry* cleaning a bit too literally. Hard to find a good, reliable dry cleaner in the city. Will be going to the one in my old neighborhood on 11th and Pine from now on, it's worth the hike. read more

My dad has been using this place to get his suits dry cleaned for a while now, and always recommended it to me. Last week, I got paint all over my brand new ivory and very delicate dress. The box said that if stained on clothes, it will never come out. Surprisingly, the cleaners at J Brite got it out. They said they had to clean it 3 different times, but didn't charge me extra. The whole thing only clost $10.50. I will definitely be a return customer. read more

These guys are a little bit pricey, but very friendly. They even hemmed my pants for free one time- and did a great job. That was a nice surprise. I like that they have a little drive-up area that you can pull your car in for quick drop offs or pick ups. Saves the hassle of finding a spot. read more

A few weeks ago I dropped off one of my favorite dresses to JBrite. Unfortunately, a black pen had exploded in a bag of mine where the dress had been and stained the back of my dress. I was not aware of this at the time and put the dress in my closet for at least two months. When I went to wear the dress again and finally noticed the issue, I brought it to J Brite assuming it was a hopeless case. However, I returned a few days later to a perfect condition banana republic dress. The staff there is always incredibly helpful and polite. I would recommend this place to anyone. read more

I brought a very expensive Italian white dress shirt to J Brite with most of one side of the collar browned and apparently ruined from a rotted piece of fruit that sat on the shirt in the back of my car. The first cleaning they achieved about 97% clean but it wasn't good enough upon close inspection. There was still a faint stain, which you can't have on a collar. They upped their game with their secret cleaning recipe and this heinous stain was totally gone after the second cleaning. They really did a great job considering the condition it was in. Most people would have just thrown the shirt out. And they didn't use bleach which they say damages the fabric. Good job. read more

I've been to J Brite a few times, mostly becuase it's probably the closest to my house. As friendly as everyone is, I have to say that I've been disappointed with the cleaning. On two separate occasions, I've taken something in to be cleaned and specifically pointed out a spot that needed a little extra TLC. Both times I arrived home with my garments, expecting to find a clean coat and spotless suit paints, only to find that the stain hadn't been removed (let alone touched). And both times I took my own detergent and a bit o' water to my "dry clean only" apparel (GASP!) and easily removed the spots. Maybe the moral of the story is to disregard labels and clean things on my own first, but I think from now on I'll be taking my dry cleaning elsewhere. read more

Wow! This place really came through for me! I travel and do wardrobe for a reality tv show and dropped off a huge load with lots of different instructions for cleaning. They had it ready the next day and were so sweet. I was worried about a shredded denim vest and they ever did it immediately to insure it was good. Also had a designer sport coat that needed a few buttons. She didn't have any that were perfect so I walked 3 blocks away and paid .25$ a button and had her replace all of the button. She did a perfect job. On top of it all the next day I came back in with an emergency chefs coat I need back same day and the rushed it. I had it back in hand 2 hours later. I have gone to plenty of dry cleaners and tons of cities on this show and this by far has been my favorite! When you do come to pick up your clothes they will check every piece even lint rolling them. Love them! read more

I would give JBrite 5 stars, but I have to subtract one for the price. In comparison to the rest of the cleaners in Queen Village they're relatively expensive, however, on the same token, they do a better job than anyone else. I had to get my winter coat cleaned and a button replaced. The person who was waiting on my husband (who was kind enough to bring it in) offered to repair another button I had sewn on myself for free. The only problem was that I had to wait from Wednesday until Monday evening to pick up my coat because they have an alteration maximum per week. It was a cold weekend, and I would've like to have my coat. With all that said, the employees are very nice, and all work is done on the premises, as opposed to be sent out like other places in the area. They have a great photo of that intersection from the 1920's that the owner (I assume he was the owner) was actually able to talk to us about.
