The new manager is quite a nice dude. My mom went in here to open an account with her best friend. They're both seniors and the gentleman helped them out and took his time to answer questions. Also the ladies in the front are quite a pleasure to work with. I'm leaving my banks and switching here read more

They deleted all of my autopay information and external bank information. Then sent me an email saying payments are past due. They stated they did not know how the information got deleted. I have been trying to pay my bills for over a week, spent at least three and a half hours on the phone with them and they cannot seem to figure out a way for me to pay electronically. Each representative has a different story and puts you on hold forever. I guess I need to take over a wad of cash and see if they will take that - worst experience with a financial institution in my life. read more

Their new website is horrible! I have called three times about it not connecting with Intuit QuickBooks, only with half of my business accounts! I will have no choice but to look elsewhere for a bank. read more

been with Summit since 1998, after today I will be looking for a different bank. Got hit last year with $1.00 per month fee for monthly statement. I'm not ok with that but agreed. They took it out of my savings. I called to ask them to take out of my checking next months which they did. I looked today and it's once again coming out of my savings. I made a phone and a trip to my credit union only to be told it can no longer come out of checking! ZERO STARS AND I WILL LOOK FOR A BANK WHO WILL DO AS I WANT DONE WITH MY MONEY! SHAME ON YOUR LAZY EMPLOYEES!!! read more

I have been with Summit for over 10 years. I switched vehicles from a truck to a Jeep. Everything went smoothly at dealer except when I got a bill in the mail for insurance for $850.00. State Farm has tried to resolve with them, but they say my insurance lapsed but State Farm says it did not. I talked with Emily who gave me someone that was from their insurance company who had no time for my issue. I called back and got Elly who then got Tim (probably not real name) who was beyond rude from the start and hung up on me after saying my insurance lapsed. I really liked Summit, but I think it is time to bank somewhere that I am not a number. I used to recommend Summit to friends. Summit used to be so helpful but now everything is online or automated. I know it's a pain, but I will be changing banks. read more

I really hate to use this forum vs. emailing the president of SCU, but no where on their website is a list of executives email addresses...so here goes. I recently moved my accts from Dane County Credit union as their service has sunk to non existent. It hasn't proven to be a smart move. I applied for a refinance of a loan that I took in Florida in mid January from the auto dealerships bank where I purchased a car. . Another story in itself. Anyway, from the time I submitted my app to Summit , with a few missing pieces I intended to provide when the app was reviewed until the time I finally told them to forget it, was 4 weeks! I have a credit score of 812, have 40 years of solid financial dealings, 5 mortgages, 7 car loans, and several other transactions....all crystal clear and not one missed payment ever! However, the bot [Chris Delang] that I had to deal with and I exchange over 50 emails, I provided him with literally everything he asked for, but repeatedly he called, and I missed his calls, and never left a message with any detail. After awhile I felt like I was being interrogated vs. applying for a loan. I am legally deaf, which I explained to him from the onset, and requested that he communicate primarily via email. He did not. I worked in banking for 11 years, made dozens of auto loans, and never was treated, nor treated anyone, like I was . Totally inept and unprofessional. I thought I would lose my mind! BTW, I had nearly $20,000 down on a $40,000 car. I stayed with the Dealerships Indiana bank. So much for doing business locally. It's apparent to me that these loan reps have little training and zero customer service skills. read more

We are out of town and the mobile deposit has been down for 2 days with no ETA on when it will be back. Meanwhile they charge us overdrafts and give us penalties on loans for their issue. Such a joke! Don't recommend this bank at all!! read more

We've done both a mortgage & a HELOC (home equity line of credit) through Summit and overall things have worked out fairly well. The HELOC was quick and seamless, we were able to work with staff mostly via phone & email and things went off without a hitch. The mortgage was a bit more annoying; our agent just wasn't as communicative and timely with responses as I would have expected. We've also been able to pop in for notary services on occasion (call first to make sure someone is there with the stamp!) read more

THE WORST and un--user--friendly online assistance ever! We have an auto loan through you guys and once this car is paid off....NEVER AGAIN!! In this day and age, it should not take more than a couple minutes to make our loan payment online and yet, there is no way of doing that without jumping through hoops. Very frustrating!! If i could give no stars---I would! read more

Summit is really good at calling you to make your payments which is great, but if you as a customer have questions no amount of emails or phone calls will get you an answer. read more

If I could leave 0 stars, I would leave 0 stars. I have banked at a few places as I have lived in several areas of the country. Summit Credit Union is unprofessional and has double standards that they choose to implement to fit their needs. A bank needs to have set, logical protocols that are followed. This place operates on a "case-by-case" basis. They are personal, personal as in unprofessional. They will not hesitate to treat you like a child and berate you if you have an overdraft. They arrange deposits and withdrawals to work to their advantage so that you will overdraft even if you have enough in your account. They closed an account after they accepted a direct deposit so that my checks would bounce. I was not informed. read more

The only reason why I did not give Summit Credit a 5 star rating is because there is always room for improvement (boy, have I been through a few performance evaluations!). I have been with Summit Credit Union since 1991, when it was formerly known as Cuna Credit Union, and then it was Greater Wisconsin Credit for a short bit. I no longer live in WI and I still bank with Summit, all online and through CU Services. Never in last 24 years have I ever had a bad experience nor been treated unprofessionally, seriously; no lie. I highly recommend Summit to everyone and to go to any other credit union for that matter (I am a member of two other credit unions close to where I live). No I did not receive any sort of remuneration for this post. read more

We went in to talk about a home loan. None of our questions about the home buying process were answered. We know where we're at and we needed someone to give us hard answers because we're not a bank, not sugar coat things. They ended up pushing credit cards on us and never giving us the information we requested. We will not be banking with them because they could not be honest with us, or provide any consistent answers on our best options. read more

I have banked with this credit for some 30 years; in those years I have had few complaints. I find their customer service is excellent. I was not happy with the process for online access when adopted but have learned to work with it. read more

I am beyond upset with this institution and I should have removed my money back when the Senior banker decided I did not have enough money in my portfolio for him to spend time assisting me. I have banked with Summit for many years and allowed them to give me a 50 dollar gift card for the discriminatory treatment I received. now today they have shut down my accounts and cards for an account they never removed me from. When my son turned 18 we had me removed from his account. He is now 19 1/2 and I just received a letter that because he has an overdraft I have 30 days to move my money. My dad just died his urn order was declined because they shut off my card I get married in 13 days orders are not going through because they have turned off my card. I have bills that need to be paid. They just shut your card off with no notice. and I was removed from his account. I do not have a card a log in or a password. I spoke with Nicole for assistance with this and she is no longer with the organization. They claim we did not sign a form to get him removed. It is not my fault if a form was not provided to me. I normally suggest people bank with Summit I will not make that mistake again. What an extremely unfair and rude way to treat a person. Once a kid turns 18 it is no longer a minor account, but hey what do I know. anyone know of any good banks out there where I can move my 5 accounts and my families other two accounts. - read more

If I could have selected Zero rating, I would have. Having been a Summit Credit Union customer for well over 15 years while living in WI, I moved to FL in 2012. I have done transactions with them since over the phone, and still have accounts there. This week I went to purchase a car for my daughter who still lives in WI, and was met with some foolish restriction that I had to sign the paperwork "in person" in order to complete the purchase of the car. They would not allow the dealership to FedEx the papers to me, sign, and FedEx it back - so the dealership has done this before. It was ridiculous. when I asked the rep at Summit what the difference was if I was signing in person or through FedEx - as long as they got the signature on the original documentation, they couldn't provide me an answer other than saying that was what she was told. Keep in mind, I have good credit and cash down on the deal, and they still were not willing to work with me. I will never do another loan through Summit Credit Union again. My credit card will be canceled too. They have lost a customer. read more

Very disappointed with fraud protection. Personally I will be out hundreds nearly a thousand. Pulling money ASAP so it's not tens of thousands missing next. Unfortunate as I've been mostly happy with using Summit over the years. read more

I have enjoyed being a member of Summit Credit Union for over 10 years. Today, unfortunately, I received very poor customer service. I deposited a check for my consulting firm, where my customer paid two invoices on one check. For some reason the teller rudely spoke to me, inquiring "what is your job?" multiple times, And that she will have to call my customer on the check to validate it! Thankfully, another teller took over. But, I was deeply offended by the interaction and can't help but wonder if me being minority had anything to do with it. read more

My father passed away over a year ago. He had several accounts with Summit, including his mortgage. Upon his death, my brother (Executor), went to Summit to identify all the accounts held by our father. Summit confirmed all of Dad's accounts, and we proceeded to close our father's estate. A month later, Summit contacts us saying they found another account. Two months later, another account. We repeatedly requested a final listing of all active accounts, are assured we have this and still are contacted months later saying they found even more from our father. Additionally, my brother asked for assistance in closing Dad's mortgage. Several employees were unable to assist, managers were infrequently onsite, and long phone calls to an HQ office would ensue. Many times we were given directives to close his mortgage, only to be told differing directives days later (depending on the bank contact of the day). When asked why there isn't a written policy for such matters, (I'm certain our father isn't the first to pass with an outstanding mortgage), we were told there were no processes accessible at the branch. On several occasions, my brother was asked to come into a branch for signatures, etc. only to find the manager was not onsite that day and he needed to return. Summit did offer compensation ($50 gift card) for my brother's inconvenience, and Summit has yet to provide him with this gift card. Repeatedly, with every visit to a Summit branch, employees were not equipped to manage what should be SOP. These inefficiencies created more time, effort and heartache for two people who just lost their dad. AND, more than 1 year after his passing, we just received a call from Summit that they now found a Safe Deposit Box under our father's name. We asked them about this a year ago, and they had no record of him renting one. We even had the key. I cannot express deeply enough, how frustrated and disappointed we are with our transactions at Summit Credit Union. Their lack of accountability, follow-through, processes, professionalism, and availability created more stress than necessary in these trying times. read more

I'm going to start by saying that I've had bank accounts with Johnson Bank, Anchor Bank and UW Credit Union since moving to WI nearly a decade ago. I have really enjoyed having my accounts at UW for the last 7 years and am even a little sad to go (they treated me really well and have a phenomenal staff) but in the past 6 weeks, Summit Credit Union has completely won my family over! As of this week, we now have our mortgage, our personal loan, our checking and our savings accounts through Summit. They have bent over backwards to help us achieve every goal that we wanted and needed to make in order to feel financially secure, and completely went out of their way to help us save money where ever they could for no reason other than to help us and make us happy! By refinancing our mortgage and getting our personal loan through Summit, we literally saved $4,000+ cash this month that we wouldn't have seen a penny of had we gone though any one of the other 6 banks/credit unions that we were shopping around with. Not only that but we will be saving nearly $250 a month, every month for the next 30 years. We live in Janesville and we never had to make a single trip to Madison to sign a thing. Instead Summit sent a loan officer to our home twice at our convenience to take care of everything. Every representative that we've had the pleasure of working with has come across as very professional while at the same time extremely personable and likable (I've noticed Credit Unions in general tend to have a great balance when it comes to taking care of their customers in a personable, yet professional way that federal banks can't quite seem to match). I'm still wowed over how well Summit has treated us and I want everyone to know how much they obviously value their customers. The whole experience was top notch and I have nothing but good things to say. Thank you for everything Summit, we really appreciate what you've done for our family! Looking forward to working with you over the next fifteen-thirty years, -Brittany W. ***The Summit location we worked with specifically was 2424 Rimrock Rd, #100, Madison, WI 53713*** read more

We have been members for about 20 years and will always be credit union members, this however is no longer a credit union. Twice in the past two weeks now they have stolen money from our account in for form of overdraft fees. Last week they took out $75 in fees to put us negative about $45 (the math doesn't add up I know). Even after they "graciously refunded" those fees it immediately brought the account positive. So you can imagine my shock when they did it again. Only this time an overdraft fee was assessed on our account to give us an ending balance of positive $26 (again I know, then why the fee). This time when it was brought to their attention they refused to refund this theft because I would not accept their reasoning for taking it in the first place. This is a huge money grab and for a credit union that "serves" it's members, the only thing happening around there lately is stealing from it's members. ***If you have an account with them, check your ledgers read more

I would give 0 stars if it were a choice. First of all when opening an account, they do a "free credit search" which means a hard inquiry shows on your credit report and I was not informed of that. If I would have known, I would have immediately pulled out, but I didn't know until I checked my score. I wasn't even applying for a loan!! If you deposit a check, the funds are never available immediately, or even soon. Super frustrating when running a business. We have a small business loan through them and they ask for personal financial information and our tax return on what seems to be a quarterly basis, which makes 0 sense to me since the loan is ALREADY established and we have never even made a late payment. Yet another thing that they never mentioned at origination. Now, on their rewards program - their policy is NO REFUNDS no matter what. I booked a hotel room a month prior to check in and when the weekend came, they got 24" of snow, so we could not go. The hotel said that they would credit them, but they refused and said that my points are just gone. They are awful. read more
