Sun Restaurant has always been a Chinese Food go to for my family. I can't tell you how many times I have ordered food from here. The gizzard and livers are the number one thing we come here for. They are always hot, fresh, and crunchy. The portion sizes are plentiful. The duck and noodles are delicious. The duck is tender, and flavourful, the noodles are soft and the broth is seasoned well. The only thing I do once I get home to enjoy is add some red pepper for some added spice. The parking lot is small and can get pretty congested if they are busy. They have a drive through, but that makes the parking lot even more congested due to customers waiting on their food to get done. The inside is always clean and there is ample seating if you want to enjoy your food inside. read more

When visiting St Louis, you need to experience the Chinese food since they have the best Chinese food hands down! Sun's is small Chinese food spot that has a drive through for convenience, but beware it is ALWAYS packed! That is a testament to how good the food is! I got the fried liver combination plate, which came to 2 crab rangoons and ham fried rice. The food was so fresh and delicious! It was also enough for 2 people to eat. The establishment is tiny but has a few tables to eat at inside. Most people just take their food to go and use the tables to sit at while waiting for their food. read more

This Chinese place is good, it's mostly known for fried gizzards & fried chicken livers. The breading on them is very seasoned , alittle spice. I work 25 minutes from Suns but after 10 years of not eating the fried gizzards I couldn't get them off my mind. 1/2 order gizzards & combination plate hot braised boneless chicken. I ate the gizzards as I was driving back to work. As far as the actual chibese combos Ive only had hot braised. The sauce is real good, lots of it. Chicken was tender. Too much breading tho. Rice is good I like that they put egg & onions in it. It doesn't hurt to check them out with your particular go to dish if you're in the area. Service was friendly. read more

This place is barely noticeable as you're driving past. The building is run down and kind of blends into the background, except that their parking lot is always FULL. Absolutely a good sign. When you walk in, the inside is as unremarkable as the exterior and you get a vague feeling that you probably don't want to know what the kitchen looks like, because the food is good and you don't want to ruin it for yourself. The hot braised chicken was good, but there is a LOT of beading on the chicken. There's also a little bit of inconsistency with the chicken. Some pieces were moist and fresh tasting and others were dried out and tasted a little old. The tasty sauce kind of makes up for that. The chicken was an afterthought after I arrived, because I was really wanting the fried rice and crab Rangoon. The rice is cooked dark, with plenty of egg, onion and ham. And it tastes so good. The kind of flavor you only get from an older wok that never gets thoroughly washed so it retains tons of flavors from everything that gets cooked in it. Sounds gross, but it really does make a difference. The crab Rangoon are excellent. They're not to sweet and they are seasoned very well with spices, green onion and plenty of crab. If you're looking for a good box of fried rice and crab Rangoon, this is a great spot to try. read more

Definitely gonna miss this place. Only place I went to for gizzards, iykyk!!! Hopefully they open a new restaurant

Best fast food Chinese spot in town. A Saint Louis staple. I hope everyone enjoys. Try the gizzards or livers. Yummy

Hope they come back! They have amazing food. I hope they are all well. The service was always good and friendly

There food is amazing. I love the gizzards they are very good. I would recommend them

This was a good place for many years. A few things have changed recently when ordering dishes containing duck, they now use the skin of the duck in place of some of the meat. These past were all meat dishes. I've gotten undercooked cooked poultry. The staff is more rude to the customers now than ever in the past. I'm done with this place. read more

Friendly service and great tasting food! Everything that I have tried was delicious including the chicken gizzards. I love the crispy outside and tender inside as well as the unique seasoning read more

Never again. My husband likes this place, but I like a different spot. He didn't feel like going to two different places, so I got egg drop soup and pot stickers because I am not a fan of my normal dishes that i get elsewhere from this place. Anyway, the soup had drops of fat in it like parts of it had solidified. The main show of potstickers were horrible. They were hard, heavy and a really thick in consistency. If I were to drop them on the ground, they would make a nice thump, I'm sure. I ate the filling and threw the thick shell away. Horrible. I told hubby that if he goes back to not even ask me if I want anything. read more

I ordered the shrimp and chicken Saint Paul with no onions and no bean sprouts. I was very disappointed when I received the order due to the sandwich having little to no shrimp. The sandwich was filled with big chunks of chicken that were white and some were gray which was a concern, I've never seen a gray chicken. I called the restaurant to let them know that perhaps I had the wrong sandwich due to me not seeing any shrimp in the sandwich. The restaurant informed me that they only put two shrimp in the sandwich any additional shrimp would be extra. It was very difficult to understand the lady speaking, and at times, was talking to someone in the background speaking in another language. The issue did not give resolved . I ended up telling her I would not be back again. read more

I love their ham fried rice. Seasoned well, large chunks of ham and not dry or greasy. The only downside in my opinion is, they are a little pricey for a neighborhood Chinese restaurant. Also, many chinese restaurants taxes are included in the price but here, they are added afterward. I got a half order of fried rice with bean sprouts and extra onion and it was $8.00. That to me is highway robbery. read more

GO FOR THE CHICKEN GIZZARDS, IT IS SO WORTH IT. And I tried it with the Hot Mustard sauce mixed in Sweet and Sour sauce (sounds weird, but it's my new favorite). The chicken gizzards come with onions that I didn't think would be good raw, but this place changed my mind! The staff is always busy, but super helpful. Know what you want, so you can get your food quick! The prices are cheap for the amount they give you! Everything tastes fresh and it's always made to order. Found out that they sell ducks for the holidays (Thanksgiving/Christmas) and there's always an extensive list of people who order every year. Definitely going to give it a try! read more

The food is real good, service is good but parking are bad I told my fried about them they go and buy food from them.

Old location & still the best livers I've ever eaten. Not best in StL. Not best Chinese. Not even best fried. I MEAN THE BEST FRIED CHICKEN LIVERS, PERIOD. All of the other food is nearly as good, but those livers!!! Try the war su gi & boneless hot braised chicken dishes. Both are stellar. The duck is good. And the simple little fried crab sticks are surprisingly . Go! Go! Go get you some today! Go! read more

I've been getting food at Sun for 30 years and it's the best. The egg foo yung is to die for. It hurts my feelings to see the negative reviews here. This is not my typical go to restaurant for Chinese food. But my husband wanted duck and noodles so he placed an order. We also ordered a St.Paul sandwich and fried chicken gizzards because they had good reviews. My husband said his food was decent. The St. Paul sandwich we requested WELL done and it was not. The fried chicken gizzards were tough! I literally could not chew them. I think we will just stick with them for the Peking Duck we order at Christmas time. read more

The food would have been okay the the oil it was cooked in had been fresher. It tasted like old grease so it was not enjoyable. I bought fried giblets and fried rice. I sat in line for a long time because the person I. The vehicle in front of me appeared to be asleep. The building is positioned that I was just around the corner so couldn't see there was no one in front of them. We all just waiting. Wish someone would have came out and woke the customer up. They were near the window. What a waste of time plus I didn't enjoy the food. read more

Have been eating here since I was 15 and I'm 47 now. They have always stayed consistent with their taste. They do have a drive thru, and it is best to call your order in. The fried gizzards and egg rolls are my favorites from there, but anything you get will be worth it read more

It's not the cleanest, it's not the safest (parking lot is a death trap), but I don't want anyone else Chinese food. Their chicken gizzards are amazing (it's the seasoned onions in the box). Delicious food served with a smile. Great for those times when you crave Chinese food. The Gizzards are top notch as well.

June 2021. First time here. We really hoped it would be good because we live so close. When we pulled in the parking lot it was almost full of cars at 1 pm on a Monday. Good sign. We used the drive-thru. It took about 15 minutes to get to the window. We were 3rd in line. The menu prices for combination plates average $8 to $9. The egg roll tasted old. Did not finish it. The Kung pao chicken was spicy and steamy hot. The flavor was ok. It was the best of the 3 plates we ordered. The General Tso's chicken was not even warm and the chicken was hard like it was leftover from the day before. Didn't eat anymore after the first bite. The Mongolian beef was bland and only warm. The crab Rangoon was good sized with enough filling but the flavor was bland. The fried rice was plentiful and ok, no complaints. read more

Food: 4 Stars Service: 4 Stars I can't tell you how many times I've been here... Probably more than I'm willing to admit. haha Sun offers a delicious meal and quick friendly service which keeps me coming back for more. Their interior isn't anything fancy or modern, but does what it needs to- feed people. I hope that one day they decide to update their restaurant to accommodate those who would like to dine in more frequently. I'm not adventurous enough to try their gizzards, although I've heard several customers sing about them. My favorite has got to be, hands down, their kungpao chicken (I always ask for it extra spicy!). I'm there often enough that as soon as they see me, they know what to order for me. :] read more

The food was ok! It wasn't that flavorful but they cooked it quickly and it was exactly what I ordered. I don't think I will return

I had no idea what to think, Chinese food from a drive thru? it can't be that good, right? I am not a huge fan of Chinese food anyway, but on a scale of the few Chinese places I have been, I would give it a 8.5. It comes highly recommended and Chinese food usually messes with me shortly after I eat AND I didn't get hungry ten minutes later either. LOL they must have a special kind of oil and msg that the other ones don't have. I was rushed on my food choice and ended up getting special fried rice, I have heard the sandwiches are really good, they looked super greasy, but I am interested to try other things on the menu. The place itself, was not dirty, but very, very old... read more

I now work in a land of Chinese takeout-a-plenty. They all suck compared to this place. Even Panda Express, which is surprisingly hard to convince coworkers to drive to. I don't want to hear people complaining about the lack of dining options in NOCO when they have arguably the best Chinese Takeout and wings spot in the area. So grab yourself a copy of The Whirl, get a half order of special fried rice with some type of wings: bum bum chicken (glazed chicken wings), fried chicken wings, or duck wings. If you haven't figured it out, yet, this is THE place to get gizzards too. One thing you probably wouldn't even think to get there: their shrimp dishes. Their shrimp with broccoli is quite delicious and is absurdly cheap compared to any other place in the area. I should ask if they could fry me up some shrimp... read more

I've been here once now for lunch. It's a small dining room but can accommodate its crowd. The lunch specials are a good value. I spent maybe $5-6 on my combo and got so much food, I could only eat half. You order at the counter, sit down, wait to be called, and pay when it's ready. read more

This is probably the best fast food chinese you can get in St. Louis. I have tried a lot of places and this place has everything I can ask for in take out. I was there one day and another customer told me they drive in all the time from the city just to get the gizzards. They told me somedays you have to come in early because they can run out. Apparently the gizzards are marinated in they own batter and special spices overnight and if they run out there not more till the next day. I know gizzards aren't for everybody, but wow these were crunchy, spicy, just awesome. If you are not as adventurous, I suggest ordering the "Bum Bum Chicken". I have never seen these anywhere else, so I am pretty sure you can only get them here. They're these sweet, and savory chicken wings, that to me are like a combination of teriyaki, soy sauce, and honey flavours. It hard to describe but they are just yummy. read more
