We renovated a large Brooklyn brownstone and somehow completely overlooked window coverings until…read morewe moved in and realized we were living in a giant fishbowl. As home interior enthusiasts, we initially thought we could handle it ourselves without bringing in professionals. That confidence faded quickly when we realized our window sizes and ceiling heights were far from standard and didn't align with off-the-shelf options. We tried to make it work anyway, ordering drapery panels that we felt were close enough to have them them altered at the same place we take our clothes. Big mistake! The fit and finish of our Frankenstein drapes were disappointing, and honestly, they made us sad every time we looked at them. Enter Shade Love. Their pricing made custom drapery a real option for us, and their measuring and installation guides were incredibly helpful. The entire process felt approachable and well thought out, even for people who had already made a few missteps. The end result was exactly what we had hoped for: beautiful, well-fitted drapes that finally do justice to our home. If you're dealing with unusual windows or high ceilings and think custom is out of reach, Shade Love is absolutely worth it.

Got blackout shades from here and after using them for several weeks, we are pretty disappointed…read more They are definitely not blackout on installation, theres a large amount if light that comes in through the sides. We flagged this after installation and they say its standard. Additionally, the shades themselves get caught on themselves rolling up, and sometimes will not stay in place we want them, and just roll all the way down. The employees and the installation was fine, but the product really feels not as was advertised to us personally. UPDATE: After I posted this original review at 3 stars, the owner of the company reached out and offered to provide sidechannels that would reduce the light. We declined the offer because we don't like the look of the channels themselves, but the company did come out and replace one of the rollers, which was defective upon installation. I have updated this to four stars because of the service and offer.

I've used The Best Shades twice over the years. Both times, they were excellent. The first time was to install nearly 9ft wide shade across 3 panels of continuous windows. Other shade companies told me I had to break it apart into two parts because of the way shades are manufactured but Marat thought of an idea to select fabrics that look good horizontally and vertically so that the wide shade can be made horizontally. Great idea and great execution. The second job was to replace all the rest of the shades in our apartment. I didn't think twice to call Marat again. Efficient, professional, well priced and kind staff (my toddler insisted on peeking in during the install in each room and the team was very sweet to her).

They also wouldn't explain what broke and claimed user error such as water damage despite the blinds being in a dry safe environment with almost no use. I'd expect for the price, they would help me understand what broke, as I couldn't trust paying for their repairs as it could just break again. It seems that connecting any battery wand to the custom sized larger blind instantly shorts the battery wand, making it impossible to use. Per M&A, this is user error, even though they assured me the custom blind size was fully supported. They aren't standing behind that, and there is apparently no way to fix my blinds purchased from M&A. For the price, you can certainly do better. Otherwise you may end up with permanently non functional blinds.
