We spent a week at this RV park. The location was perfect and there was so much to do in the surrounding area of St Charles, that we didn't have to go into St. Louis unless we wanted. The RV sites were great. We had full hook ups and the site was concrete. The bathrooms were very nice, clean, and air conditioned. The showers were roomy and always clean, it took a bit for the hot water but there was always hot water. The laundry room was great too, they had 10 washers and 8 dryers. It was always clean and well kept up. What made it even better was access to the Katy Trail for running, walking, and biking. All you had to do was walk out the back gate, across the street and there it was. The staff was very nice and we even had to have a propane tank filled which was no problem since they had a filling station on the premises. If you are ever heading through St. Louis with your trailer, camper or whatever you travel with, use this place! It was great! read more

STAY AWAY IF YOU HAVE PETS AND NEED ELECTRIC FOR HEAT OR AIR or desire a place where you're not packed in like sardines We stayed at this RV park for two weeks for my stepson's wedding in the area. We have 2 dogs and 2 cats and it was extremely hot one week. There is an older woman who owns/runs the place and she was super sweet at the time of check-in. And as soon as you have a problem that changes. We have a pretty new 2023 American Coach / American Eagle 45E One day late afternoon/early evening we kept running into an issue with the 50 amp breaker for the site tripping. My husband had to go outside and reset it four times within a couple of hours. My husband verified on the control panel of our RV that we were not pulling more than about 40 Amps when this kept tripping. He walked down to the office and spoke with Debba (sp?) , who said they would have the electrician take a look at it. When the electrician arrived, my husband informed the electrician that we were only pulling about 40amps when this was happening and the gentleman said "well, I'm not even gonna bother looking at it then because you were pulling more amps than what it's rated for". My husband questioned him and realized he was not actually an electrician. The next morning , Debba called us to see if everything was fixed. When we informed her of what had happened, she said that another camper on a different site had the exact same experience. A couple hours later, my husband went to the office and this time spoke with the owner (An older woman, I cant remember her name - but she is the only older woman there) . She stated that nothing was wrong with the site, and that we were the only people to ever have an electrical problem. When my husband said that is not true because we knew of the other camper that had issues the same day, and also stated that it seems the negative reviews we had seen were all related to electrical problems, she looked at him and said "Now you're just pissing me off". She then stated that the problem had to be with our RV because her electrician said everything was fine, even though he never even looked at anything and when it was mentioned he was not an electrician she said "stop insulting my people" my husband informed her that electricians would know what the correct rating of the electrical circuit to which she began mocking him by silently mimicking his facial expressions and making faces at him, almost like a child would do during an argument. It was incredibly unprofessional and disrespectful She even went to the extent of blaming it on us having a surge protector!! Stating that every person who uses a surge protector has an issue, which contradicted her prior statement that nobody else has ever had any problems. From that point forward anytime we left we turned on our generator because we just didn't trust that the power would go out. We also overheard the maintenance person talking to her after he left here stating the electrical panels needed to be updated and to just do 1 or 2 at a time so it wouldn't be that much, then when he got off the phone with owner he said to us that the owner was cheap and didn't want to upgrade any of this services because it would cut into her profit. read more

Sundermeier RV Park - Packed in like sardines - Campgrounds Near Me - Saint Charles, Missouri

I've stayed here a couple times and generally like the park. I appreciate owners investing in urban RV parks and I don't expect much for amenities in these kinds of settings. The staff were pleasant on a pre-arrival phone call and at check-in--but once there was an issue, the office staff member became very argumentative and rude, consistent with other online reviews. **ELECTRICAL SAFETY WARNING** DO NOT use the 30A receptacles here unless you have a surge protector with an Electrical Management System (EMS) that explicitly confirms correct wiring before connecting your RV. My equipment detected a Line/Neutral Reversal on some 30A receptacles; the 50A receptacles appeared to be wired correctly. When I reported this life-safety hazard, the staffer's response was, "Don't use your surge protector--they're not compatible with our system." As a licensed Electrical Engineer with 30+ years of experience, I can state that this is 100% nonsense. The surge protector was correctly doing its job by flagging a major wiring fault. Do not follow the staff's advice when they tell you not to use your surge protector to "make it work." That is irresponsible advice that is literally endangering your safety. The staff also insisted that they don't have a problem because previous 30A users without surge protectors had "no problems." This is plausible because a Line/Neutral reversal doesn't usually affect RV operation but the statement shows their complete lack of understanding of the actual problem. A Line/Neutral reversal energizes the neutral side of the RV's electrical system. This means the RV chassis, appliance housings, and internal neutrals, which should be near ground potential, all become live, creating a serious shock or electrocution hazard if someone touches those RV components while grounded. The sites are basic with level concrete pads in good condition and other utilities (water/sewer) were fine. Excellent location near the historic St. Charles district. WiFi is unusable--bring your own Internet source. Restrooms and showers are dated and not in great condition. There was also no hand soap at the bathroom sinks all weekend. This park should be a 7/10 rating, but the electrical hazard drops it to a 5/10. The staff bring the rating down further to a 3/10. read more

I have stayed here on and off for the last three years normally they're pretty good really no issues however today they lost power at my site. I called them. They had an electrician come out to try to fix it and said they had to call the power company I had to move my RV. They didn't have any additional sites for us to go to so I had to leave when I went to ask for a refund for my day for today. They said no they've already charged me for it I said can I get a additional Day the next time I come back and you're like no and I said this is not my fault and she continued to be rude and as I was walking out the door, she said don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out. Don't go here. There are other locations that will treat you better. You're a Customer. read more

I stayed here for 4+ months while working in the area. The spot was level, easy to back into, and very clean. I had a noisy neighbor for a few days, but that's to be expected. Every employee that I interacted with was very helpful and friendly. I enjoyed watching the planes fly overhead on their final approach into STL. Plenty of good restaurants and shopping nearby on Main Street. read more

We were told that this park would be where our 45 day Lewis and Clark tour was to begin so we called and booked 7 extra days in advance of the tour. We told them when we booked that we were with the tour and they said "no problem". The grouchy old man at check in told us if we were with the tour, we were a week early when we arrived. We said we had a reservation for the 7 days prior to the tour beginning. He found it and said there was nothing to connect it to the tour and we would have to move in a week. We moved two spaces over when required. The space we vacated has been empty since our reservation ended. Everything they do is on paper. If they erase your name from the reservation book, you no longer have a reservation. They did that to people on our tour for the day before the tour began. I expect better customer service in this day and age. A computer system and decent help would solve their issues. read more

Love this place so far. We found a great spot under a tree helps with the heat in the summer. They have washers and dryers bathrooms for both male and female, with showers separate from each other. I wish the bathrooms could be cleaner. For example, one night I was using the restroom and the cleaning lady came in to clean, and the only thing she did was take out the trash. She did not wipe anything down. She did not clean the toilets or the showers or sweep, and mop the floor. Other than that my experience so far has been great. I've been here for about a month now and it's been a smooth transition. They don't allow mail. However, packages from Amazon are fine, I've gotten many packages and everything has been delivered right and undamaged. They also have picnic tables at each spot which is very convenient. read more

The office staff was really nice when we made our reservation by phone, and when we arrived and my husband went in, he came back saying "I just had the nicest visit with the lady that owns this place". It's apparently family owned and we couldn't be more satisfied with our short stay. We needed a pull through site, and it was perfect for us at 72' long. It was also paved which is a major plus. I believe all the sites were paved, in various sizes. It will definitely be on our list if we come back through the area. read more

Sundermeier RV Park - Paved large pull through sites - Campgrounds Near Me - Saint Charles, Missouri

Most of the reviews are true. It's a parking lot with no amenities at all. It's an RV Park, not a campground. There are plenty of other nicer options nearby. The customer service isn't horrible but not very welcoming either. The staff leaves at 5, and you're on your own. We checked in at 4:45 and the power didn't work at our spot....15 more minutes and we would've had no power all night. They did move us to a working spot though but they gad a hard time accepting that their site had an issue and insisted it was my RV...it wasn't our motorhome. The sites were roomy and level and the bathrooms were clean enough also. Our biggest complaint was that the whole place is full of parking lot style lights, and it's very bright out at night. You're going to need things to black out your windows and skylights. We probably wouldn't stay again, we'd push onto another place. read more

Visitors are not allowed to wash motorhome/ rigs onsite, yet there are campers with junk spread out all around their campsite. The lawn crew used leaf blowers after mowing, blowing grass all over the sides of parked motorhomes. read more

Paved and level sites. Grounds were immaculate! Very clean. Playground across the street. Overall just a very good campground.

While the RV park itself is paved and is kept clean, there are only basic amenities available to RVer's such as laundry, onsite store, & showers. The dont have a pool / jacuzzi and I dont think they ever plan on putting one in. Nearby in town, there are restaurants, plenty of things to do in a normal town, and theres even a dog park 2 blocks away. What I didnt like, and had never encountered before, was paying for electricity separately from the costs of staying there. They are already the highest priced RV park I have ever stayed at. Its ridiculous that we had to put a $150 deposit for electric. The thing that made me the most upset was how we paid for a full month and ended up having to leave 2 weeks early and they wouldnt give us any kind of a refund. So they get 2 whole weeks for free from us and we get what? Nothing. They chucked it up to the pro-rating thing and how we wouldnt get back anything anyways if we were paying weekly or nightly. Just stupidly ridiculous in my opinion. Another bad thing is, there is a train track right next to the park, and its loud. Sometimes they trains are super long and the noise vibrates you several times a night. Plus, the highway is right next to the train tracks so you have plenty of traffic noise certain times of the day or night. If you are planning on staying one night this place is just fine, but if you stay long term, its not so great. I think the only reason this park is in business is because its the only one around near St Louis. I dont think its cool to be ripping people off like they did us. read more

I cannot believe this place has a high good Sam rating! Restrooms are stinky musty smell, the owner makes Hitler look nice. If you are long term here, you can keep your site looking like a homeless camp, but if you are here for a few days and leave a ladder under your rig, you get verbally thrashed and threatened to be thrown out. The poor site next to us had electrical issues and the owner said "not our problem". Fortunately they had a 30 amp plug so at least they could run one AC seeing it was 92 degrees. The owner said no one could be out that day - two days later still no one came out. Homeless tents everywhere right up the road. Trust me people, SKIP THIS PLACE! read more

Where can I begin... Other than the campsite being clean there is an airport and airplanes are flying right overhead until early morning hours and then they start again at 4:30 the campground has literally flood lights and all your windows So if you can sleep in daylight you're good.. And they start mowing the grass at 7:38 a.m. and they let the grass fly all over your camper and vehicles and really don't care other than that your decision. read more

Initially we thought the park was good, and they warn you about having 100 psi but today we got up to almost NO WATER PRESSURE. My husband went out to check our hoses but the problem was at the water spigot, not us. Same was true of our neighbours, so we used our own water pump. Ok, so that was not the biggest and most rude problem.... It was being woken up at 7:15am by their gardener who was mowing, edging and trimming all the grass/bushes everywhere even in our campsite with power tools/machines and throwing grass everywhere. WHAT HAPPENED TO QUIET HOURS? My husband and neighbor were trying to figure out the water issue, but the Gardner didn't care he wanted them to move so he could get his lawn work done. So instead of having a nice relaxing breakfast before we left on our 6hr drive .... we packed up and got out of there quickly.... Our neighbors said they felt unwelcome too and were gonna do the same. Very disappointing time to end a nice trip to St Louis read more

Stayed while visiting the STL area. The campground is clean, with clean restrooms. However, there are no amenities as part of the facility. The draw is the location (right on the Katy Trail and walking distance to historic St Charles). We'd likely not stay here again considering the price and lack of other amenities. read more

I will start with the good... easy access to the freeway system to get to St. Louis. We unfortunately, despite them advertising "at home wifi speeds", weren't even able to connect to their wifi no matter where we went in the park. Seems clean and people are quite however it's within a residential neighborhood which is near a highway & a train track. It must be near the STL airport because planes fly loudly overhead too. Nice concrete sites, great location. We are not your average RVer's. We have multiple vehicles that we travel with to each job. We were not allowed to park my husband's work truck within the park but instead the owner told us to leave it parked behind the office which concerned us because it was where anyone could easily access it. It's a mechanic's truck in which we have invested over $200,000. Each time that I walked into the office I received an unfriendly greeting from the owner and was asked when we were leaving along with a complaint that they were losing money from all the workers that were staying there. This is our home. We were excited to stay here because we were close to family and friends. We'll never stay here again. If you need to stay for longer than a week I highly suggest another location. read more

Clean, stress free city RV park. There's city noise, planes, trains and automobiles. Had a neighbor who's "camper" looked like a homeless den, but other than being an eyesore, no issues at all. Nice that I could bring my Rottie for a 5 day stay for sports tourney. The staff that we dealt with were friendly and professional. No frills park, but has all the necessities, and that's what we're were looking for. Wi-Fi is typical RV park, so set your expectations accordingly. overall, very happy with my stay, and would stay again! read more

We recently stayed three nights here. While it was a little more expensive than some other parks, the location made the difference. We wanted to be close to the Katy Trail, and this park is so close you can ride your bike directly onto it. The little shops in old St. Charles are also very close. Almost all the sites are level pull throughs, with cement pads, and the roads are paved. Each site has a picnic table. Wifi was especially good at this park! There is no pool. I did not notice any noise from trains, but it was hot and we were using our A/C. The restrooms were the best we've seen. It does seem to cater to big rigs and there didn't seem to be many families with children there. We really enjoyed our time here and would definitely come again. read more

Planned on spending one night here but spent two because the wind got so bad. The park is very clean and the sites are concrete and level. Plenty of room between our site and the next. Yes, it is $54 a night (with Good Sam and you have to show your card) but I didn't think that was horrible. It was very quiet and dark at night. I had read about a train but didn't hear one on the elevated track until about noon the second day, when we were outside, I never heard one at night. My daughter agreed that she had never heard the train before either. Shower was very clean with decent water pressure and plenty of hot water. Dog park is a short walk down the levy and is a huge 3 section park. Unfortunately, it was closed when we walked down there because it was so wet, but it was a really nice city park. Downtown St. Charles is about a mile away, and Uber is plentiful. Downtown has a lot of neat little bars and restaurants and shops and is a neat little place. The "crotchety old man" in the office was very friendly to me, maybe it is how you treat him that you get back in return? For the location and cleanliness, I didn't think it was overpriced and I will definitely be staying there in the future. read more

I'm giving it one for the nice lady in the office. Her counterpart was not as pleasant. This place has nice level sites and that's it. It's basically a large parking lot. We got screamed at for building a fire in our own fire pit because the sites don't have them. We were told that it is against the law. If this is true then the law would be a little easier to find. If its against the law why is the guy across the street selling firewood? And why are there clearly used firepits in the backyards of the surrounding houses. It's not against the law! Maybe it's against Mr grumpy ' s law but if you are going to not allow fires it would make sense to add that to the campground rules. Dont lie to me and treat me like I'm stupid. This is an overpriced parking lot. I would have been better off parking my camper at Wal - Mart. read more

Clean park, way TOOOOOO expensive! Was told it had cable, but after a couple of days trying to get it we found out why. We went and bought a new cable we searched all the connections in our motorhome, very frustrating. Finally went to the office to tell them there cable must not work in the spot we were in. But No.... They said we had to put up a deposit of $35.00 to get the box to put on the cable and then call the cable co our selves to get cable. Why were we not told this at check-in? I even asked them if we got cable and wi-fi and they only answered Yes with no explaination for the cable. The showers did not have HOT water. Note posted on the door. Really...... And the wouldn't even offer a discount for the inconvenience. The spaces are nice and level, but is that worth the extream price? read more

Stayed at this park one night. While it is VERY expensive, it has paved pads and paved roads. No problem with using the satellite dish, however, the train does interrupt one's sleep. We stayed at this park from Aug 2011 - Jan 2012 then again in March 2012 until we moved to another RV park in April. This place is pretty expensive, especially for how small the sites are. One plus is that the sites are nice concrete. There are no trees. Each site has about 2 ft of grass. There is NO parking for your vehicle. You have to park your truck next to the camper making it hard to get in & out of your vehicle and your camper. You absolutely are not allowed to park in the "street" of the camp ground. Instead you have to park fairly far away from your site and they only have a handful of parking spots available, which the workers just about take over. It is unacceptable for you to also, park your vehicle in another empty site. I understand their reasoning, however, the RV park was about 75% empty and at that point I would think it would be acceptable rather than walking a far distance with a 2 yr old and a 4 yr old any time you need to go somewhere. This park is VERY loud. Near the airport so you constantly have large airplanes flying low over your camper. Also, a train that runs at least 4-5 times a day right next to the park blowing it's horn. We had an issue in April with the park not mowing. The grass was about upper shin height and made it near impossible to pick up after our pet. Other campers complained about the grass and it wasn't long before we were finding ticks all over our pets, on my kids and on myself! I had a couple others in the camp ground come by our site and ask if we had found any ticks and to notify us of the issue and mentioned that they had complained to the office who kept giving excuses. This is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE! That was the straw that broke the camels back and we left! We are now happily staying in Fenton. Sundermeier has washer and dryers, however, they fail to tell you that the 6-8 average size dryers do NOT dry your clothes. In fact they do not even warm up. When I notified the office the owner got very offended and asked me to PROVE to her that the dryers weren't working. Really?! Seriously she took me into the laundry room, stuck a quarter in the machine, waited about 1-2 minutes for it to "warm up", stuck her arm in and said, "see it's hot, you are wrong." Then pulled my arm into the machine where I found, cool air. I told her it was not hot, not even warm. She walked back into her office and that was the end of the conversation. They do have 2 commercial machines, that are usually taken, but its because they DO work. I wish I hadn't wasted all my quarters on the machines that weren't drying clothes. The owner's brother lives in one of the cabins and enjoys walking around at night addressing various "issues" he has with his sister (owner). I brought this to bother her attention and her husbands and they advised me that they knew he had said it before to someone else and apologized (which was a nice change). Unfortunately that didn't stop him from talking about her and other family issues. The park is right next to the Katy Trail and very close to a dog park which is excellent. For the price, this place should offer larger sites, more parking, and friendlier staff! We will not be staying at this RV park again. read more

I was a monthly park resident at Sundermeier RV Park and have the following comments. They charged a substantial premium for electricity and LPG, WiFi did not perform well with frequent outages, no CATV, off season derelict units were accommodated and the nearly constant noise of planes, trains and automobiles made quiet enjoyment impossible. If you can put up with these types of qualities then this is the place for you. There is no nearby competition, thus you have no other choice. read more

Make no mistake this camp is run by a crotchety old man and it caters to the big rigs. After a month of camping this was our last stop as we were passing through St. Louis. It was the most expensive campground we stayed in in a month at $59 but when I checked out the next morning I was charged an additional $10 for my children. So those big rigs that ran their air conditioning all night and sucked his electricity down stayed cheaper than I did because I had kids. Clearly "family" is not important. If it was they would give a 5.00 discount per kid, not charge extra. But don't worry if you have pets, those are free and free to shit wherever they please! read more
