Unfortunately, I had to deal with James Kyle, Professor Mike, and Zack who weren't only dishonest, but fostered an unprofessional environment and retaliated with hostility. Their actions created so much tension in the classroom, that the negative environment made the program impossible for anyone to effectively participate or feel secure. This is not the "family that wants you to win" I thought it was. Just another greedy college that will lie, cheat and steal from your education. If you're considering ATA, talk to current and recent students first and ask specifically about the classroom dynamic. A few bad eggs need to go before this can potentially be considered a real college.

The fast paced program requires some self discipline to study and practice the skills on your own time. We spent 2 weeks (full time) in class and then spent 2 weeks in a skilled nursing facility for clinicals. There was always time for questions and extra help if needed. It is a great program for people who are getting started in the medical field and want to pursue nursing but do not want to make a long term commitment just yet for schooling. There is a few weeks (possibly up to 4 weeks) between the time that you finish clinicals and the time that you can take the state exam, because you have to wait for the state to confirm and approve your class/clinicals hours. This part is a little frustrating - but it is the state and not the school that dictates this waiting period.

The communication is horrible unless it's about making payments to them. The owner is hard to get ahold of and never answers. Only time she shows up is to collect money. They never seemed prepared and kept forgetting things like informing us where our clinicals would be which left the students scrambling. On our first day of school everyone was told a different start time which left us outside waiting for hours. When we tried to reach out there was no answer. Also there was no light in our bathroom for about 2 1/2 weeks. Our clinical instructor was aggressive and doesn't understand physical boundaries. If I could give 0 stars I would.

As a parent of a high school student attending this college as a concurrent student, I have to say…read morethat the enrollment process could definitely use some work. There was quite a bit of confusion when it came to getting information about enrolling, touring, and registering a high school student, and at times I felt like we were being given the runaround. For families who aren't already familiar with the college enrollment process, I think the information should be much clearer and easier to navigate. First impressions really matter, especially when you're a new student or parent trying to figure everything out. Thankfully, we did encounter a counselor who completely changed the experience for us. He was incredibly helpful, patient, and willing to walk us through the entire process--from enrollment to registering for classes. He even took the time to give us a tour of the campus on his own down time when he absolutely didn't have to. That level of service stood out to me because that's exactly the kind of person you want representing a college to new students and their families. I do think the front office and admissions area could use some additional training when it comes to professionalism and face-to-face customer service. The people greeting you when you first walk (admissions desk) onto a campus are often the first impression of the entire institution. If I were judging the college solely on my initial enrollment experience, I honestly don't think I would have felt very welcomed or excited about becoming a student. There is definitely room for improvement in this area. However, once my son was registered and started classes, our experience became much more positive. He's only taking one class this semester, but his professor has been wonderful. She is kind, attentive, and genuinely seems interested in getting to know each student individually. She even set aside time for the class to complete a "getting to know you" form, which I thought was such a great personal touch. As a parent, that made me feel much more confident that we had made the right decision. I've also had the opportunity to meet several other professors while on campus, and those interactions have been really encouraging. They've been welcoming, polite, and enthusiastic when meeting students, and that energy makes a difference. When professors are excited to see your student and make them feel welcome, it naturally makes both the student AND the parent excited about this new chapter. Overall, I see a lot of potential here. I just hope the people overseeing admissions and the front office take a closer look at the new-student experience. A young adult coming straight from high school shouldn't have to navigate a confusing process to get basic information, and parents shouldn't feel like they have to piece everything together themselves. The enrollment process may have been a little rocky for us, but the positive interactions we've had with the counselor and professors have definitely helped turn things around. I'm hopeful that with some improvements in communication, organization, professionalism, and customer service, the college can create the welcoming first impression that new students and families deserve.

Being an older transfer student was difficult to navigate an application. I came in and someone…read morestood beside me and walked me through everything. But I cannot say enough GREAT things about Professor Panlilio! I have had the privilege of having her as my Intermediate Medical-Surgical Nursing professor, clinical instructor, and previously as my lab instructor for eight weeks last semester. By far, she has been the best professor I have had throughout my nursing program. She is extremely knowledgeable, passionate about teaching, and genuinely cares about her students success. What makes her stand out is the time and effort she puts into making sure her students truly understand the material rather than just memorize it. She provides excellent real-life examples that make even the most complicated nursing concepts easier to understand and remember. She creates an environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, learning, and building confidence in their nursing skills. You can tell she truly wants her students to succeed and become great nurses. I am incredibly grateful to have had the opportunity to learn from her in the classroom, lab, and clinical setting. I paid less than 1000 for my phlebotomy course and an externship is also included in the price. You have to pay for textbooks ,scrubs. and Complio fees but its a less expensive alternative. The school is not "rundown" like other people are describing it its actually a nice classroom. There is also a nice lab that was donated, that is attached to the class for the blood draws. The course goes in dept with medical lab training also. I've seen reviews of people saying the had to find a job on their own or had no assistance. It is said before you attend the class that they will try to assist you with job placement but it is NOT a guarantee. Honestly its just like a regular college/university . When you finish a degree, do they help you find a job? Most likely the answer is NO. You have to find one yourself. If you are considering applying for the school DO IT!!!!!!! You pay less money than other schools, its a trade school which means NO STUDENT DEBT, You will learn alot, have a certificate, And be nationally certified( if you pass your NHA Exam which I did)

I highly recommend, a great alternative with even better results…read more I'm writing this review on behalf of my son who recently completed the full-time CNA program at Healthcare Science Academy in Chula Vista and I can confidently say it was money well spent. Originally, we looked into a CNA program at a location nearby...they had too many applicants. That's when I searched around the area and found this school, and honestly, it turned out to be a blessing in disguise. The program was well structured, the instructors were incredibly knowledgeable and supportive and the learning environment was professional and encouraging. He had a thorough clinical rotation at a skilled nursing facility/rehab nearby. My son learned so much during the course and more importantly he PASSED his CNA exam on the first try (btw, he really studied hard and practiced blood pressures, checking respirations and heart rate on each of our family members.) One of the best parts is that all the credits are transferable. He's on track to apply to further his education and pursue a career in nursing. I highly recommend Healthcare Science Academy.
