I own a medium - large construction company and rent from Sunbelt nationwide regularly but I've never had an such a horrible experience like I did yesterday at this location. This location needs some serious work. I purchased a piece of equipment from these guys through an auction which I paid before I attempted pick-up. This was not a cheap piece of equipment either. When I went to pick it up, they would not give me the keys because they said I had the wrong trailer. GVWR of the trailer was 10k lbs and the Skid-Steer I was picking up was 7.5k lbs. the guy I was dealing with told me that the trailer had weight to it itself and that the weight limit was too close and he wouldn't allow me to load it because he thought it would be unsafe. I told him that I felt it was safe, I had loaded F-250 trucks weighing more and it was just fine. He stared at me, started the Bobcat, drove off, and went inside without saying a word. This is where things started to go south... I couldn't believe I was being treated like that but fine, even though I felt the guy was wrong and he had a bad attitude, he was maybe border-line right. So I bit my tongue, drove two hours back to my shop just to pick-up a bigger trailer and headed back. This time same guy came back out. This time he had a form the he had hand written and wanted me to sign. I refused to sign it because the auction has their own item release form that I had already provided them. I even called the auction to ask them and they said "No, they do not need anything but the release form you already gave them". The guy now comes back out, clearly angry, throws the keys at me and says "Here". Again, I've always had a pleasant experience with Sunbelt but this was certainly the first occasion I had keys thrown at me. I load up the skid steer, start driving off, and as I look to my side I see this same guy and what looked like to be a mechanic standing at the glass waving at me. This clearly wasn't a "Thanks for your Business" wave but more of a smart-ass "F*** You". I was just amazed that this was the level of professionalism that was acceptable to Sunbelt, especially to a long-time account holding customer that just purchased and paid cash for a piece of their equipment. I'll be reaching out to corporate and regional management. read more
