The owner, Allyn, was so easy to get along with and really sensitive to how everyone was feeling and dealing with various stages of my Grandma's care. My Grandma was happy there and of course had her favorite helpers. I would highly recommend Hillside Manor to take care of loved ones. My daughter suggested that we investigate independent living communities as a solution to my loneliness. After having viewed three other senior communities, I knew as soon as we walked into Revel that this would be my home. It was bright, welcoming and energetic. We were provided a tour of the building, an explanation of the provisions and a free lunch! As a retiree on a fixed income, I happily learned that the cost to live at Revel with all its amenities was less than I was paying living alone. Transportation, twice-weekly happy hours, games, activities, daily special meals, planned outings, holiday and birthday celebrations, karaoke evenings and weekly apartment cleaning are included. Additionally, the maintenance staff is responsive and timely when a resident has a need or request as are the administrative and culinary staffs. However, they were and still are short staffed with wait times after pressing call button of sometimes one hour. The quality of the food leaves much to be desired. So I wound up buying my own groceries and often times making my own lunch and dinner. The weight staff in the dining room does the best they can, however, in my opinion, with the exception of the head cook, the cooks don't know what they are doing. Often times you will wait one hour after ordering your food to get it, and then more often it is ice cold. Add it to that, it often tastes disgusting. There are residents here, but that belong in memory care or in a nursing home. There are residents here that are a danger to the other residents and even though we report them to the powers that be, nothing is done. I am happy to be saying I'm moving out of this place because I can and also because the price is way too high for the services that I use. Carefully research the place you are looking for to live in for yourself or a loved one. Walk in at different times of the day. Try to experience the food and the dining experience for yourself more than just once. Talk to the residents and ask a lot of questions. I would not recommend living here. And I hope and never come back to an facility, but if I do, it will not be this one.

I speak to Cheryl for just a few minutes when I leave and exit but she truly makes you feel like you have known her for so long! She is the perfect person to have at the front desk. He has short term memory loss (possible onset dementia) so he doesn't remember what he did throughout the day (or any day before then). But.. I'm happy he's in a place that takes care of him and lets his family know what's going on when we ask for updates and I was able to see this first hand and view the area he's staying in. I will say the inside is a bit out dated, could use a re-vamp esp the rooms. His bathroom had a leaky faucet and the toilet wouldn't stop running. Also the door to get into his room sticks, which makes it hard to open and close. And to get into the memory care side you need to ring the doorbell to be let in. Also plenty of parking up front for visitation of loved ones.

It is basically a cruise ship in a building. They have had to scale back some of the social activities post-COVID, but that is to be expected. The activities director, Kelsey, is amazing. She has been there the entire time and does some super fun activities with the residents. We were able to help out and join in the fun a few times. They have had quite a bit of turnover with staff in the last few years. Some of the new med techs and support staff are learning their positions, but they still do a nice job. They have different levels of care they provide their residents that determine how much the monthly "rent" is. The less assistance you need, the lower the cost. They also have a secure memory care unit for those with advanced memory issues. Overall, we are glad that our family member is there receiving the care they need while being able to feel a sense of independence at this point in their life.
