All salads come in medium or large (or can be turned into a wrap); the large is actually ginormous so definitely opt for the medium. There are a bunch of suggestions on the board, or you can make your own using the salads checklist by the front counter. I'm a fan of the Signature Salad (lettuce, steamed chicken breast, sweet potato, eggplant, sultanas, sliced almonds, and peas) and the Smoked Salmon (lettuce, tomato, boiled egg, fetta, olives, sunflower seeds and capers). There are also a few different kinds of yoghurt and fresh fruit salads available for a healthy dessert. This place sure beats most of the other city lunch offerings.

I often find myself food browsing, wanting to buy something 'for later', like one of their spelt muffins or a packet of coconut flour to bake with. Raw 'confections' always seduce me, too. 5 stars for The Big O.

There are lots of vegan and vegetarian options which is also great! At the front of the store you'll notice healthy treats and take away goodies! A little pricey $27 for a juice and lunch (one person), still you expect this in Surry hills and I certainly don't mind paying for quality!

Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? Haven has a great nautical vibe and an open air shop that's casual, comfortable, and maybe surprisingly would be a great place to get some work done. The service is top notch, and my coffee and sandwich came out quickly. Star. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? $6.00 AUD for a pressed ham and cheese croissant sandwich is an absolute steal, and $4.00 AUD for Haven's flagship Milk Coffee was equally cheap. Great value. Star. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? Everything here at Haven was good. The Milk Coffee didn't particularly stand out to be honest given it was pitched as a flagship menu item, bu the pressed croissant sandwich was something I hadn't had before and was great as far as breakfast sandwiches go. Sandwiches, sandwiches, SANDWICHES!!!…read more Like Joey from Friends, I love me some sandwiches. I believe this place opened less than a month ago, and I noticed it when I went to Single Origin one day and made a note to check it out. As its namesake states, this place is a simple sandwich shop. The interior is cozy, the people friendly, and the music sets the mood. Me gusta. The place is clean, straight to the point with natural and fresh ingredients, affordable (under $10!) and tasty to boot. They don't do sides except for the bread they serve during breakfast, and they also have salads if you don't want to have a sandwich. Let's be real here though, why would you go to The Sandwich Shop and not order a sandwich? Depending on the sandwich, you get to choose what kind of bread you'd like as well between rye, sourdough, and whole wheat. The sandwiches on tap are: Chicken Schnitzel The Sandwich Club Rare Roast Beef Tuna + White Bean Smoked Salmon Bagel The Original New York Reuben Pulled Pork The Ultimate Salad Sandwich You can also create your own sambo if you like. My friend and I ordered the Rare Roast Beef and The Original New York Reuben. If you like cheese, you will like the Rare Roast Beef. The Fontina Cheese used to top this was massive and flavourful. The roast beef could have been a bit more rare for my taste but it was still very good nonetheless. The Reuben...the reuben was great. I wouldn't call it the Original New York Reuben but that's not a bad thing. The Reuben served here was very high quality, as the beef is a thicker and juicier slice than you'd get with a New York Reuben. The cheese, sauerkraut and dressing were great as well. Definitely the best "Reuben" I've had in Sydney so far. If you like sandwiches you can't go wrong here. I'll have to come back to try the others.

I ordered a large tuna salad. it was good value at under 10 bucks but I found it slightly boring. This probably had something to do with the fact that it had no hard boiled egg thrown in. This is normally a crucial ingredient and I only learned of it not being available well after I had placed my order when one of the assistants told another customer that they were out of egg. I should have revised my order at that point, but it should never have gotten to that. The salad arrived and there was no problem with the size. It was a generous portion, but without much dressing, egg or any other exciting ingredients it really wasn't anything special.
