There are several classrooms and teachers for a variety of instruments including violin, saxophone, etc. One of the students I know did not get on well with their first instructor and was quickly reassigned to another who they just love. It's good to know the students have options and the owners want students to have an enjoyable experience. Plenty of parking behind the building in a free public lot. Handicap entrance is on the street side of the building with on-street parking available. Restrooms available on classroom level. Store sells and rents instruments and associated items.

They taught me so well, in fact, that I recently formed my own band - "Abbot and The Rosh Hashananana's". The owner of this shop, Nate, obviously loves and understands the business, and he also takes his time to show and explain the different types of guitars that he offers, and why they might make sense. There is also an awesome Golden Retriever in the store to keep you company if you just want to hang out with a dog instead of buy a guitar. The most impressive thing about Whole Tone is the completeness of the shop -- not only can you buy the guitar, but you can service it there as well, get your lessons, and also come in for demos of talented guitarists to see what is actually possible. I suppose you could just click and buy your guitar for the lowest price plus shipping on Amazon -- but you'll miss out on the rest of an important part of the experience, not to mention, the chance to actually try the equipment and hear what it sounds like before you do make a purchase. Its not merely about the lowest price. It also has to sound right. And if it makes you feel any better -- Nate did match the price of my guitar to whatever the lowest price was online -- without me even having to ask. That's pretty cool. My daughter started classes when she turned one, but if we ever have more children they will start even sooner. The experience is really unparalleled by any other program we have tried.

I had no intention of buying anything the first time I visited, and he still spent ten minutes patiently explaining how to change the heads on my new (to me) kit. Needless to say, when I eventually decided to swap out the heads I went back to the store and went over all of my options with Gus. Could I go to a huge chain store and get more of a selection? Possibly. But I'd much rather support a local small business where the people who work there know my name and take the time to work with me one-on-one to make sure I learn something new every time I come in and get a product that fits my needs.

My little guy took the Rookies class here last spring but unfortunately it wasn't the best fit for us. My son enjoyed the class, but we weren't getting much out of it other than fun...which is GREAT and I would fine with with paying for an activity just for fun, but for $50/class, I was hoping he would learn more - which I think he would if he were a little older. It proved challenging because sometimes it would be a very small group of 2 or 3 students and it would seem like he was getting good instruction and other times the studio would be packed with kids without much individual attention and some kids were very disruptive to the class. Again, totally normal for young kids, but too much to pay in my opinion for that age range for what they got out of it. I will gladly pay that when he is a little older and able to get more out of the classes. I'd recommend this place to older kiddos and teenagers, it really is a cool spot!
