First off, I am a licensed boat broker and deal with many marine companies but this was the first time I went to Suncoast. I normally sell boats between 30-80ft, not inflatables. This boat was bought as a tender or dingy for a larger yacht. I did not disclose this to Suncoast when I brought it in so I was just another customer. I took this inflatable boat into Suncoast for an estimate on repairing or replacing the tubes on a 2004 14ft inflatable center console. They charge a $85-$90 dollar fee for looking it over, which is fair enough. If they do the repair the fee goes towards the repair. I spoke to Brad to get the scoop on what needed to be done and he was so incredibly rude and nasty I could hardly believe it. He yelled at me the entire time I was on the phone with him and said my boat was a piece of crap, it was garbage. I could not believe he was saying this! I never raised my voice, because I knew better, and any time I tried to talk to ask a question he cut me off as if I was wasting his time. He said it was sitting in the water for years, which was a total exaggeration because it had only been a few months. Mind you, I brought it in for repairs on the tubes, or replacement, the rest of the boat is in good condition, new motor, new seat cushions, new fish finder, new everything however it did need a bath. There were a few barnacles between the hull and the tubes and I can understand that challenge however, he did not need to yell and carry on like a mad man. I took two hours and removed them all myself with a plastic scraper and some barnacle buster, it was no big deal. If he didn't want the work because he was too busy after a boat show then he should just say that nicely and move on. Instead he criticized and yelled as if I put him out because he was too busy. I never raised my voice but I finally had enough and told him he was being rude and to stop yelling. At that, he yelled more and told me to pick up my boat. Boy, I did with pleasure!!! This guy is ready to pop and I wouldn't want to be around when he does! When I got there, my brand new lower unit had scrapes and nicks and of course, no before pictures when I brought it in so I will not only have to eat that expense but also the original $85-$90 for him looking at it and then yelling at me. All I can say is, if you like abuse, this is your place. If you like professionals, go down to the inflatable place in south St Petersburg where you get treated like a real human being and professional. I had the work done and it is perfect. Suncoast just lost out on a SIX THOUSAND dollar sale for hypalon tubes that bought from someone else! In addition, I surely would not refer a customer to them! read more
