I asked Jeff for his honest opinion and he gave it and also put some creative ideas in my head on how to frame the pictures! We were so pleased with his work we are planning on coming back. My wife came across them on Yelp! and we hired them to do the photo and video shoot for my parents' 50th Golden Wedding Anniversary. Mind you, we hired them less than a month before the actual event. David and Jerome took the time to do a phone call with us and walk through the entire itinerary of the day from the ceremony at Mission San Diego through the entire reception at the Gaylord Pacific. I really enjoyed working with all of them. They were so kind, warm, and detail oriented. I can't say enough about Fate Studios and how they made this event a truly memorable event! I also pitched an idea to Jerome about doing an AI video of my parents, describing their love story and how they met 50 years ago in the Philippines. Jerome has years of experience as a filmmaker in the Philippines and has worked for one of their large TV networks there, so he's a pro. I was nervous that we wouldn't have enough time to take this video from start to finish, but Jerome assured me that he could deliver. We presented the surprise AI video to my parents after we showed their slide show and the crowd was truly mesmerized! Many of our guests told me that the AI video was an awesome concept. But let me say that David, Jerome, and their team were awesome! I feel as though I gained some friends for life. The second I met them in person it felt like I had known them for a long time. They also knew how to get my parents to take pictures. You know, once you get older the excitement for these kinds of things is not the same as when you first got married :). Over the more than 9 years that we've worked together, I have worked for companies large and small. When I need to do any type of photoshoot that involves location/talent scouting and production services, I go to Rick's San Diego Productions. Look at it this way--you and/or your team could try to do what Rick's team does on your own. That would involve finding a location, knowing all of the laws, permits required, advantages, and disadvantages of each location. Then, you would need to do the work of vetting photographers and videographers. Put out a call for them. review portfolios, and then interview each one. Need talented actors and models? That's another vetting process that takes tons of time. What about wardrobe, set design, hair, and make-up? San Diego Productions can do all of these things, which frees us up to do what we do best--focus on the creative. His decades of experience and multiple connections allow him to assess your needs and match you up with the best solutions for your given project. We paid a hefty $1,300 deposit and were so excited to work with her. Her style fit ours perfectly and she came recommended by our good friends who used her for their wedding. Earlier this year, I lost my job and had to take a massive pay cut, due to that we changed our wedding venue to a much more affordable location in the Northern California area. We explained this to Berlynn and expressed how much we still wanted to work with her despite the change in location. We even sent her a very detailed email showing her that the change in location wouldn't add too much additional travel time. Instead of trying to work with us by requesting an additional travel fee or something along those lines, she decided to flat out cancel working with us and refused to give us back our deposit. So now we lost $1,300 and had to find a new photographer. Edit to add: based on my calculations, the new location would have taken roughly the same amount of time to get to with a small addition of maybe 30 minutes. Also, flights are more accessible to the new location. A new contract could have been discussed but it wasn't. You chose to cancel on us without even discussing what a new contract would entail. Very unprofessional.

From the beginning, Joel and Darsha were communicative, super well-organized, and basically amazing!! My husband and I first did an adventure session with them to take engagement photos at glamis dunes and Darsha and Joel brought a picnic set up, ran with us, played with us, and stayed late to grab the best lighting. Then COVID hit and we had to change our plans 100x and aldous photo was with us every step of the way re-organizing and helping plan with us. Literally, they acted as mini wedding planners while also being our soundboard on how to elope during a pandemic!! The day of our elopement, Darsha and Joel had picked the most unique and fun places to take pre-wedding photos, and they were so ready to take on every lighting and environment scenario possible. We did pre-elopement photos, then went to the courthouse, and then did a sunset boat ride on the Triton. Most importantly, the end result - our wedding photos and videos - are ABSOLUTELY brilliant and encapsulate so much of who my husband and I are. The photos are gorgeous and clean AND our wedding video is so much fun - it isn't your typical shoot and point video, but instead Darsha and Joel cut in clips from our engagement session, added in so many artistic clips, and put together a video that really represented the spirt of the day and the excitement we experienced afterwards. These two are absolutely EPIC and the best decision you can make is to hire both of them for photos and video! We loved them so much that we have hired them for our post-elopement reception late 2021 so long as it is safe to do so with Covid!
