The team arrived on time with surfboards, bodyboards, tent and wetsuits for the kids. They helped them every step of the way and were engaged 100% of the time. I really appreciated that while the coaches worked with the kids there was always one coach who was just looking out for their safety. They easily gained the kids' trust and I was surprised how kids who had zero interest in surfing eventually tried it and had fun doing it, thanks to the coaches' encouragement and enthusiasm. Perfect combination of fun and professional! They were also a pleasure to work with on email/phone/text amd that's so important to busy working mamas like me. I'll certainly reach out to them again the next time we have a beach party or want to try out a surf camp.

Mike was great. Met us with board and wetsuits and met each of us at our level. He was very hands on and out there in the water with us the whole time. We met by the bathrooms of El Porto by lifeguard station 12 and picked up our wetsuits from their cars. From there, we headed towards a less crowded portion of the water by the rocks, and did a quick yoga flow before going into the basics of how to pop up and hold the board. After the lesson, we got assigned our boards and went off into the water. I think both instructors tried to spread their attention as evenly as possible. I was able to stand up multiple times and surf some one-foot waves (go me!). The time flew by, and once it was over, we brought the surfboards back to their cars. They'll take Venmo for tips. I would suggest wearing your flip flops to the beach since the ground was really hot, and also bringing a water bottle for post-surf. There's paid parking available in the lot although the meters seem to be broken since I still got a ticket even though my parking should've been valid. Otherwise there's very limited street parking. You can leave your valuables in the instructor's car. You can book private lessons on the website or small group lessons as well. Definitely book the lesson - it's a great workout and you'll have so much fun!

FYI, we haven't even been at the beach since covid. So, yeah... first time in the water in a while and learning how to surf. My wife was able to stand on the board on her first wave. It was really fun. I needed more help and they were always there to coach us right along. The owner's dog is also super sweet. I painted a pottery, didn't make it from scratch but picked the unpainted one from the shelf and paint it. They have special colors that can make very pretty texture and requires no skill whatsoever. It's very relaxing and fun. They'll fire it for you in 1-2 weeks, then send a text for pick-up. It's a long drive from me but the pottery I got is really worth it!
