Drop in from out of state. Great gym very inviting - super fit group! I'll be back for sureread more

This review is long overdue as I first darkened the doors of CrossFit Immense on my 48th birthday…read morein September 2014. As you can see I'm giving this business and owner 5 stars. 5 well-deserved stars. If you're new to CrossFit like I was, I can't think of a better "box" (that's crossfit vernacular for "gym") to go to in order to try out the regimen to see if you like it. Having previously relied on my own gym routine of lifting weights and doing cardio, I wasn't seeing the results I thought I should be seeing and I wanted to shake up my routine and try something different. I quickly felt comfortable and over a day or two I was no longer concerned about my appearance or lack of skills. There are some seasoned athletes at every crossfit box, but my experience is that I see athletes at every stage of skill and fitness at CrossFit Immense. Lyman is the owner and principal trainer here, and he's very knowledgeable, personable and professional -- if you're starting out at a gym routine or even if you're a seasoned weight-lifter, it's always good to be well-coached -- you'll get that experience at CrossFit Immense. Coaching is an on-going, daily experience at a crossfit box, it's all part of your membership fees. I've learned so much over the past two years about fitness, form, mobility and even diet.

The person who previously posted probably should get some counseling. If your interested in your daughter playing volleyball visit the club, talk to the coaches & make up your mind. I've visited & experienced many clubs none are perfect... this one is smaller than most and provides a great deal more individualized instruction and attention.

Beware!!! Trailsend 18-2 season, 2nd yr with coach Malia K…read more Background info: Our daughter played starting libero on 16-2 at nearby club team with a much better coach, Jaime S., who knew how to coax more out of her girls, more gently, never berating, yelling at them or calling individuals out during team discussions when they messed up. Malia K. in stark contrast, calls out girls all the time, even for things entirely out of their control, such as staying home while sick. She even makes assumptions based I can only presume, on the gossip of her favorite, who is by no means one of the better players although she occasionally tries hard to be, yet still seems to play more than most, and also gets much better treatment on and off the court from Malia. Now, if your daughter were one of her few favorites like this girl, Malia is always nicer, often jokes with, never becomes overbearing or mean. If you are one of those parents who doesn't stand up to bullies, and maybe you knew her when she was a star athlete, not the unhappy and dumpy loser she has become, maybe you and your daughter will do fine, even enjoy your time here, especially if you have encouraged her to bully others too. She hits harder at players she cares less for, softer at faves. Spends more time with the same few leaving girls standing around. Her attention/wasted time shows in competitions. She runs the same drill for hrs almost mindlessly. Her absence left our kid out of a service position, a costly error since of the few times she subbed in to serve, she rarely missed, even serving the most team points of any match she attended 10. That's a lot of potential your kid may entirely miss out on, if M becomes your coach. On rarer instances when she's focused or present, she works the girls so hard they have to stop/slow down to avoid vomiting! She's so mean we've seen girls crying at about 1/3 of practices we attended. When the team struggles, as regularly as Malia, she singles out one or two to yell and berate. In front of teams they just lost to! Surely there are other more effective ways to encourage kids. Especially for those who love their voice so much. Since Malia only does this to a few while ignoring others, it only increases bullying and distaste. And both yrs were the same failure to close. At last yrs best performance our daughter played more than any other day. M wasn't even there. Teams we played better last yr continue to improve while "teamM" struggle to flounder. After a non-regular guest, my disabled Mom-in-law, who's seen enough, called HER out in front of others, she shoved past her almost knocking her to the court to yell at our daughter for it! And although she saw, the gym was too loud to hear grandma or M yet later other 'witnesses' farther away than her agreed with M's lies about grandma's language! She rarely uses any, never in public. Finding no satisfaction with berating our kid she came at me to call me out for the violation. As if I did it. When I politely asked her to speak up she got mad and laughed at me. My mom in law was so shook up when she made it back, and having been hit in the face by balls before I stayed with her while my wife asked to step outside to talk. When I finally got out with mom I approached to keep peace or defend my wife from her, M wouldn't stop yelling, and began at me. I asked her to stop disrespecting my wife and let her talk-She told me to f"off! At that point, I began to match vol. and tried to cut her off so she could see how it felt. She began to taunt asking me to hit her! I again asked her less nicely than before I only want her to be respectful. As that's such an insurmountable challenge our 'talk' rapidly descended to curses as she retreated away and back into the building. That's the last time I hope for any of us to see this toxin. We were asked by her sis to return gear with half the season+ left because of a guest attempt to defend her grandkid, who never saw the rulebook, and because M's a compulsive liar. Considering Leilani is the director, no wonder whose side she'd take. We heard from many ppl she can be even worse than M and the 'apples don't fall far from the tree'..Lucky my mom in law didn't have a heart attack after her assault and yelling at her and grandkid. She had a severe panic attack, the worst I've seen. God was watching. A better coach would of let it roll off instead of escalating it like she did, remaining focused on the great team play, the best up to that point, but again our daughter also played the most she ever has for this lesser coach. A fave absence. I will conclude this warning by adding that a CEVA director has had similar complaints and said he'd keep his kids away, too. What a micro aggressor. If considering trying-out or heard any good about Trailsend VBC reconsider or remember, you've been warned!
