The first rest stop I stopped at was well stocked and the staff/volunteers were very friendly and very helpful. The only complaint I have is there was no signage that I saw. I live Los Angeles so I'm not that familiar with the streets. I ended up getting lost 3 times. I followed some riders right past the first rest stop and 2.5 miles down the road found out they were doing the 80 mile ride so I missed the turn around and had to turn back but then got to enjoy the rest stop. I'm a slow rider so I fell behind the pac rather quickly. Coming out of the canyon I saw no signs at all and no other riders around anymore. My cell phone died and it was all guessing trying to find my way back to downtown Summerlin. I was doing the 40 mile ride tracking the distance on my smartwatch and it took me 46.02 miles to get to the finish line. Everything else was great and I would do it again.

Information was offered as far as the routes, parking, meal ticket, etc. The registration included a free T-shirt and offered a 20, 40 or 80 mile option. The next morning I arrived at DS for the event. Parking was not clearly marked and the one person I encountered directing it was not very helpful. So right off the bat I think better signage could have been provided. Having only been cycling a year, I've only done a handful of distance cycling events and this did not compare to what I have seen take place in those other events. Not bad, just different. Not a lot of fanfare at the beginning of the ride or at the end. Compared to other rides not a lot of police presence or SAG vehicles either. I didn't feel the ride portion was clearly marked in spots and was confusing. I think the A-frame type smaller signs I have seen on other rides would have been helpful versus just arrows on the ground. I also heard other riders complain about this issue. I remember one portion where the arrows said right but some riders were going straight and if not for another cyclist familiar with the route directing me I would have missed the turn. This is the first ride that ever took me through a muddy, construction off-road portion as well. As far as rest stops go the two I stopped at were well stocked and the volunteers were friendly. I signed up for the 80 mile route which technically fell short of 80 by about two miles. At the end of the ride our meal ticket gave us a choice of a few food options as they were having a wellness fair at DS that day. No medal for this event which is unfortunate cause it's always nice to have a commemorative reminder of events like this. Will I do this ride again? If I get the same discounted rate then possibly but considering they are roads I can travel any time maybe I will just buy the jersey.

The Turkey Rock is an annual Las Vegas Thanksgiving run hosted by JusRun. This year's schedule was…read moreon Thursday, November 27 at Floyd Lamb Park - Group Area 5 at Tule Springs. Just Run offers a 10 K, 5 K and a 1-mile walk/run. There is also a virtual run. I did participate in the Halloween (Hallowrock) and will be participating in the Rockin Reindeer race in a few weeks. I ended up leaving my residence around 7:20 since Floyd Lamb Park is only a few minutes away from my residence. There were a lot of runners. The race was sold out. Parking was a little difficult. The area near Group Area 5 was completely full. A lot of vehicles had to backup and park near the entrance to Floyd Lamb Park. Luckily, we were able to make it to the start of the race right at 8:00 A.M. The race didn't start until 8:10 A.M. The 10k runners went first. The overall route doesn't have much elevation gain which is great! Unfortunately, the map layout was strange this year. For the 5k, the route had us start from the start line, then cross over from where the additional 5k and 10k runners were, and then had to loop around. When I spoke with other 5k runners on the run, it felt like the course was a lot longer than just a 5k. When I had got to the 2 mile sign, my Garmin had 3.3 miles on it. By the time the race was finished, I had about 4.4 miles on my Garmin. Other runners had also mentioned for the 5k running a lot longer than normal at 5k. JusRun sent out an email addressing the mistaken course change. and had updated the timing to accommodate all of the extra miles for the 5k and 10k runners. I was super sore afterwards, but luckily it was a beautiful day for a run. A medal, cupcake, and water was provided after the race.

It was an out back course. With that said for a city run it was nice that I did not have to cross any streets or worry about cars. Staff was friendly and there was a lot of water stations for the 10K.

CONS: - Three porta potties for 200-300 participants seemed like it was going to be an issue, but luckily there was never too long of a line. - No mile markers along the course, just general knowledge that the first water station was at 1M. If I weren't wearing headphones I probably could have asked, but didn't realize the last stop was at 3M and would have pushed myself a bit more to finish closer to my goal. - Not a huge issue, but surprised there wasn't a finishers medal. There was a snack table and DJ though. - It's a timed race but I've yet to receive any information on my time or where to find it, nearly a week later?

It is so hard to review sports leagues because of all the emotions involved with parents and kids…read more My child has been with this league for 4 years and played every season. Since my family and I are pretty quiet and don't get involved with the parent drama, I don't think that the owner/director knows us at all. We have spoken with him dozens of times about random things and he always acts like he is meeting us for the first time and has no idea who our kids is. I see the director talking with the same favorite coaches and aggressive, loud teams season after season. I am not judging the league based on this but I really wished they would take the time to get to know the kids and parents who have been around for years, paying the fees every few months and just enjoying the games without nasty comments. Okay now my review...trying to be unbiased. Your experience really depends on the coach you get, the parents on your team and the team you are playing and the refs for the game. We have had a few coaches and enjoyed experiences with most of them. Some have been rougher around the edges but for the most part we have been lucky. I will not allow my child to be yelled profanity at or treated like crap. I do see some coaches acting this way and I would have pulled my kid off that team very quickly. The refs have a tough job and I dont think they get paid very much. I try to patient and kind with them. Some of them are really, really wonderful and fair and some are biased and must be blind. It sucks to get a bad ref and I wish that the Director would be more involved to stop the bad ref behavior before it gets out of hand. Sooooo the worst part of the league...the parents. Omigosh the parents! So many over indulged children with their parents forcing them to play or living out an NFL dream. I wish everyone could get on the same page and just sit back, enjoy the game and cheer on their kids without nastiness. Stop yelling at the kids, coaches and the refs! If you have a problem then create your own team and run it your way. Otherwise, just be a parent and enjoy some time with your kids without embarrassing them. All in all we have had a mostly positive experience and I love the NFL jerseys they get. The league is fairly reasonable and there are leagues running almost all year long. if you arent sure about joining, I suggest giving a season a try and see if you like it. This gives you some insight into who are the best coaches and what to request for the next season.

Staff are always friendly and helpful, pickup always goes smoothly, and it doesn't hurt that the medals are cool. This is the first time I've been to the Kellog Zaher park, and the route was along the Angel Trail- I appreciate that participants received an email about the terrain and elevation gains of the route, because this was not the flat, fast run I had expected. Participants were also offered the option of a 1.77 mile "walk" course, which a lot of families took advantage of. This particular run/walk was benefitting the Children's Heart Foundation, and registration included a shirt, nylon drawstring bag, and various updates about upcoming fundraisers and events to benefit the CHF.

Really start your year on message and do the Resolution Run, it totally sets the tone for the new year. In it's second year, the RR has 5K, 10K, and one mile distance options the afternoon of NYE. I'd prefer morning personally, but having it so close to evening gives it a cool, exciting energy. The 4PM start time makes it easy to get in your last run of the year, head home to hit the shower, and still get ready for whatever crazy celebration you have planned. The only downside to this run was the difficulty in finding it. Unless you turned into the very first park entrance (before the fire station) there was no way to see the start line or any attendees to know where the race actually was. But once you found the start line (conveniently located by a bathroom!), it was on. Route around KZ Park was an in-and-out, with elevation gains at the beginning for a mostly downhill end. But the biggest issue was the temperature: 46 and dropping, which was unpleasant. If you didn't go this year, plan to attend the next. The positive atmosphere and uphill course made this an awesome end of year challenge.

Participants got their choice of TWO tees and a finisher's medal left over from previous races. As usual, the event was organized and started on time. Love how they text you your time/pace within minutes of crossing the finish line, super convenient. Just like several of the last JusRun races, this one was held at the Western Beltway trail, starting behind PKWY Tavern and using an out-and-back. As an added bonus, PKWY Tavern had breakfast specials 25% off and discounted drinks available for participants!

Location was convenient, price was right, and of course, the cute medal and shirt didn't hurt! Organization was on point. Missed packed pickup due to Turkey Prep 2017 but grabbed my stuff as soon as I got on site Thursday morning. Race started on time, route was clearly marked, and despite slacking off on running for the past several months, I ran the whole way! My time sucked but I love that they offer timing services because I track my workouts. Looking forward to the next holiday run!
