There's a lot of unique artworks plaster around the whole downtown block and let's not forget the food ! Also the weather is perfect ! It's always on the last week of September, so it's not too hot or too cold, just right. If you're in Vegas, this is definitely one of the festivals to check out ~

Food and Drink booths are literally everywhere along with water station. All the stages were set up nicely for a great view and I absolutely loved that the souvenirs to our grade were everywhere ! I got to listen to some great bands along with many new upcoming artists and DJs. We also got to go do some shopping, and explore some neat events like Silent Disco. There were plenty of areas for photo opportunities. Looking forward for next year!!

We had a great time, listening to some music, but missed the performers. My tip for you is to avoid the parking nightmare, and park in the areas where they have shuttles that take you to and from the event. It's free, and they drop you right off at the door. I'll never understand why more people don't take advantage of this convenience. Be kind, & tip your driver!

First booth on the right Beer and Shots! Haaaaay! $4 Jager shots and not sure about the beer but who cares after the $4 shots. At this point total score-I knew this night was gonna be good. How could it get any better? Walking around, there are so many trucks I haven't tried and want to but you only have so much room in your belly. LOL Started with an Asian flavor taco from Dragon Grille. That's it ....I just found my favorite food truck! Hands down it was the best darn taco and I will be hankerin for another till I find them out and about again! We all were completely impressed. The chickie in the front with the totally cute accent was helpful and such a sweetheart. Headed over to Sauced for the Big Easy Balls with Srirachi sauce. I had been told these are most awesome and I wanted to see for myself. Chicken and Rice formed into a ball and fried. Amazeballs! Talking about forgetting your diet for the night... Free Vegas StrEATS lanyard with Yelp checkin. Thanks! The vibe is pretty chill, everyone standing around juggling their drinks and food.....BECAUSE there is nowhere to sit other than a gross street ledge which I refused to sit. They definitely need some chairs of some sort but they know what they are doing. I'm sure there is a reason for not having the chairs/table set up. I see people complaining in the reviews regarding the downtown parking prices and some of the hotel garages just need your ticket validated inside the hotel before you leave-free parking peeps. Its not a secret or maybe it is. Anyways, what is better than cheap eats, flowin drinks, music and art? The whole night as usual with StrEATS was a success! =)

A…read morefestival that started out very unorganized and haphazard has become a regular fixture on my monthly calendar. I still am not sure how they decide which Saturday they are going to do this event. I've been the day after First Friday and I've been in the middle of the month. Part of the reason this gets 5 stars from me is that I live at The Ogden, so I literally walk down stairs from my place and BAM! Food Truck heaven. plus I like the addition of the local vendors selling their hand crafted wares. I'm not gonna buy most of it because its just not my style, but I'm all about small local vendors getting their shot. There's always a few regulars and a few change-ups each month. You can almost always count on Slidin Thru and Grouchy John's but the rest vary from month to month. And it's always a good mix of people in attendance. It's an all ages event so it usually draws that same crowd you see at First Friday, & it's FREE to get in so if you are in the area there is definitely no good reason to not check it out. My one main complaint is that there's around 4 or 5 tables total for the event. Therefore, there is always that awkward time after buying the food of walking around trying to find some place to post up and eat. For an event with as many attendees as this tends to get, and as much extra room as they have in the parking lot, whoever is in charge needs to get on this. It's a tiny little omission that would make a huge difference in the quality of the event.

One food truck was serving pasta and wanted an astounding $22-$23 for one bowl of pasta, we quickly skipped past that booth along with everyone else who saw their incredibly high prices. There was a stage with live music, and the band was absolutely fantastic. But that wasn't the only entertainment this event had to offer... Surprisingly, they even had live wrestling... it was very entertaining. My 11yo son sat with his mouth opened the whole show... he didn't know what to think. But we all highly enjoyed it. On the other side of the event area, there was a carnival with rides, games, and a fun house. It was a lot of fun watching the riders laughing and screaming their heads off on the thrill rides. Everyone we came across was friendly, helpful, and just seemed happy to be there. We brought our puppy with us, and he had a great time too. He even made himself a few new puppy friends. There were also three balloons in the sky that launched from another location. So, it's not a huge festival, but it's free and definitely a cool thing to see up close. I was so excited to show the BF a piece of my childhood! It was an awesome to reminisce and though this was a far stretch of what the Balloon Classic is, only five balloons at the Glow tonight, it is enough to satisfy an old memory. The Glow is where the hot air balloons inflate and tether, stay to the ground, and hit their propane fueled guns to light up the balloons. They do waves and random light ups and popcorn, where they do short bursts. It's a cool thing to see and a great picture shots! Now imagine more of them! That's how the Balloon Classic is. I think now I'll try to make my way to Albuquerque next year to experience it! Thanks again Yelp! Another reason you're fantastic!

I HIGHLY SUGGEST going general admission for this one. Also as a side note don't purchase your tickets in advance like I did. It is better to pay a few dollars more and decide you don't want to walk around a festival in 100F heat. I went VIP and now am sorry I did. First of all this is the most unorganized food festival that I have ever been too. We had to stand in line to get wrist bands. Then as soon as we got wrist band we had to stand in another line to wait to get in. Then we had to stand in yet ANOTHER line to get our VIP food tickets. Also on the way to stand in the Food Ticket line there were countless trip hazards. (the most I have ever seen anywhere!) THE PROBLEM WITH VIP IS THAT IT LIMITS YOU TO ONLY CERTAIN VENDERS. YOU ALSO NEED A CELL PHONE to bring up a map of the event and it also lets you know what VIP Venders that you can try. You also need to GRAB A SEAT FAST because covered seating is very limited and fills up FAST. Then I hope you are OK with LOUD Music. The music they play is uncomfortably LOUD. Another problem with VIP is that YOU DON'T GET YOUR MONEYS WORTH. After three plates I was full and didn't want anymore food. We just wanted to leave. That said and ANYWAYS - The food I tried was good. I wish plates were smaller so I could have stomach room to try more things. I think what I enjoyed most was that my husband figured out the locations of certain food trucks and brought back the foods to our seats. I also enjoyed watching a young man (like 15 or 16 years old) air drumming and be-bopping to an extended version of Rod Steward's Do You Think I'm Sexy. I wonder if he knew that was a fifty year old song? Then Abba's Dancing Queen filled the air and he went cold. That was entertaining. Got lucky and had a close parking spot. Good Luck!

You are relegated to a spectator even if you know you're true parade material, and this is why I love the Halloween Parade! All you need is a costume, and you too can be IN the parade. You can even win a prize in one of the multiple costume categories. The parade attracts all types from Burning Man veterans to curious tourists to sweet transvestites to families... yes, all types are welcome and all types march proudly! If you're an overachiever, you can create an art car or a float, but it's not necessary. (Although that is on my bucket list: to have an art car or float in the Halloween Parade!) Of course, if you prefer spectating, that's an option too. There is plenty to look at. This year one of my favorites was an illuminated fishing boat and hooked fish. The fish was built around a scooter, and the scooter was pulling a little trailer with a boat. Ingenious cuteness at its best! Every year on Halloween it happens whether it's a Monday or a Saturday, so you never have an excuse to stay at home or be without a costume! It's true local flavor at its best.

There were a lot of fire breathing art cars on display after the parade, and at the end of one area the Dancetronauts had a stage and a large crowd. All the bars around the area were packed, and most people were in costumes. Very fun night that can me completely FREE if you so chose to. There are food trucks and stands around that you can get food at if you're hungry, and they even had bars set up around the area and most I saw had little to no line. The only reason why I didn't give 5 stars was bc the final party area could be a little larger. Hopefully next year will be even bigger.
