I had a negative experience with an employee at SUN & SHADE AWNING LLC SouthWest (SW) Michigan a few years ago, when I purchased my product, and then had the installation. Luckily, Mark, the owner at the time, made it as right as he could, and took responsibility for the mistake and the poor behavior of the employee. However, that employee Craig, has since bought, and now runs the company. One of my remote controls isn't working. I thought there was something wrong with the batteries and I couldn't figure out how to open the remote so I reached out to the owner and he told me about unscrewing the tiny screws in the back. Before I was able to ask where I could get these specialty batteries, he claimed to have customers who haven't had to change the batteries for 20 years. Since I have a 10 year warranty I asked if they could send me a new remote control; he claimed that the remote controls weren't included in the warranty. Throughout this phone call the owner of SUN & SHADE AWNING LLC SouthWest (SW) Michigan was extremely argumentative and even accused me of having an attitude problem, when I was just trying to figure out how to rectify the problem of the broken remote control. Then he hung up on me and wouldn't respond to my messages. Fortunately I was able to find the company that distributes the remote controls and order one directly through them; they were helpful and easy to work with. Unfortunately, the remote is quite pricey so it's a bummer that not even three years down the road, I had to order and pay for a new remote. I wish I'd never purchased this custom item from SUN & SHADE AWNING LLC SouthWest (SW) Michigan because when things go wrong, I have no choice but to interact with their belligerent owner. I have been bringing my boat cover bussiness to Mark for close to 25yrs and he and his crew have always been great for on time and quality. Today I brought him my boat so he could modify the new mooring cover he made for me last year due to changes I made on the boat this year.
