Sumo Ramen Bar took me by surprise! I love ramen for the broth and ingredients, but at Sumo Ramen Bar the noodles were so so delicious which is not common in ramen places. The brothless yakisoba was the perfect amount of spice. The broth of the Sumo Wrestler was to die for! Make sure to try all the sauces on the table. The citrus sauce will balance the spiciness of the Yuzu Spicy Ramen. The chicken that comes with the Yuzu Spicy Ramen is a bit bland but is perfect to be paired with the sauces on the table. The decoration is very nice, and the space is well kept. It is a casual restaurant with nice, clean touches. We were constantly checked up on by multiple servers. My family and I loved this spot! The ambience is cozy with lots of cool art. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed all of our food and took plenty home too! The steamed dumplings were awesome. Our little one likes them plain, the wife and I loved ours with the garlic crisp chili oil and the lemony sauce in the middle. Definitely the way you should try them! The other little pan fried pot stickers were good as well, but definitely needed to be fried a little more in my opinion. The sweet sauce on top was also not my favorite. Still good though. Wife had the garlic ramen that came with 5 more of those steamed dumplings! Mild broth, but still very tasty. Loved the broccolini that they added to that. I myself, order the sumo rice. It was delightful! I enjoyed that one very much and did not think it was mushy like other reviewers have said. The flavors were great and I didn't mix in the sauce that comes in the middle which name we didn't really like because it was ketchupby and the little like bbq sauce, but it didn't taste bad. Just would not have made it better in my opinion. The portions are large and we had plenty to take home. Our waitress was very accommodating and also had plenty of suggestions. Everything went amazing during my visit. The restaurant was full and there's no question as to why. The service is excellent and all the food comes out hot, fresh and tastes delicious. One of the times I went it was kinda noisy inside because of the kids and the next time I went I sat outside and it was the perfect ambience. Can't recommend this place more. read more

Was very excited to try out sumo. Been seeing and hearing great stuff about them. Been a Ramen fan and have tasted many all across the states. Right off the bat atmosphere is inviting and more open with tables pretty much in close proximity of each other. Very friendly staff and management. But I have to sadly say the food and especially the ramen was underwhelming and quite disappointing. Dumplings huge size but way too dense in terms of the dough. Filling was nothing wow and not flavorful. Spicy but that's all there is to it. The bibambop and sumo rice entree...great portion but again...way too mushy of rice and lacked severly in flavor. The bib bowl with the chashu was a bit better flavor overall with the sweeter braised flavor. Brussels sprouts...why tossed in a chile glaze??? Ruins it basically. Ramen....portion is good ...visually presentable...well balanced meat to noodle ratio...but man the broth really sucks...I've had ramen from all over from Michelin star to food trucks...and I have to say flavor wise this is the worst in I've had....like I mean nooooo flavor at all...like idk how that can be... read more

Let me first start with the positives, ambiance and service were good, it's a funky place. You can get your beer prepared with Tajin, a Sapporo preparado with a lime turns into a blue moon, very good. The pork bao had a good flavor, the sticky bun was nice and the pork was tender. The shrimp crispy rolls were amazing, easily the star of the show. They were devoured within seconds. Now for the disappointing factor, the ramen. What should have been the stand out sadly fell second to the appetizers. The broth and noodles to the chicken and pork tonkatsu were beyond bland and lacked any notable flavor. I was expecting to be amazed from all the things I had heard about the establishment. But sadly it was just good. The broth was good but when the chicken is breaded, you can't really let it sit too long bc the breading starts to fall apart. I suggest to get pork instead if anything that comes with chicken. I was just expecting more. However the price was good for what I ate. Some of the items were missing from my meal. I didn't want to bother the server to get the rest of the items my ramen was suppose to have in it. Granted it was very busy and a long wait. I just didn't want to bother my poor overwhelmed server for the rest of the items my ramen is suppose to have. Kitchen should already know what goes in it. The establishment is small so space is limited. I will come back to see that maybe it was just a busy night and some things were missed bc it was chaotic. Service was welcoming and had good suggestions. They knew the menu well and were very helpful. This is one of the reasons my experience was pleasant. The ambiance... Well yes it's ramen. But the greatness of ramen is so much more than just playing anime on the giant tv. The Japanese culture is so much more than just anime. And it's not even anime that relevant to the atmosphere. On a final note. If you get cold easily, bring a coat bc the air vents near the bar are working perfectly fine and you'll find yourself uncomfortable waiting for your meal. Again. Went to Sumo Ramen Bar over the weekend and I have to say I love that the valley finally has couple of places with good ramen and this place is on my top ramen places to go eat. First we called just to verify if they had booths since we need one because we have kids and we need it since they will not stay still on regular tables. They us told yes and also saved us a table under our name which was wonderful and as soon as we got in they gave us the table. The place is not huge but has enough tables and it has a very nice ambiance. Now for the food it was very good my wife ordered Tonkotsu and I got Negi shoyu. My wife ramen was so good and mine had dumplings in my ramen and it was very different but in a good way. I am coming back and I do recommend this place. read more

Would not recommend or visit again. Tonkatsu Ramen - 1/5 Gyoza - 1/5 Brussels - 2/5 Crispy Shrimp Rolls -2/5 To begin, the tonkatsu ramen is not tonkatsu ramen. The broth is not even white and creamy, it's brown, like a shoyu. It was not good. It's tolerable. I would not come again for this. Unfortunately, I have yet to find a good, rich, creamy and flavorful tonkatsu Ramen in the valley. The eggs were not soft boiled, they were fully done. The mushroom mix tasted tangy, and were button mushrooms - usually are woodear or shiitake. The meat was decent, and there was a good amount so for that I was content. The noodles were okay. Gyoza- texture and cook was good but the filling was weird. It was like minced meat, crumbly, and the taste was odd. It was the same filling as the freaking shrimp rolls. Did not taste like your typical dumpling/gyoza so was really disappointed. I understand putting a twist, but the texture and different taste really threw me off. Brussels - fried good, tasted fine. The sauce is okay, nothing crazy. A drizzle of the mayo would've made it. The lemon was a weird take, since there's no fat to balance it. Just spicy. Wasn't terrible but could be a lot better, nothing special. Crispy shrimp rolls - these were fine too. Just the filling that threw me off with that ground minced pork.
