This place was the closest option and was even walkable from our hotel, which made it super convenient. I originally wanted to rent a regular bike without any power assistance, but apparently my only option was an electric bike. I was definitely uncomfortable at first since it was my first time riding one, but after a little while I got the hang of it and honestly would recommend giving it a chance. The pedal assist ended up making the rides a lot more enjoyable, especially in the heat. We ended up riding close to 30 miles over two days and got to see so much more of the island than we would have if we had just driven everywhere. We were told the bikes could even glide across the sandy beach if we wanted to try that, but the sun was just too intense for us to attempt it. We rented the bikes for 24 hours, and the total came out to over $100. The bikes themselves had a range of around 50 miles, which was more than enough for exploring. The owner still personally runs the business, and he was incredibly pleasant and sweet. I always love supporting small businesses, especially ones that make your vacation experience even better.

Was uncomfortable until we stopped at the Avocado Bike Shop and they fixed it. After 13 miles my battery died and had to ride 3.5 miles back to the shop with a heavy dead bike. They are supposed to go 30-35 miles... I turned it in as my friends continued with their ride for 2 more hours. Owner insisted on a full refund. Again, super nice people! I just got a bike with a bad battery...

I wasn't keen on bring one down so rentals were the choice. Having several others go in we ordered a good ten bikes of various sizes for the week from Mike's since the were the least expensive. Now these were not top-of-the-line 10-speed, full suspension, titanium bike frames with wide ratio cassettes, no these are simple single gear cruisers for just utility transportation. So not for those looking to do hardcore biking; but to just get around and enjoy the sights these bikes make the grade. Accolades: --Just $25 for the week per bike. That's right. For those scoring at home, that for less than the cost of two milkshakes you can get a solid cruiser for a week. --Free delivery for two or more bikes. --Well maintained, oiled, and strong these bikes had a better ride than I expected. --Cruisers come in 26", 24", 20", 16" in men and unisex each. After filling them up at a gas station cart went flat again and stranded little ones several miles away. One adult bike chain came off twice. After calling was told all they could do was replace bikes. New cart Delivered but this time both tires were flat? Bikes need to be checked before delivery. Whoever I talked to got upset when I ask for a refund on one bike and cart. Disappointed with Mike's Bikes. Won't be renting from them again.

Fantastic service!!!…read more Visiting Hilton Head for a few weeks and needed a new pair of running sneakers. Folks at the resort highly recommended Go Tri Sports. These guys did not disappoint! Alfred (who is the owner, I believe) is fantastic with the customers - super patient and knowledgeable. He takes the time to put you on the treadmill and watch you walk / run to look for any issues (i.e. pronation) and then, combined with your input, recommends sneakers without pushing any one brand over another. There were folks there trying on multiple pairs of sneakers and Al was as patient as could be with all of us. I highly recommend Go Tri Sports for all of your running needs! (Incidentally, they also carry other triathlon related equipment, such as that for biking and swimming so they're a full service shop.)

They have Beach Cruisers in three sizes. They also rent the pull behind trailers for toddlers. If there is an issue with a bike they will come fix it or replace the bike with a different one within a day or two. All arrangements can be made over the phone. Ask for a group discount. Bikes are dropped off at your vacation address the day you arrive and picked up after you leave the Island.

No one answered and I was sent to voicemail. I left a message and did not receive a response. I loaded the bike into the car and went to Hilton Head Outfitters, where they kindly inflated both tires for me. I then went out for a bike ride. About a mile and a half out, I heard a loud springing sound from the rear of the bike, like the fender had fallen off. When I pulled over, I discovered the back tire was completely flat. The bike was unrideable and I had to walk it back to the Palmetto Dunes General Store, where I locked it up and walked the rest of the way back to my condo. I spoke to a woman at Island Cruisers the following morning. Instead of apologizing for my experience and offering to make it right, she told me the bike was in good condition when it was dropped and that I must've ridden over something, an interesting response given that I had not ridden the bike at the time I discovered the flat tires. She claimed the photograph of the bike identifying where it was located in the garage proved the tires weren't flat. Of course, there was no one sitting on the bike or squeezing the tires at the time the photo was taken so this claim is utter nonsense. The only positive in the entire experience is that they did issue a full refund. However, that was a small consolation. That they would blame the customer instead of considering the possibility that the crew dropped off the bike without thoroughly checking it out speaks volumes.

One of the bikes was returned with the brakes still not adjusted properly and continues to have braking issues. Another bike had to be taken back because a cable that should have been replaced during the original service was missed. The owner even acknowledged that the cable should have been replaced initially, yet we were charged again when we picked up the bike. When you spend that kind of money on repairs, you expect the work to be done correctly the first time and for a shop to stand behind its service when mistakes are made. Instead, we were left with ongoing problems and additional charges to correct work that should have been included in the original repair. Unfortunately, based on our experience, we cannot recommend this shop.
