I have studied alternative medicine for years. Shiatsu, Herbalism etc. I understood much of what he was saying but he would not stop talking at me regardless of many times I interrupted and said, 'I know about that'. He mentioned my possibly being anemic and I let him know that I had been a couple years ago but that it was no longer the case. He again launched into a lecture, even though it didn't apply to me. He asked me about my diet and I told him it was Paleo/Zone and that I eat very few simple carbs. A teaspoon or two of honey daily and a small handful of gluten free crackers a week. He didn't seem to believe me. He went on to say Paleo often included desserts, disregarding my very clear description of what I ate. He went on to talk to me about weight loss. Something I did NOT ask help with. Without knowing how I gained the weight it was clear he made assumptions on how I gained it. When I shared that my integrative doc told me that the Vyvanse another physician had prescribed, to help with my AF, killed my appetite, put me into starvation mode and that my body hoarded every calorie I ate. That this integrative doc said the best way to lose the weight was to stabilize the raging hypoglycemia that Vyvanse had created by eating small healthy meals, frequently. Dr. Cole admitted that he had never heard of this kind of body imbalance. So, how could he give advice without asking questions? And that was the crux of the matter. Lectures are the WORST form of education. I have run workshops and can tell you, education is a matter of keeping things simple and repeating the info. He was a horrible example of what is effective. I hung in there as long as I did because I had given my credit card info to make the appointment. After spending $350 I hoped that maybe something would shift. Unfortunately it did not. After my experience with him, I was passed along to one of his associates. He too started to lecture me. I informed him that I had taken 3 saliva tests that he had referred to and was well acquainted with the procedure. This assistant even said that I needed to bring in the test and do it there so that it would be clear that it was done correctly. It was very patronizing, as was Dr. Cole. I realized the assistant was only following Coles directives and let him wind down his speech. He seemed like a very kind person. I think this was the worst experience I have ever had in a doctor's office. The level of disconnect was tremendous. It was like dealing with a full blown Narcissist that couldn't hear anything outside his 'world' experience. I never returned. I swallowed my bile and the $350 loss. And I say run! There are better options out there like Docs outside the Box. Dealing with such arrogance has a psychological effect on patients. How can anyone be helped if the Doc doesn't understand basic human respect?

You will immediately feel welcome at your first appointment! They always greet you with a smile and true concern. I am your average female having suffered years of eating SAD (standard American diet) and as a result I had high blood pressure and was taking medication for 10 yrs. for it. In addition I started having other symptoms, which I did not put together as a whole from my bad gut health; bloating, indigestion, rashes, unable to loose weight, headaches, hot flashes, loss of balance, etc. When my primary Dr. suggested more meds for cholesterol control after a 5 min. appointment, I knew it was time to get off the medical treadmill. A friend recommend him to me, so after research into the 'Wellness Way' I set an appointment to interview him! And I was happily surprised to find that he had the whole picture in providing health care guidance on every level. First he sat down and we just talked for almost an hour! Unheard of with most doctors today! He recommended a few diet changes to help with stomach pain, that did begin to help right away. Ordered blood and other tests that later brought surprising results of how messed up my gut and hormones were! Then with real concrete evidence of what was wrong he prescribed the right list of healthy supplements. Then after follow-up appointments he would adjust the ones needed and several months later repeat the tests to see that most of all the bad results were now good results! Now about 6 mo. later, my blood pressure is normal and I am off all medications!! And bonus I feel great and have lost weight without any crazy diets. Dr. Ryan is the real deal, no miracle cures or fad diets, just common sense, kindness, wisdom, love and with a little discipline from me, I am on the road to great health and feel fantastic! Trust me if you are sick, tired and fed up with big healthcare doctors and the unending medications, CALL DR. RYAN!

I've had nothing but positive experiences with Dr Matusewicz. She guided me through my completely…read moresuccessful cancer treatment, and I am 100% sure I would not have gotten the same treatment without her. I'm by far the healthiest I've ever been in my life now, and I have more insight into why I'm healthy than ever before... I think the negative reviews below were from people who did not fully understand the value this type of practice brings. I would not think of this practice as the ONLY practice to visit. But I would NEVER want to venture through modern medicine without the type of guidance this practice provides. You'll get the most value from this if you're someone who is proactive about their health and longevity. If you're into that - prepare for the best experience of your life. Most people don't care about their health until it's already failed. Dr Matusewicz has some miracle-patients that have recovered from crippling ailments as well -- but my point is, you have to be willing to make some small changes in your life (and not just depend on surgeries and prescriptions to reactively fix things that have failed). If you do unfortunately need to go into surgeries and prescriptions, Dr Matusewicz becomes even more necessary. I would have had my surgeries done by a junior surgeon at the local hospital if it was not for her. She sprung into action, and somehow managed to get me under one of the world's leading surgeon's knife within 72hrs of my diagnosis (at one of the world's best hospitals). I would have paid 100x what I have paid Dr Matusewicz for just this one example of how she's helped me and my family. I constantly tell people they NEED to get a Doctor like Dr Matusewicz to help them and their families. I truly feel terrible that people are forced to stumble through modern medicine without the true representation someone like her provides... But if you're expecting the same-old general care physician, who is just going to repeat whatever they were taught in med school - then this is not the practice for you. Dr Matusewicz is constantly exploring the cutting edges of nutrition, diagnostics & medicine. She will help you to achieve optimal health for LIFE - not just prescribe some random pill and call herself a savior. There's very few things I recommend more highly than her services!

Traditional medicine doesn't allow the time and trial required and most functional practitioners do not have the ability to prescribe the required drugs. They are limited to supplements. They cannot access all the tools available. Dr Matusewicz has both! She has the desire and intelligence to get to the root cause, AND the credentials to prescribe the appropriate drugs. In short, she has the whole toolbox and knows how to use it. She is thorough, takes plenty of time with me, and listens to what I have to say. I feel so much better than I did this time last year.
