I am posting this review because the dentist sent me a lovely "form" email asking me about my experience. My husband took my son to the dentist to have sealant applied to his molars. My second grader was understandably frightened by the instruments used to prop his mouth open, as well as the cotton placed under his tongue. Then he was told by this dentist who "appreciates that every child...will have distinctive levels of learning and coping skills" that he would have to have someone hold his hands down. My son grew even more frightened at this and Dr. Andy made a lovely throat slashing gesture (I kid you not, right in front of my child) then told my husband that he would have to reschedule the appointment as they did not have time to "restrain" him that day. "Restrain"? Seriously? Then this dentist asked my husband if my son was autistic, right in front of my child. He is not autistic but was just merely frightened out of his wits at this point. I am aghast at the lack of compassion and professionalism this dentist displayed, at no time did this dentist try to reassure my son, not once in the less than 3 minutes he spent tormenting him. I can only hope that it was a single occurrence and not the norm, as although we will not be back, I hate to think of another young child leaving the dentist office wondering what he did wrong and why this dentist did not like him. Before this appointment, my son was extremely proud of "no cavities" and was looking forward to this visit. I can only hope that after this rather traumatizing experience, my son will still feel this way when he sees another dentist. read more
