Reviewing the larger community center located on Hampton Road. I went to check the place out for a relative who's interested in moving to Sun City Anthem. It's a fine facility with all the bells & whistles! The restaurant/cafe wasn't open & staff said it hadn't been open the past few days. This place has a great expansive view of the Valley and an upscale feel. There are signs along the main corridor for the rooms that hold different activities such as cards and woodworking. Plenty of different options for all kinds of interests. The pool is very nice too and it's a pretty busy center! I heard that Sun City Anthem was voted best 55 plus community in the nation at least once.

Cute, looks just like a hotel lobby with card and pool games instead of slots

My daughter suggested that we investigate independent living communities as a solution to my loneliness. After having viewed three other senior communities, I knew as soon as we walked into Revel that this would be my home. It was bright, welcoming and energetic. We were provided a tour of the building, an explanation of the provisions and a free lunch! As a retiree on a fixed income, I happily learned that the cost to live at Revel with all its amenities was less than I was paying living alone. Transportation, twice-weekly happy hours, games, activities, daily special meals, planned outings, holiday and birthday celebrations, karaoke evenings and weekly apartment cleaning are included. Additionally, the maintenance staff is responsive and timely when a resident has a need or request as are the administrative and culinary staffs. The most gratifying and ongoing advantage of my living at Revel Nevada is having friendships with residents. Thank you, Revel.

They didn't give me time to look for another place and asked me to pay double the cost of care. I've asked them several times to explain what services will be getting, but they haven't done it for days and they haven't shared any data of my family and physician's report either. They don't even know who the current doctor is, and they don't update the legal documents I provided properly. It's a mess. Most of the staff here are friendly, but it seems like they don't communicate with the directors who are a mess. Also, the security was really bad. One day I found out that they had not been paying attention to the visitor records for a while. When I asked to see the visitor records on the check-in computer, they said that no one knew how to find the records on the computer. It took over a month for it to be available, which meant that they let strangers come see my family and that they didn't care if there was danger or something bad going on. The computer at the front desk was just a decoration to advertise that they have 24 hour security. I strongly advise against leaving your loved one in such a facility.

I happened to be here on Christmas Eve and the General manager, Dawn stood out to me because she was helping out with taking orders and busting tables. I have been to so many retirement homes and assisted living homes and I never see the managers or directors helping in the kitchen, especially not on Christmas. Dawn put a net over her hair and go to work. She spoke to everyone and had such a pleasant attitude. I think she is an amazing example of a leader. More establishments need to take note! Next, Olly! Always pleasant. Always telling everyone what activities is going on or what is coming up next. Also always takes the time to speak to me and everyone passing by. Olly enjoys the job and has passion for this field, I can tell! Always smiling and cheerful, even if there's a lot to do and plan! Next, Cheryl! As soon as I walk in she is at the front desk, smiling, happy, and handling whatever tasks she faced with. I speak to Cheryl for just a few minutes when I leave and exit but she truly makes you feel like you have known her for so long! She is the perfect person to have at the front desk. Lastly, Elizabeth, the lead server! So amazing, positive, quick with service. I see why she is the lead. She comes to work with a smile on her face and makes you feel very welcomed. She knows her residents, she knows what they typically order and ensures everything is good before you leave that dining room. These employees truly stand out and as stated, I have been to so many retirement homes and I haven't ever come across a place that had great employees across the board. In addition to the employees being great, it's clean here, well kept, lots of activities going on. I'd recommend this place to anyone in search of place for their loved one.

I believe this difference comes from the top and circulates through people who care for the folks living there. If I were to be looking for residency in this kind of community, Merrill Gardens would be on my very very short list.

After 3 years of rapidly progressing Alzheimer's disease and clinging to every thread of her…read moreindependence, it was finally agreed that my mother may indeed be ready for assisted living. After extensive research, we found the "perfect" place. At The Palms at Siena on Horizon Ridge, we were courted by all the fluff and service of a retirement resort. They assured me that the new addition of the "transition" unit was the ideal answer. For my mom. They readily agreed to accept her 17 lb rescue dog, without whom she would not want to live. No problem..... They also lured us into a 2 bedroom apartment, noting that she might get a roommate much later down the line. Exactly 8 days later, I received a phone call notifying me that she had to move her furniture over to one side of the space. They were going to build a pony wall and that the dog was a problem. According to the contract I signed, "The resident has the right to be informed in writing, of any changes at least 30 days before the change. The resident also has the right to live in an environment that promotes and supports each resident's dignity, independence, self-determination, privacy and choice. The resident has the right to be treated with consideration and respect." REALLY??????? How much respect and dignity is the resident receiving by being made to circum to yet another huge life change, before she has even had a chance to adapt to her new surroundings. PS, to rent an apartment or house anywhere that accepts pets, the tenant is required to at least show a photo of the pet. The Palms was in such a hurry to close the deal and have the contract and money upfront, they completely neglected to do their job properly. Within the week we moved her out and had to subject her to yet another change. Shame on The Palms at Siena and their mission statement! "Our mission is to RESPECT and GENUINELY CARE for each of our residents in such a way that allows them to SAFELY maintain appropriate control, choice and independence and enjoy the uniqueness of their lives

It is smaller compared to the actual assisted living area, but there seems to be less patients in that part of the facility. Every nurse and cna I encountered while visiting my grandpa was friendly, extremely helpful and had a positive attitude when we asked about him. He has short term memory loss (possible onset dementia) so he doesn't remember what he did throughout the day (or any day before then). But.. I'm happy he's in a place that takes care of him and lets his family know what's going on when we ask for updates and I was able to see this first hand and view the area he's staying in. I will say the inside is a bit out dated, could use a re-vamp esp the rooms. His bathroom had a leaky faucet and the toilet wouldn't stop running. Also the door to get into his room sticks, which makes it hard to open and close. And to get into the memory care side you need to ring the doorbell to be let in. Also plenty of parking up front for visitation of loved ones.

It is basically a cruise ship in a building. They have had to scale back some of the social activities post-COVID, but that is to be expected. The activities director, Kelsey, is amazing. She has been there the entire time and does some super fun activities with the residents. We were able to help out and join in the fun a few times. They have had quite a bit of turnover with staff in the last few years. Some of the new med techs and support staff are learning their positions, but they still do a nice job. They have different levels of care they provide their residents that determine how much the monthly "rent" is. The less assistance you need, the lower the cost. They also have a secure memory care unit for those with advanced memory issues. Overall, we are glad that our family member is there receiving the care they need while being able to feel a sense of independence at this point in their life.
