5 stars simply wasn't enough I came in to Sunflower Nails Plus today a little past 6pm as my girlfriend was very much looking forward to getting a pedicure today. Despite letting us know that the store had actually already closed due to holiday hours, Tanya insisted that we stay and that she helped us to a pedicure. Her reasoning was simply, "you had mentioned how excited you were to get a pedicure today, I want to make that happen for you!". Tanya then welcomed both of us over to the massage chairs very kind and invitingly, and promptly got started on my girlfriend's pedicure and acrylic full set. I couldn't help but admire Tanya's precision, attention to detail, and completely mastery of her work! Needless to say my girlfriend loved her full set an we both left as extremely happy customers. Bear with me here. My mother, Three of my aunts, cousin, and I have been coming to this location religiously. Not often together. I went in Monday morning at opening and requested French mani pedi. I did ask for a chrome finish which is unlike my usual requests, not to say I haven't asked for way more intricate design and shapes in the past. They are often wonderful especially the women in there. I will reiterate, the women are wonderful and kind. The male owner did my hands while I got a pedicure. He was so rude and multiple times asked me to pay attention with an attitude I hadn't experienced there before. Two hours by the way because he kept answering calls while others were available for phone. I would've waited for someone else had I known he'd be up and moving the whole time. My mom arrived after me to pay for my nails which was very kind of her given I usually pay for my own. When she had to leave she had one of her regular ladies check her out as I explained what exact services I received. The man cut me off and told my mom that he will be the one checking her out. My usual $130 ish mani pedi jumped to $200 not including tip. When my mom made a comment he started making up charges, backtracking and "offering" a "discount." It was clear he was taking advantage of the situation while also being pushy and rude. I admit I should've asked how much more chrome would be but I didn't think it would all be this expensive since as I stated above I've done longer and more intricate designs. Always gel. I will not be coming back. My boyfriend's mom and sister were surprised at this story and recommended a place near them in solana beach. Wild that solana beach would have more affordable prices than this salon. Onto the next. My mom and cousin had an appointment later that day at 2:00. Mom treated my cousin to her prom nails. When the price came up, my cousin even made a comment (which is unlike her) saying she's never been charged that much at this location. I'm done. They absolutely sus you out and determine prices that way. If you do come here, ask for prices beforehand and be totally clear. My pedicure wasn't special. They scrubbed my feet but left a lot of stuff so I had to re scrub at home. I did not get any kind of massage, paraffin, hot stones, or a towel so idk why it cost so much. Awful experience. Sucks because it was so close to my house. Again, I know nails are a privilege and a service but no one should be taken advantage of or treated like this. Bad taste. The salon now features the Chaun Legend gel polish - this colors are so brilliant. I am tough on my nails working on a keyboard and they hold up beautifully. Andy is caring and not happy unless I am. I just got my nails done two days ago and one fell off while I was at a very important event. The gal that did my nails stated that this type of gel finish lasts "much longer than normal" and that is obviously not the case. I really enjoyed my manicure here! (A basic manicure is $25) The building is hard to miss, and it was a clean atmosphere inside. I'm not one to do anything fancy (I keep natural nails, no dip, gel or acrylic) and I really appreciated that they only asked once and didn't insist "but it'll last longer!" or XYZ sales tactic haha. With that said, I called ahead to see if they could squeeze me in 30-minutes. They said they would be available and I headed over. Only downside was that I had arrived about 5-7 minutes after I said I'd be there and then had to wait another 20 minutes before I got a technician. I wish I got her name, but my technician was very kind and open to conversation (which I prefer in a nail studio). I will never go here again. I came in and asked for a design with regular polish. I told him how long I had and he pressured me into getting gel. He told me every design I see on social media is "gel, not regular polish." Then when I clarified the design he told me there wasn't enough time and that he'd been upfront about that. I have been a regular customer to Sunflower nails for many years. After today's experience, I will NEVER come back. I called at 11:15am today to check availability for myself and a friend for 2 nail appointments (a gel set and an acrylic fill). I was told to come 12:00 today. My friend arrived minutes before me and was immediately seated. Then a walk-in client came in, and they immediately started on her nails. Then I arrived, and no one was available for my nail service. I politely sat next to my friend to wait for an available rep. I waited until 12:45 until someone finally asked if I wanted nails still. I declined and the staff never apologized for making me wait. This is very disappointing customer service. I have brought several new customers to their establishment, and I will be contacting them to no longer support this place. I'm happy to take my time and money to a place that respects their dedicated patrons and appointments. read more

I was there yesterday and Mike , the Owner offer to do my nails . He was in the front when I walked in and specifically , I mentioned I am trying this place first time and I want someone experienced for gel and powder combination for fill in French manicure . I got new set of tips in Orange County last month , I was over due . I sat down and before I know it he's starting cutting my long nails super short . He's not communicating with me , he's like you need new tips your nails are very nasty . Then he's literally pulling the remaining tips from my natural nail , that was glued . It was so painful , I told him doesn't he has dissolving solution ? Then , he's making me dip my hands inside a metal bowl that was inside another large bowl with boiled water . I couldn't even keep them dipped , it was extremely hot . After 15 minutes , he's taking them off and starting torturing me some more filling them down that you could see then raw beneath . I asked them how long he's doing nails and he responded three days . I am like you are joking ! He was so rude , unprofessional, he insulted me , tortured me . At that point I was terrified to have him continue placing glue and new set of tips nails on my super sensitive , paper thin nails . I asked him to pay for removing my nails , $15 for the worse experience in my life . I am taking a break for my nails to heal , so much filling . I will never go back there . I decided to try dip nail manicure for the first time. I specifically was looking for a long lasting manicure and I had heard of dip but hadn't tried it before today. I opted for a dark purple because I read it makes gemstone ring colors pop, I think the article is right! Anyways I had a gentleman do my nails, he was quick and efficient and what initially was going to be a 45min manicure was really a quick 30 mins, and it was $45. It was really a no fuss procedure as my nails were in a good shape from previous manicure and this was really a color refresh.
