Chicken Kebab with side of rice and babaganoush 5/5!
Rahi Y.

We had a quick lunch at the Sumac after work, food was very well seasoned and tasted great. Portion sizes were generous. The menu is Middle East inspired which caters to vegetarians and meat eaters. Service is quick and super friendly. Restaurant was clean. All the food items are priced decently. Ambiance is nothing to write home about, this a restaurant best for take outs and application based food deliveries. Overall I am happy with my experience at Sumac.

Came here for lunch with family. Baba ghanoush, falafel, salad, date cookie and baklava were most favored In our group, but the chicken and salmon were a little overcooked for my taste. Friendly service and huge portions.

Always looking for great Mediterrean places, and although it's not close to me, I stumbled upon trying Sumac as I reminisce about the old days with Planet Granite. The location itself is a little awkward because it's right on El Camino - but parking was easy enough when I was there. The staff was really nice, and our party chose to sit outside in the back during nicer weather. The food itself was just alright - and also noticeably a smaller portion than what we're used to (especially with higher menu prices.) So that being said, I can say it's a not a terrible place to go to if making a decision elsewhere becomes hairy, but we definitely wanted a bit more in both quantity and flavor.

Passed this place many times and glad I finally stopped in. Found my new fav local Mediterranean place. Chris the cashier is super nice and I think the cook was his dad. Both very nice and food is amazing. Couldn't wait to get home so pics show some eaten items. Conveniently located on El Camino with their own parking lot in back. Place is clean and modern looking. Definitely will be back to try all their dishes. See what we ordered below. - Baklava - not too sweet but dough could be crispier. - Falafel appetizer - best falafel I've had. Moist and a little spice at the end. - Hummus - great taste and perfect consistency. A good portion size for the order. Came with pita bread. - Kofta Kebab Entree - pick one side. I picked hummus. - rice was a little hard but kofta was yummy. Plenty to eat with a cucumber salad. Good size portion. Ordered to go and have plenty left overs.

This is the best Mediterranean spot! Our favorite place! I highly recommend it to everyone, everything here is delicious! It's always very clean here! The owners and staff are also very friendly and welcoming!

Ordered the chicken shawarma plate. Generous portion and everything was flavorful and well seasoned! Friendly service was a plus! I plan on dining here again whenever I'm back in the area.

I was in the area. Owner was nice. First time having dolma, glad I tried it! Good! Reviews were saying to try the sauce, which I did. Wasn't spicy and borderline bland, but I can see why people like it. May be good to compliment the text of the food? Salmon was bland and nothing special. Same with the pita and hummus.

Inconvenient location and outdated exterior keeps this place hidden. But it's certainly a HIDDEN GEM in Belmont. Well prepared, fresh food paired with generous portion sizes made the experience well worth it. The staff were welcoming and attentive. Give this place a try.

Came to Sumac after co-hosting a fun founders & creatives hike at Crystal Springs nearby! I like the bright blue building. I got the build your plate with beef & lamb shawarma and sides Greek salad, baba ganoush, and rice. It also comes with pita bread. I enjoyed it! We came with a large party of 15+ and got spots towards the end. The waiters were friendly and refilled our water often. Overall good food and good for groups!

Disclaimer: I made this order as a takeout order which took about 35 minutes to get to me, so I did not eat it at peak warmth/freshness. That being said, the ingredients tasted fresh and healthy. Nothing tasted old or over salted/seasoned. The meatballs were very tender and had good flavor. The pita bread was tastier than most other places where I have had it as well. I think that was the most unexpected thing for me. I like how they cut it into little triangles. The white sauce that came with the food was very good and creamy, yet it tasted healthy. I'll definitely eat here again for a healthy meal that is tasty. I'm curious to try out their hummus in the future.

Falafel plate with hummus

I got a falafel plate for pickup here recently. I am by no means an expert, but I have eaten a lot of falafel around here and this place makes the best falafel I have ever had. The exterior is crunchy and the inside is soft and moist and so fresh. You can tell from the moment you stick a fork inside it that it's different in texture from other falafel. The rice was also delicious, seasoned and warm. I picked hummus as the side so that came with soft pita. The hummus was really smooth. It was a lovely meal! The guy helping us out when we picked up our order was also really nice. We will be back!

Great place to eat! We're first timers for Valentines Day yesterday. Lots of food for what you pay for. A must try is the Lebanese soda and falafels.

Do we order at the table or at a counter? Would separate checks be possible for a group of about 10? Hoping to have a casual meet-up at your restaurant. Thank you.

Lunch is counter service and more casual. We do a sit down dinner service as well. So lunch would be better for accommodating separate checks .

The eggplant we got was also insanely flavorful and well-seasoned, and I would get this again in a heartbeat. The minty jalapeno chicken made me want to try to recreate this dish at home. I love anything with mint in it, and I love anything with jalapenos in it. Put them together, and it's a combo made in heaven. The spring rolls were also very good, but pretty standard, so it's not a must-try, but they're great if you're craving something deep fried and crispy. Omg, the coconut rice. I'd never really had coconut rice like this before despite growing up around Asian food, and I've had dreams about eating this again. We doordashed everything for our most recent meal and even though quality can sometimes suffer when you're having something delivered (or even when you're getting takeout), every dish was so incredible. I can't wait for our next meal from Burma Spice - in fact, I think I might doordash it again for lunch tomorrow!

If you were expecting only 3 shrimp and all eggplant then maybe you will like more. The Burma house noodles were too sweet and funky for my family and my taste, not savory enough or nutty enough (it did reheat better the next day and somehow tasted a bit better). Tea leaf salad was decent, nothing wow about it, probably from a decent quality salad kit if I had to guess. Especially considering how quickly the two we ordered came out. There are a few Burmese restaurants in SF and Berkeley I compare this place to which is why I give it a solid 3.

I ordered the breakfast hash with drip coffee, which was very hearty and delicious. The potato pureé in the dish tasted great and cut the saltiness from the pork. The poached egg was slightly overcooked but I didn't mind because the sauce really won me over. Prices are slightly higher than typical brunch spots, but the portions are generous and worth it.
