The reason I ultimately chose EDA is due to the following facts: * I like the school location and their classrooms. The school is inside a shopping center, making it very convenient for parking, drop off/pick up kids. The classrooms are spacious and bright, providing a comfortable atmosphere. * Teacher Wang, Teacher Ye, and Teacher Yang all have extensive dance qualifications. They are very hands-on in class, and you can see that they have a deep love for dance. They can subtly embody the essence of dance in every move and every smile. They also pass on their love for dance to every child in class, guiding each movement and patiently correcting any mistakes. * My intention is simple: I want my own children to find joy in the process of learning dance, shape their physique, continuously improve their skills in their chosen hobby, and not easily give up. Learning Chinese dance involves mastering the basics and showcasing the characteristics of it. I highly recommend Eva Dance Academy!

EDA as a dance institution is something quite uniquely special. They boast a stellar curriculum that offers Chinese classical dance, folk dances, ballet, acro/tumbling, and all the programs have emphasis on both artistic development as well as technique. This is an environment that builds character by teaching students of all ages to appreciate the beauty of dance/art, to appreciate/respect fellow students and dance etiquette, and to appreciate the light and artistry that may lie dormant within themselves. From what I have seen of the youth programs, the faculty invests an incredible amount of time for all youth age levels. They absolutely do not partake in the practice of focusing all their attention on the comp program and ignoring students in the rec classes. EDA also has a notable strong adult program; every adult student I've met over the past year has been very dedicated to the Academy and to helping each other. The founder and director, Eva Wang, leads by example as I've witnessed EDA's culture to be one that encourages you to not rest on the laurels of your last show or trophy, but rather she promotes hard work and humility, as well as a balanced school-extracurriculars life, or balanced work-family life. I've had the privilege of being part of their adult program for the past year and some change, having a great time and really just living out my best TVB costume drama -childhood dreams. Instruction is given in mostly Mandarin and some English, and I as a non-native speaker have inadvertently scored many hours of free language immersion (boy was my first month+ confusing and gloriously fun). EDA doesn't teach dance only as exercise, but as art. Come for the enrichment and stay for the lovely community!

We originally signed up for ballet and tap lessons for my daughter, but we've since expanded to competition jazz--and we're hoping to add hip hop next year. The studio has such an amazing sense of community. From the other parents to the teachers, everyone is incredibly supportive and welcoming, especially for new parents like me. Miss Samantha, the owner and teacher, is truly wonderful. She's so patient and kind with all the kids, including my daughter, and you can tell she really cares about their growth and happiness. If you're even a little curious, there's a free dance day/class on February 1, 2025 where your child can try it out. It's a great chance to see how fun and inclusive this studio is.

Being new in the dance world, I liked that she had exposure to both types of dance (ballet and tap). It really helped us figure out which type of dance she wanted to stick with in the future. My girl was also able to participate in her first ever recital this past summer. She was nervous but the studio is such a warm & kind environment that everything went perfectly. She also had so much fun dancing on stage! The teachers, older dancers and parent volunteers are all so caring and amazing with the kids. Overall, a great experience.

In that email, they had old covid protocols from 2020. They really need to update their "welcome" information for parents. - The class is for ages 5-12 and they keep the kids together. The problem with this is that 5 year olds do not have the attention span or understanding as the older kids. To have them all together and essentially "punish" the older kids to hold a "stretch" position until the younger kids are able to catch up is not right. They need to split kids up by age groups and create a more positive learning experience. - Coach Sam is not someone who exhibits a positive cheer attitude. Both my child and my friend's child came back home talking about how mean she was. These camps are intended to be fun, she did not make it fun or treat the kids with respect. In the time when I was there, I also observed her lack of kindness. - Sign in and sign out process is a joke, they do not even check when you pick up your children. This is not safe, they should check when each child is picked up by an appropriate guardian especially if it's a camp setup like this. - Several children were new to cheer/tumlbing and needed help with the basics such as how to do a cartwheel, the "teachers" did not provide any help. They just told the kids to keep trying and to not interrupt them when they are working with other kids. How is a child supposed get help? The overall lack of actual teaching was really disappointing.

We not new to extra curriculum programs, but look out for your bank account and know what you signing up for financially and literally if you send your child here.
