First time I've tried acupuncture, and I have to admit it, I'm sold. I had always put it off because I didn't want the cost associated with having to pay for multiple visits, but this "community" setting has won me over. The first visit you get a tour along with learning the rules and regulations. After that, you're on your own. You walk in (either with or without an appointment), pay at the pay station - and you set the amount you want to pay - then take a seat in one of the recliners. Okay, this part is a bit odd; you are in a massive dimly lit room with calming new age music playing. After you take a seat, the acupuncturist on duty that day comes over, quizzes you about your issues, then proceeds to place needed in your arms, hands, legs, feet, ears, and/or head. It does not hurt - there is mostly just a pressure, if you feel anything at all. This community environment, instead of having individual cubicles or offices, is what enables them to keep the prices so low. So, while you may hear snoring, coughing, whispering, etc. you are paying a lot less then you would at many offices. read more

Why 3 stars? Because I suppose acupuncture just isn't for me. --- --- --- First of all, I will say this - if acupuncture IS your thing, I fully support the mission of this center. They have a "pay what you can" policy that places all each session between $15-$40 and it's totally up to the client what amount they would like to pay within that range. Plus, my interactions with the woman at the front desk and the therapist were very pleasant. If I were ever to have acupuncture done again, I would come right back here. My rating is more about the service itself, and might be more of an indictment on acupuncture as a whole, rather than the business. I've had lower back and hip pain for years. I've tried everything under the sun to mitigate this pain, but nothing has worked. I recently asked my physical therapist if he thought acupuncture would be helpful and he suggested that it was worth a shot. I saw the phenomenal reviews for this studio, so it was pretty obvious where I'd be going for my first experience. Booking my appointment online was super easy, and I was able to get something that was only about an hour or so later from when I actually made the appointment. When I arrived, I was given new patient paperwork and was kicking myself when I read that headphones could be used, because I didn't even think to bring mine. However, before I was sent back for treatment, I was asked to please turn my phone completely off before leaving the lobby, so I'm not sure how one would listen to headphones when their phone isn't allowed to be one. Either way, this was not a huge issue. I received a brief tour of the facility and then was shown to my chair. I was asked to remove my shoes, socks, watch and everything in my pockets. The recliner I was asked to sit in was incredibly comfortable - that was probably my favorite part of the entire experience. When the acupuncturist came by, he asked me where my ailments were. He then gave me a quick overview of what to expect and then began poking me with the needles. He mentioned that he would be poking me all over my body, but I didn't expect zero attention to be given to my actual problem areas. He poked my hands, my arm, my head and my ankles. A few of the needles hurt going in and a few others would hurt pretty badly if I even moved a small amount. Sitting still for about 45 minutes was virtually impossible, so I had quite a few instances of accidentally moving the needles into some pretty painful positions, on accident. Eventually the acupuncturist came by to remove the needles. He asked me if I felt better. It made me laugh because it just didn't seem possible that my chronic pain of 2 years could actually dissolve after tiny needles were inserted into random parts of my body. I felt comfortable and relaxed due to the delightful chair and peaceful music that was being played, but of course it was a zero in terms of helping my pain. Does acupuncture actually work for certain problems and certain people. I'm sure. But for me and this issue, it's just not for me. read more

First time here and first time getting acupuncture! This spot was recommended to me by several folks within my spouses network. I wasn't sure what to expect, but Luke made me feel comfortable right away and explained the entire process. Once I was in my chair, the acupuncturist came over pretty quickly and she went into greater detail on what my concerns were and what she would be doing. The time went by pretty quickly, which surprised me - I am not a sit around and chill person. The only thing I wish I had differently was use the bathroom beforehand!! WOW! As an Acupuncturist and Kundalini Yogi I was seeking a very unique type of healing experience today. I found SHCA and Gururas via the Kundalini studio I attend. Everyone that I encountered there today made me feel very cared for. I've had hundreds of Acupuncture treatments and this was one of the best ones ever!!! She helped relieve the stress and neck pain I came in for and pulled my needles on time for me to make another appointment. Grateful to have found this gem. The setting is beautiful and serene. I can't say enough about how great this experience has been. Gururas, the acupuncturist, makes you feel relaxed as soon as you meet her and NJ who checks you in is very friendly. NJ meets you at the door with the proper PPC due to the Covid19 issue and sanitizes your hands and takes your temperature. You have to wear a mask during your entire visit/session. This was my first time having acupuncture and it was a nice experience. Very relaxing and that's not why I even went there. One day I was so aggravated, mad, tense and ready to explode. I didn't even want to go to my session but I did. When I left the session I was amazed at how much better I felt. A 100% turn around in attitude. I just felt calm. And again, that wasn't the main reason I was going there. read more

Where do I begin? As a midwife I encourage all of my clients to seek out care from a reputable acupuncturists. Before SHCA opened this was difficult to do in our area. After meeting Gururas and NJ I knew my clients would be in very capable and trustworthy hands. My clients have all had nothing but great things to say I now I personally have been seeing them for treatment for about 2 years. Gururas has also treated my 9 year old daughter when sick which has been helpful eachtime with cupping, needling, and chinese herbs. I really appreciate their sliding scale and monthly specials that make care very accessible. My self care routine has benefited greatly thanks to their flexible hours. Not only do they have acupuncture, but you can also get massage, cupping, and herbal therapy. They work on a sliding scale so you pay what you can afford based on their rates for the service you require. It is a small staff but they are the nicest people! Acupuncture does not hurt. I was weary on my first visit. The needles are so thin! If you notice anything it only lasts maybe 5 seconds before it is gone. Usually, I stay for an hour. They have added signs you can take to your chair indicating what time they should wake you. That's right, almost everyone falls asleep during acupuncture. The massage can be booked for 30, 60, or 90 minutes. There are several techniques and she is great. You can also get cupping. This is usually done by inserting a flame into a glass dome then placing on your body to pull the skin in the dome. This is not the case here. Instead of fire, a suction pump is used. The circles that remain disappear in 10-14 days. I have tried it all. Everything I have tried has improved my health and my quality of life. read more

I have also seen her for a few herbal consults and was very pleased with the results. They also have an awesome Reiki Practioner named "Jimmy" when you need some extra healing and relaxation. I've been looking into acupuncture to better my health problems. However,I was looking at no insurance, not a doctor I would trust ( The whole needle thing ) And not being able to afford the treatments. I was driving down E. Lambright to Central, And Bam There was Seminole Heights Comm. Acupuncture.!!!! I went in late Jan. in chronic pain, and I have been going at least 3 times a week. I'm not taking meds like I was.I had such pain in both of my knee's so hard getting out of bed ,and some days not at all. It's much better now!! As well as being treated for OA, and Fibromyalgia, nerve pain in my foot. I would say my pain now is a 4,5. And from when taking pills and a level of 7,8 What really makes it work is that word Community Acupuncture \ They have a sliding scale of payment per visit. It's $15,00 to $40,00 dollars. You pay what you can afford. That's how I can go 3 times a week, and I feel so much better. I was in the Tampa area for an extended time period recently. Being unable to see my acupuncturist at home (whom I see 2X per week), I found Seminole Heights Acupuncture. I went for treatment 2 X per week for 4 of the weeks I was in the area. What a fantastic experience! I brought my sister along for her first acupuncture treatment and now she is a client on a regular basis. Gururas is skilled and compassionate. This place is ama zing! The staff if professional and kind. Always accommodating with walk ins and pop up appointments. I've been coming 3x a week for 2 months now and have noticed drastic changes in the symptoms that led me to try acupuncture. (Headaches, ibs, anxiety, low energy) It's also nice to just have that hour away from life. The setting is a group setting, but I kind of like that. I was skeptical at first but everyone is here for the same reasons. The music is super relaxing and the giant recliners are beyond comfortable. They offer blankets for your use also. I like to bring my heating pad and lay on that. Some people read, some sleep, some just relax and unwind. Both of the acupuncturists are awesome and really listen to your concerns and are extremely knowledgeable and answer/explain any questions you may have. There is also a reference library for your use that's stocked full of great reads. They offer herb consultation and massage also. Both on my list to check out. Highly recommended. Love this place! While I have another location that I mainly prefer to frequent for acupuncture, this is a great local place that I can continuously afford; especially as a student actively pursuing a degree. This place is amazing because it's designed to fit multiple budgets! They allow you to pay on a sliding scale, and there are multiple treatments taking place within the room. Which is great because it allows the cost to be more affordable for all people who seek treatment. I'm a huge fan of bringing the medical practice of acupuncture to the community, because it allows acupuncture to become more mainstream; while also exposing those who weren't too familiar with the practice a chance to partake in alternative medicine at a low cost. The attendant and the front desk personal were extremely well informative, as well as personable. They provided me with an abundance of information about their practice, as well as provided me with great customer service. The building was well-kempt, furniture was cozy, and inviting. Needles were brand new and sterile. They also provided blankets for your comfort. As soon as the needles were inside of me I was in a state of deep meditation, and my boyfriend who received his treatment across from me, was knocked out into another dimension. If I could hug every one of the folks who developed and work at Seminole Heights Acupuncture I would! They ARE that amazing!!!!!! I have looming spinal surgery and immense pain. Before opting for surgery, I am trying every single alternative to rule out all options. Since the center is literally minutes from my home and has extensive hours, I decided to try acupuncture for pain management. And what a treat...never imagined I would say treat about being poked with needles, but it is true. This center is an extremely organized, highly professional, incredibly affordable, clean, community wellness service that offers premium health care options. The acupuncture physicians are skillful, knowledgeable, compassionate, encouraging and kind. This isn't a "new age" or hokey environment, rather SHA is a true wellness center that focuses on the ingenious techniques of a centuries old acupuncture protocol mixed with the skill and compassion of the practitioner . All this care happens in soft, cuddly, reclining teddy bear chairs, amongst meditative music and beside others seeking wellness also. I attend 3 x weekly, the pain is still intense but I get relief to help it become more manageable. Yet that is only the tip of the iceberg.
