Terrible communication Calls rarely returned when inquiring about a love one. My husband was in excellent physical condition when he went in and was in terrible shape when he was released. Using a walker. He has dementia and unfortunately had made comments to the wrong people about wanting to die so that's how he ended up there, he was classified as a 1013. I would never recommend this mental hospital to anyone. He was still pretty sharp when he went in but came out worse mentally. I read reviews and totally agree with the negative reviews. I was just released from here. The staff is horrible, telling a patient that had a seizure that if they had another one they would be sent to the violent ward. One nurse fell asleep when she was supposed to be watching us. I saw my psychologist twice in one week. I was promised, by him, that I would get treated by medication a certain way, and when I got there he said that he did not want to do that anymore. I would not recommend this even to my worst enemy. We had a very poor experience for our elderly family member that was admitted on 3/11/26. He was transferred at 4 am and was confused because of poor English (thick accent) from the intake staff. Communication was difficult. We were called at 5:10 am to assist the staff and didn't know he was even being transferred. Valuables transferred with the patient were lost as well as the clothing items we brought for him. There several times we called the main number and no one ever answered, this after 40 rings. The line eventually, automatically disconnects. He was discharged the following Monday on 3/16/26 in clothing that did not belong to him and the on-site staff could not locate any of his personal items at that time. Despite numerous calls and messages requesting resolution and return of these items, no return calls from any representative of the facility have occurred. It is unfortunate that we had no choice in where he was transferred by NE GA Hospital/Braselton. Unfortunately, it appears that we will have to resort to legal action to resolve a claim on getting personal effects returned or accounted for. read more

I was admitted on a Thursday evening about 5 o'clock. I saw my psychologist the next day Friday morning, where he interviewed me for about 10 minutes. After that, I saw my psychologist only in the mornings for the next five days and it was less than 5 minutes each day. He would ask the same questions every day to over 30 patients in the room. did you eat, did you sleep and how is your thoughts? After that did not see him again until the next day. Most of the staff was very condescending and not compassionate at all. We slept in dorm like rooms some made for two beds, but they had three beds in most of the rooms. The bathroom consisted of curtains, which gave you no privacy at all when using the restroom. It was very difficult to sleep at night because they check you every 10 to 15 minutes. Lights blaring in the atrium doors open, making it very difficult to sleep. In the morning, you are awakened at 5:30 - 6 o'clock. Are the patients were required to leave their rooms afterwards they would lock all the patients rooms doors so you had no access. They did leave two rooms open one for the men one for the ladies which turned out to be a community bathroom for the next 13 hours. Patient was sit in the lobby area for hours with nothing to do but watch a TV or have a a few sessions of bingo or a nurse letting us walk around the room for exercise. Basically there is no classes to help you with your mental health, we just sat in the room all day no games nothing to do But sit around for hours at a time. Never got to see the outside for the five days I was there they did not allow us any gym time or time to just get some fresh air. This place is horrible. I literally saw patients peeing on themselves on the floor in corners in beds and all the staff would do is wipe it up with a towel no sanitizing the area. The stench of urine in your rooms in some cases was unbearable. This place needs to be shut down. read more

Avoid at all costs. Dovetailing on the other reviews. You spend more time sitting in a room. Group therapy is either one or two sessions daily. The rest are sitting around watching TV and endless rap videos for 12 hours staring at empty walls, though some of the techs don't allow that type of music. If you're lucky, you get outside breaks. Some Staff argue in front of patients. Sick people are ignored. A fight broke out. The police were called, the victim asked to press charges, and had a witness. The perp wasn't arrested. He returned to his group. The victim forced the staff to take him to the hospital. He was put in isolation. Weird. Staff assaulted, multiple patient fights, it's an unsafe environment. It's a daily occurrence. Communication issues are rampant. My medications were never administered correctly. My eyedrops for glaucoma were given in the middle of the day instead of before bedtime as prescribed. My thyroid medicine was dispensed incorrectly. The bulk of the nurses and techs are good people, with the exception of the few shitheads who are always present in every organization. A shout out to Miss Cass and Miss Felicia, who were great in leading our group. Those folks are some unsung, unappreciated heroes. Anne Marie is an outstanding nurse. In my observation, the staff is overworked. Staff preached too much about Jesus. If that's your thing, great. Implying you're going to hell because you don't believe is the antithesis of stabilization/rehab. Not everybody wants to hear that message during counseling. My social worker was more interested in venting about the negatives of her job and pay. The food was okay. The food was carb-heavy, though. The snacks were loaded with carbs and sugars. Not an optimal diet for psych and addiction issues imo. Go elsewhere. read more

Most of the staff were very unkind and unhelpful. I came out with more trauma than I did coming in. Staff were recording patients when patients were getting upset, which is against HIPAA. I have anxiety and PTSD, I started having a panic attack and a nurse told me that I should stop crying. Which only made things worse. Patient was sexually harassing other patients and nothing was done about it. read more

omg, i don't know where to start. They sent my granddaughter here for help. They only made her worst they kick you out of your room 6 am in the morning and then unlock the doors at 10 pm who does that all day they walk around like a zombie because they cant go back in the room until 10 pm my granddaughter was sleeping on the floor in the day room they have no books or nothing just a tv this is not a mental reability its more like a jail setting. They give you too much medicine to keep u out of it if you got insurance they will keep you longer to make a higher bill they dont speak to you at all when you try to check on your love one they ignore the hell out of you. You can not get through to anybody, only they are so rude only nice person I saw was the lady at the front counter when I was checking in my granddaughter clothes. Please do not send your loved ones here, you will regret. i can't even give them 1 star I give them 0. They're making me put a star just so i can send it . read more

I will have to say that this is the worse place in the entire world to get treatment at. I feel that you could get better care in prison than this mental hospital. I was at my local hospital which is 3 hours away from Sumit Ridge. I was approved for a room in the early morning hours and was transported via an ambulance. When I got to the facility I was left in the waiting room from 3:30 pm until 5:00 am the next day. Since I didn't come with clothes or shoes I was not allowed to use the restroom while I was waiting to be put in my room that I was assigned to prior to arriving at this hospital. I was in the waiting room with several people who arrived after my approval and everyone was given a room before I did even though I was guaranteed a bed immediately. At 5:00 am when I was finally taken to the room (I was not aware of anything) someone I don't know if they were male or female undressed me (I was not in the right mind) and put me in the shower. They gave me a shower and dressed me and then allowed me to sleep until wake up time which was 6 am. I was the taken to eat breakfast with the senior people in the facility. I was then taken to the Adult Until to which was very unorganized. I was given nothing until the night time for my room. The rooms were so nasty and there was no privacy to use the restroom as there was a curtain acting as a door to the restroom. At night time you are locked in a hallway with about 20 rooms. Right outside my room was where the techs would sit after doing their rounds. They would come in your room every 15 minutes to scan your beaker which is like an ankle monitor and shine a light in your eye. If you don't get good sleep it does effect your mental state. My first day in the day room there was this guy who was being very racist. Him and another guy were arguing back and forth with each other and the staff just allowed it. They sat there and watched the entire thing happen. Finally after several hours they did give the "white" guy a shot and he was put in what they call the quiet room with a semi bed that didn't fold into a normal bed. The other guy was sitting right across from me and he was acting normal. Now mind you both guys were in the wrong. For some reason there was this older man sitting behind me in these hard ass chair and the "black" guy gets up climbs in the chair next to this guy (he has to be in his 70's) and begins betting this poor man. The man was sent to jail but this could have been avoided if the staff would have punished both patients to begin with. On Friday which was my 3rd day there I was transferred to what they call intermediate care. This was a place where you sat in a room with 20 to 30 people no individual chairs just couch style chairs starring at the wall in front of you. The TV was always on a show with very vulgar language and didn't appeal to many people in the room. There was a schedule on the wall with a list of all of the therapy sessions but none of that happened. We may have had 1 or 2 therapy sessions a day and was denied minimum care while in this room. The only good thing about being in this room is that you were allowed to use the cafeteria instead of getting a boxed breakfast/lunch/dinner. You would be in this room from about 7 am until 9:30 -10:00 pm even though were we supposed to go back to the Adult Unit at 9 pm to shower. It was lights out at 10 pm and there were times where we couldn't even shower because we got back to the rooms so late. I will say that this is not a hospital that actually will treat you for whatever reason you came to the hospital. While there we were informed that this hospital was an automatic 10-13 even if you came there at your own free will and that this hospital was a type of hospital that if you were wanted by the police they couldn't even get you out (just as if you wanted to sign yourself out). This hospital does not allow you to sign yourself out for AMA. You can request to be changed to a 10-12 (I think) after 72 hours of being there and then it will be at least 72 more hours before you can get out. This hospital requires almost every patient to stay for a minimum of 7 days. They will milk every bit of money they can from you. Now onto the staff. None of the tech's or nurses were professional by any means. They would argue and fight in front of the patients. You can't ask them for anything because their answers are either, I don't know, or I am busy. It seems like none of the nurses or tech's that ran the intermediate room had a clue as to what is going on. A day or 2 before you are to be discharged you will meet with a guy who has you do a survey. PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOU LIE ON THIS FORM BECAUSE YOU WILL BE HELD LONGER IF YOU COMPLAIN ABOUT ANYTHING. I didn't feel that it was fair that our names were placed in the exit survey or that someone was sitting right there reading what you were putting down on the paper. read more

I had to beg for them to let me out because another patient kept threatening me and trying to attack me. the nurses let it happen and told me that I was at fault. He called and left a voicemail with no return number and when I returned the call and left a message for him, he never called me back or follow through with giving my child medication. The showers are to tiny for the kids to take baths and the meals they are being given are very comparable to jail food. This is not a place for anyone to get help but rather a place to break someone down and cause more problems than they can actually fix. My sister is there and referred to this place worse than prison. They don't listen to her. She has a sinus infection and they have done nothing. She tells me they are mean and physical with her. She can hardly walk, or stand. There is nothing she could do to these people. Her blood pressure is real high and it has to do with her being sick. WORST "HOSPITAL" EVER! DO NOT GO!!!!! I arrived the first day at around 3:30-4:00 p.m. We walked to the front desk and I asked how long the wait time would be and the receptionist who was incredibly rude said 4 to 8 hours MINIMUM. Since I was not planning on it being so long, I left. I came back two days later, and there were only two people ahead of me. When I went back, I was forced to lock all my belongings into a cabinet. Then after 20 minutes, I went into a room where I was supposed to fill out paperwork. When I finished, I turned it in. After an hour of waiting, the nurse came into the room and asked if I had finished filling out the paperwork. I looked at her strangely and said that I had turned it in an hour ago. When it was time for the evaluation, the nurse was very rude and stern. When I said I'm not sure if when I hear random things that it is actually something others don't hear, or if it was possibly another sound from a tv, other person, etc. She did not believe me and said that she would not do anything about it since I couldn't get my story straight. Eventually, I was tired of her yelling at me and started to cry. She looked at me and said there is no reason to cry. The nurse recommended that I do outpatient therapy, but I did it think it was necessary, and I was quite scared of going after I saw the reviews about how people have been attacked. After that day, I am traumatized for life, and warn anyone who decides to go there. PLEASE DO NOT GO THERE! YOU WILL BE TRAUMATIZED FOREVER! read more

Now here's the facts she is not a resident of Georgia, she ran away from Montgomery's, Alabama, where she was originally staying when she was attending college, etc.... these people took 2 weeks to contact me and when they did they had the nerve to tell me my daughter is getting discharge the next day I'm like lady. I live out town you got give 2 or 3 days to get things together. As prior complaints. The staff is rude, they do not answer their phone, and lastly when my daughter was discharge they did not give her a action plan and they made us wait to retrieve her items for over 2 hours. I was admitted here back in 2021 for depression. I was more traumatized from this place than before. They will put you in a straight jacket if you act out. We were kept in one small room all together (every kid there) from 7am- 9pm every single day. I went through multiple "roommates" and I never felt safe to sleep comfortably. They provide not even the bare minimum you need to survive on the daily. The only way to get out is to pretend you're okay and lie to them. The things I say while being here were so horrible I am scarred to this day. This place needs to be shut down immediately. read more

This facility is a joke!!! took my 14 year old bonus daughter there because she was having some issues. They told us they would call and update us... Lies.... we would call and call and would not get an answer the phone would just ring. One time a nurse answered and said she was busy and did not have time to talk to me about my bonus daughter. She voluntary went so we tried to discharge her after 3 days we were not allowed, the doctors, patient advocate , no one would call us back. They told her if she did not give blood that she would have to stay up to seven days longer. The Billing department called and while she was still in the hospital wanting to know when we could pay for her stay. These people were more concerned about money than the welfare of the patients. She said the nurses were rude to the patients, I would not take my dog to this place. Please do not take your family member to this place I have nothing positive to say about it. read more

Was admitted for depression and was placed in acute / intermediate area for first 2 days and when moved to the 'best' unit was told they initially placed me there to scare me. No access to rooms all day and my personal health concerns were pretty much overlooked. No 1-2-1 therapy, had to hunt down mg psychiatrist and spent most of our time sitting around. This is essentially a jail. Mental health treatment in this country is a disgrace. Don't punish us for being unwell. read more

Absolute worst place. Took my sister here for help when she came out she was worse. She got sick while she was there and had to be taken to the hospital when the hospital released her Summit Ridge wouldn't answer the phone. There was no one to get a hold of to come and pick her up so my sister had to walk barefooted From Northside Hospital in the middle of the night all the way to Summit Ridge, scared and crying. When they released her, they gave her all her medication except One of the most important ones, her clonazepam. She has now had to be without it for a couple of weeks because we can't seem to get it back. We were told that the doctor canceled it which he cannot do that is illegal. He did not write the prescription. My sister is on government disability due to her severe anxiety and depression. She cannot function in the social life in a normal setting. She is disabled. Her medication is most important to her. I found out while she was in Summit Ridge that they never even gave her her clonazepam which is a daily dose as she is supposed to be given . I am still trying to get her medication back from the place because it cannot be filled again. Pharmacist cannot fill it since it was a newly filled bottle. The pharmacist is telling me that we have to go back there to get her medication and that it is against the law and illegal for this doctor to be holding it or to have thrown it away or have canceled it. Whatever is going on is wrong. Every time I try to call up there I get no answers. Nobody knows what's going on. I can't find out if the doctor is in. I can't talk to any nurses cause the lady at the front desk seems she doesn't know what's going on or who to contact to help me. She's rude and rolls her eyes when I'm asking her (Who by the way is the only person representing that whole place to get you any form of help) To please allow me to speak to the doctor, who supposedly was the one seeing my sister and canceled or kept her prescription. She tells me I don't know who that was and I said well you're the only one that can find out because I'm not allowed to go back there, she's said well I don't know who to call. Why is this place still open with all the bad ratings. The nurses are hella rude. They never answer the phone. I got transferred to the wrong unit for my 25 year old daughter. They transferred me to the minors unit and a nurse name Linda gave me information on someone named Kaitlyn. Even put her on the phone then realized I was transferred to the wrong unit. I can not get in touch with anyone during the day so I tried in the middle of the night and the nurse that I talked to was the rudest, nastiest piece of shit I've ever talked to at a place of business. Again WHY IS THIS PLACE STILL OPEN??? There should be a -5 star available to chose because they deserve less than that really. read more

My 77-year old husband, who had advanced Alzheimer's and aphasia, was admitted to get his medications regulated so he could go into a memory care facility. When he was admitted, we had taken a half-mile walk the day before, he was coming to the table to eat, and used words, although they didn't make sense. Fifteen days later, he could no longer walk, couldn't raise himself out of bed, couldn't feed himself, mumbled, and was so dehydrated his urine was almost red. They transferred him to Northside Gwinnette because his white blood count was a little high. He slept the next 48 hours. I have no idea what they did to him, but two months after he was admitted he died. I wasn't allowed to visit because of "Covid." If you have someone there, go and check on them. Better yet, GET THEM OUT OF THERE, NOW! The only person I had interaction with, Rita, I think, (black lady who worked the desk in the evenings), was very nice. I wish the whole facility could be closed, but they definitely should remove the fact that they can help senior citizens. I was going to post this without any stars, but it says I must give a star rating, so it is actually zero, although it looks like I gave it one. Mann I was in the adolescence part in 2020 or 2021 sum like that. When I tell you every time I got a loud (didn't even get physical) or was arguing with the staff I would get held down or even tackled sometimes by security and had a syringe stabbed into my arm and within like 10 minutes I'd be knocked out. I was stabbed by syringes in both arms multiple times. I want to say in total it was like 10 to 13 times (don't remember the number). Never faught the staff or got violent in this place.They got this thing where they say a number and that's when you know you finna get the tranquilizer and I would literally run away from them. Oh and one time I was running and one of the security got in my face like ready to fight and I tried to beak away but when I tell you this dude slammed be and locked me down. I don't even remember what happen after that cause they had stabbed me with a syringe and I was sleep. Dont recommend. read more

Worst experience ever. If I could give minus points I would. If you really need help, don't go there. Majority of the staff is unqualified and insensitive. The rooms are like prison cells. The showers and toilets are nasty as... there's a curtain not even a door. None of their staff would use the restrooms the patient's have to use. I witnessed how a lady got sedated by force for asking to see a doctor because they violated her rights to see a psychiatrist in 24 hours. One man was locked up in the hallway by himself at least 4 hours after they injected him 2 shots if I had to guess I say haldol. One staff member threatened a 21 Year old young woman that she will be given an injection because she wrote something on the wall. She wasn't violent at all!! Mrs Amina is a horrible head nurse. Unqualified, rude person. The fish always starts to stink at the head!! She don't need to be there. She fits in a slaughterhouse but under no circumstances she should work with human beings especially not no mental ill people. They wake you up at 6:00 am and let you wait on a damn chair till it's time for breakfast. This is either at 8:00 or 8:30 depends on the group they put you in. 40 people in one cube until the staff split them in 3 groups. 2 of the groups are condemned to watch television for the most of the day. Bedtime is after 9:15 pm. So this is when you get to go to the cell. I was asking for a second blanket but they refused to give me one. I am sure my bill is going to be high as... but I can't get another blanket. Everyone is freezing there. They do offer groups but Mrs John is rude as well. The other therapists are trying and they do have a passion for their job. I am thinking about taking legal steps against them. This is obvious a violation of several human rights!! Don't ever bring a loved one there. This hospital is no help at all. It's hell! read more

They did not offer visitation and kids were treated as if they had something contagious. I cannot stress enough....do not allow your elderly, loved one to go anywhere near this facility. My father never should've been referred to this facility. Elderly with Parkinson's and dementia. Horrible care and complete neglect resulted in him developing aspiration pneumonia and a serious open wound from being left in soiled and wet linens. the communication with family was absolutely atrocious, especially from the case manager, who is the person who should be coordinating care and communication with family. there was zero outreach from the facility to keep us updated or give information. The only way we could communicate is if we called for hours on the end to leave messages that were typically not returned. The phone system is horrible, the only people who ever answer are at the front desk, but they have no authority to give you any information. this is not a place for an elderly person with dementia. They should not have a unit for geriatrics. Horrible patient care, zero care and concern. It felt as if my father had been held hostage, we were not allowed to talk to him or get any updates in a timely fashion. finally got a short call from someone who told me my father had been transferred to Northside Gwinnett due to dehydration, and then slammed the phone down. My father remained in the hospital, battling aspiration pneumonia, bedsores, and who knows what else including Failure to thrive.... my guess is no one helped him eat (he did require assistance due to his Parkinson's). I think he stayed there for a week without any assistance to eat his meals. My father never recovered, and was never discharged from Northside, where he received excellent care. Sadly, he passed away...an agonizing last few days directly related to the lack of care received at Summit Ridge. I just hope that none of the employees of that atrocious place ever have to receive the kind of care that they provide. I worked in healthcare for about 20 years and I have never in my life seen anything like this....how Summit Ridge passes for a facility that is supposed to be taking care of defenseless, vulnerable elderly people is beyond me. The door should have been closed long ago and it's sad that probably nothing will ever change the way this facility is run. I'm just sorry that it exists and that families have false hopes that their loved one will get help there. The employees at this facility who have chosen to work in healthcare should be ashamed and should have a really, really hard time going to sleep at night, knowing that they have failed in every way to do what they are there to do. read more

This so called hospital is not regulated by the State of GA. I filed a complaint and after assigning me a case # about a month later, they emailed me that they have no control. The entity that is suppose to regulate this place is Georgia Department of Community Health, phone # (404) 657-4700 I hope more people contact them and complain. read more

Honestly, one star is WAY too much to give this "hospital." I was sent here a few months ago, and none of the staff had any respect for the patients. Not only the patients, but also the STAFF would push you around and hit you. They would give you random medication, and if you asked what it was they wouldn't even tell you. There was hardly any therapy. They made you sit in the same room every day from 7 am- 9:30 pm. There was nothing to do besides talk and sleep throughout the day, and if you slept, they would add more days to your stay because "sleeping is a sign of depression." Absolutely disgusting. Don't ever send your loved ones to this hell hole. read more

My son was having suicidal thoughts and I took him here he was so much better. I am grateful to the staff at summit ridge. The do have strict visitation policies and you can't see your loved ones that often but I wrote to my son everyday and he was committed to feeling better and that makes all the difference. read more

if i could give this place 0 stars i would. i was a patient here about 3 years ago. Nurses laughed at me and told me i should loose weight during my strip search when i was coming in. I got in trouble for having panic attacks during what they call group therapy and all the staff are just over all rude and unprofessional. PLEASE do not bring your loved ones here read more

This place is a nightmare!!!!! The nurses are very uncaring and straight up mean!!!! I was unable to walk due to muscle atrophy from being in ICU and they would not help me dress or get around at all. Very mean and cruel treatment here. read more
