Customer service is incredibly bad. They trick you to think you are getting a better deal with 4 sessions, but what they don't tell you is you can't cancel it for another two months. On top of that you cannot cancel the member online on the app. I tried to cancel my membership today and they would not let me because I needing to be charged for another 2 months. I will never be going back, except to cancel my membership in June. The staff is misleading and you can tell they are all in for profit, not for the satisfaction of their customers. Maybe try informing your customer's exactly what you are signing them up for. Seriously have never been so annoyed in my life, trying to cancel a membership that says "cancel anytime," yet you can't cancel it. I have tried to cancel it twice in the store and 3 times over the phone. Ridiculous. read more

The front desk lady was extremely rude and not helpful. The worst customer service I have ever received. Stopped helping me to help other people multiple times before she finally finished setting up my account and put other people in beds before me causing me to have to wait 30 minutes for an open bed. My friends also checked in with me and she talked to them as though they were incompetent and was very rude to them as well. read more

The RUDEST staff I have ever encountered. Absolutely ridiculous. I feel unwelcome everytime I walk in the door. A total money grab--scam after scam with the membership and random charges. I absolutely LOVE Sun Tan City! I've been a client for more than 6 months. I bought tanning lotion from them and my cap broke. Today I went in with that tanning lotion and Kendal (nice woman at the desk) noticed that I didn't have a cap and said- let me see if we have any spares in the back. I went to the bathroom and when I got to my tanning room, there was a new cap. She is what right looks like when it comes to customer service. read more

Wow, such a fantastic experience! I had never used a tanning bed before coming in and the employees were so helpful! I had no idea which bed to use or for how long and Marissa and Ellie were so kind and explained the whole process! They helped me pick the bed and lotion and didn't get frustrated with all of my questions. Literally the worst customer service I have ever received. No one knows what is going or what they are doing. The employees will stand around and look at you while people are waiting at the register. The beds are fine but the service ruins the entire place. The workers are too busy pushing products on you to clean beds or help customers. Would not recommend. read more

I absolutely love coming here. The girls are so friendly and nice and they've been very generous and understanding (since I'm relatively new to tanning). One of the girls at the desk even offered to share her personal new facial tanning lotion with me just so I could see if I liked it! The wait has never been bad, the student deal for monthly all-you-can-tan is an excellent value, and it seems like I have new free upgrades every single time I go in. I'm tanning to help with depression and the girls were actually even helpful in looking at what amount of tanning was going to help me--and they mentioned that they have a significant subset of depressed people who come in precisely for that reason. If you're interested in doing it for that reason then I even more highly recommend this place--they're so nice and helpful it really made asking about what I was doing or what I wanted/needed much easier. read more

Best tanning joint in Manhattan. Staff is professional & efficient, the facility is clean & has quality equipment. The staff is more than helpful, they took the time to explain the different options before I bought a package despite being swamped. A little pricey but you get what you pay for, it's not one of those things you skimp on. Plus little apple brewery is right next door so you can enjoy some delicious microbrews before getting your tan on (legality or healthiness is questionable). If only there was a Starbucks on the other side, it'd be unstoppable. read more

i've never posted a yelp review, but i felt the need to warn people who are not looking to spend a lot of money and who only want to tan for a month or two to NOT GO HERE. the most frustrating and deceitful customer service i have ever received. i went in looking to just purchase a one month tanning package in April so i could get a decent base tan before summer started. i was told by the worker that i could cancel easily after one month of tanning. the tanning packages are insanely complicated and expensive. all the workers try to persuade you into buying the most expensive packages and an $80 lotion on top of it. as a college student, i literally did not have the money for the majority of things that they pressured me to buy every single time i went in here. it is embarrassing and frustrating that once you say "no thank you" they still try to pressure you to buy more stuff every single time you come into tan. not to mention, i could NOT cancel my membership after one month. because i got my tanning package in the middle of April, i paid for an entire month of tanning for half of April and was immediately charged for a second month on May 1st. i went into the store extremely upset because i did not need to tan anymore, i didn't have $30 to waste, and i was told the first time i went in that i could cancel after 30 days. apparently the policy is that you go by calendar months instead of 30 days and you have to have a package for at least an entire calendar month. this clause was in the paperwork i signed, but it was not communicated to me by the staff. and i know i'm not the only person who doesn't read paperwork word-for-word. i expected the workers to be honest-- my mistake. so i was not able to cancel my package until june 1st. i spent $70 to tan for only a month and a half and compared to other places i've tanned, this is a ridiculous price. as i said before, if your budget is big and you don't mind buying the expensive lotions that they push-- then you won't have any problems. but if you're on a budget, want to use lotion under $50, and want a month or two of tanning for a decent price DO NOT GO HERE. read more

The tans tend to turn out nice but the promotions and deals are unfairly deceiving. Although it says free sprays online they have stopped doing that and will also force you to buy additional products if you want to spray for free. And if you have to pay the (more expensive than other salons) 40+ dollar spray you are still coerced into purchasing a $10+ primer and or extender. Additionally, the staff could afford to be friendlier and more understanding of first timers. It's not a life or death situation and they really need to relax. Enjoyed the tan, not the way my friend and I were treated. read more

Awesome place! The girls are pretty friendly and the place is always spotless! The only downside is sometimes the wait is 30-45 minutes depending on time of day and what bed you choose. It's worth the time for the prices though! read more

The tanning salon is definitely clean and good quality, however the service was extremely unreliable. I had bought a package through them and about a month later became pregnant and made a move to a new city. I tried to reach them for 4 months, calling them multiple times and leaving a voicemail each time. Hoping to cancel my account due to the situation of harm, which is stated in the agreement as available. I was finally able to reach them after 4 months and they would only cancel my account and not refund me any of the money, even though I had left several voicemails each week to talk with them and never recieved a call back. My bad experience turns me away from tanning salon packages all together but be careful when joining Sun Tan City in Manhattan. read more
