Summadayze occurs once a year, either on New Years Eve or New Years day.
I went there this year, my experience beginning in one of the biggest lineups I have ever seen.
An onlooker would have thought there was an iPhone release or something!
The organisers were were ready to adapt however, and they began bringing punters in through the VIP and staff entrances.
There were so many flaming people here!
(Not people on fire, I was using it as a figure of speech ;)
I got in in time for Snoop Dogg to begin at 3:30pm and I think everyone at the festival were there. It was very hot. Around 37-40degrees. The sun was blazing, not a cloud in the sky.
I was expecting there to be sunscreen available there, but I was unable to find any. Thankfully a friend of mine managed to sneak some in otherwise I would have burnt to a crisp. They don't allow punters to bring bottles in.
A can of Jonnie and Coke cost $11.50.
The greatest thievery known to man.
It's disgusting really. I can't see how such a mark-up is even legal.
By the end of the night, the entirety of Rymill Park was literally covered in litter. Cans and bottles, crushed and creating a synthetic floor.
At previous music festival I had been to, in an effort to counter the ridiculous drink prices and the hours of clean up the next day, the bar would pay back 50c for each empty can/bottle returned.
I don't see how this music festival was unable to implement to seemingly obvious plans to combat skin cancer and pollution. read more
