I advised that I was interested in that vehicle, requested a price and was told $9900. After being provided with photos and the vin to perform a car fax check, I was advised that the vehicle was actually $11,900. I was then advised that the actual, final price of the vehicle was $12,900... Now, I understand that mistakes happen but, who changes the price three times in an hour and refuses to make it right?

I have almost 20 years experience working in…read moredealerships and my experience there was as if the employees in sales had a few months in the business. I had a salesperson who has to be new and the sales management team doesn't appear to have any training or standards in place for the sales staff. I purchased a pre-owned truck with only 7k miles and was given only one key. I asked my salesperson for the 2nd key and he said they didn't get it with the truck. The sales person didn't even go outside with me to show anything about the truck, dealership or anything that is required by GM for maintenance. When my salesperson contacted me, only because his CRM(sales software) said to, I asked about the key again. He said he will get back with me, here it is a few weeks later and nothing. I know I paid ALL the money for the truck the least they can do is provide me with the 2nd key. Now I understand supply and demand but they cannot confuse that for talent, which they have none. I also signed my loan agreements in the showroom and not in a private office. I asked for 72 months as my maximum term. The sales manager submitted my loan for 84 months thinking it is all about payment. The funny thing is I told him payment was not a concern prior to him submitting anything. I got upset when it took even longer for him to get the 72 months I initially asked for. When I challenged the rate given I was told that things have changed since I left the business. Well, I haven't left the business I now support car dealerships across the country and have a firm grasp of what is going on. I was able to secure a rate in the 3's from 5.79%. I expected sub par service when I went there and got it. What bothers me is the salesperson keeps brushing off my requests for the key and never gets back to me. So this is the only thing I can do is give others fair warning about this dealer's novice sales team I dealt with.

But that is not the case with this dealership. When business's start to believe that customers needs them more than " their needing the customer", a bad paradigm shift has taken place. In short, I was excited about a specific vehicle this dealer had on the lot. I filled out an online customer contact form and was promptly contacted by a sales person. The sales man was was not particularly cordial, but generally factual and direct. I confirmed the availability of the vehicle I was interested in. I then inquired about my sending info and pics on a rarely driven, garage kept vehicle for trade in value. The salesman was insistent that I bring the vehicle in to obtain trade in value. Its well over an hour drive to reach the dealer from my home. And given "Covid times" every business I have been in touch with has been very accommodating in outlining and respecting contactless protocols. Carter Chevrolet did not get the memo on this interface option. It was obvious in the tone and tenor of the salesperson. Bottom line, i'm not driving 1.5 hours on I-85 to get a probable low ball offer on the trade quote for a 12 year old vehicle. I forwarded nearly 20 pics of the possible trade in vehicle along with the VIN number and a few added notes like mileage, etc, I got a phone call from the salesperson later that day with a ridiculously low trade value offer. Additionally, the salesperson tells me that my stated mileage does not align with a carfax report ran by the dealer. I figured this could be easily addressed by sending a picture of the odometer to the dealer. I took the pic and promptly sent it. The salesperson calls me an hour later and says "Your odometer does not align with the carfax report. It must have been rolled back". I'm thinking "Are you F-ing serious"!! There is a difference in 7k miles and these guys are accusing me of rolling back an odometer on a 12 year old vehicle. I let them know that I was offended by the trade in value offered and horrified by their accepting some carfax report over my picture submittal of the actual odometer. Who rolls back odometers? And whoever takes on such a ridiculous task, probably does not roll them back by just 7,000 miles. Their report read 80,000 miles, but actual miles are 73,300, as reflected in my pic. There was some mix up somewhere. When I forwarded them a pic of the actual odometer, I sincerely thought they would value customer documentation over some report that is obviously in error. But their response; "You apparently rolled back the odometer at some point". Unbelievable!! The salesman detected my dismay and reached out to the GM. At this point, I had no interest in purchasing a vehicle from these folks.. If this is what you get before the sale, imagine what you get following. In any case, I got a text from the GM basically stating, ,..... "You didn't bring the vehicle in for review, The salesman is a nice person. Here's the carfax report. It reads 80k miles. You need to take any issue you have up with your local DMV, not us. We hope you find a dealer closer to your location". Paraphrasing, but true! You can't make this stuff up. I promptly sent the GM my perspectives on placing customers first along with key lessons to consider moving forward. He responded, "We don't need your lessons". My final response "You've already got'em" Draw you own conclusions.

Before we even set foot on the car lot, I had sent in all my documentation (Drivers Licence, Proof of income, residence etc.), Brian and John (I think that's the right name) checked my information, interviewed me for the loan and had an approval amount before even getting there. Although we chose a car we absolutely loved from the internet pictures, it happened to be about $4,000.00 more than our approval, but they worked with us, our down was only $500.00 more than for something in our approval amount, we received a much lower interest rate than expected. They deal with people from all walks of life, from those making minimum wage to those making over $150k a year...no matter what your situation, you're not brought in with a false sense of what you're approved for then sent to what I call the "Dog Pound" of ratty cars, you know up front before even going what you're approved for and are given a choice of late model, quality vehicles (in our case we were determined to get the one we fell for). Brian had the car we were interested in waiting for us when we showed up, handed us the keys for a test drive and when we returned, it was a matter of getting the car on our insurance, signing the paperwork, paying the downpayment and we were on our way!!! You will be treated with the respect and integrity you deserve, nothing hidden like 99% of the car dealers out there. Everybody was friendly, they make you feel like family, they're professional and don't pull anything over your eyes... If you're looking for a car, bottom of the barrel horrible credit or top of the chart excellant credit, you're going to get awesome treatment... I recommend this dealer (with multiple lots to pull from) 150%... If I could give them 10 Stars instead of 5... I would...

Thankfully, we were a mile away from a truck stop where we were towed to Marburger CDJR. I called ahead and spoke with Megan O'Neil the service advisor. we arrived and Megan had all of my information ready and the technicians diagnosed the issue. While they didn't have the coolant hose in stock, they drove to another dealership in Fort Mill to pick up the right part. When the part arrived and the tech went to install the new hose, they realized that this hose was for a different engine type and was tool long. At this point in the day, they could not get another part in time before closing. The part was mislabeled by the manufacturer, but the dealership in Fort Mill could deliver the correct part the next day. The dealership was very apologetic and provided us with a used truck off their lot to stay with family for the night. The dealership, did not have to do this, but it was appreciated, so our family did not have to stay at a hotel and incur an additional cost for the night. The next day the part arrived and it was installed. The dealership was very professional and even washed my truck and reduced the price of the repair due to the inconvenience with the wrong part being delivered the day before. at no time did we ask for the price to be reduced or any other special requests. Megan and others went above and beyond during this situation to help our family during this ordeal. If we lived in the area, we would definitely have our truck serviced here. My family was treated with respect and decency by everyone at the dealership and in this day in age that is very rare. Thank you to everyone at Marbuger CDJR. We appreciate your kindness and professionalism. Best regards, LG
