I have…read moreseen a chiropractor in the past for the same issue and all he did was treat my acute pain over a few sessions and told me to come back if it ever happened again. To me that is only relieving the problem for a short period of time, prolonging possible injury or destruction of the tissues and bone and not preventing or healing the body for years to come. Dr. Schmidt has shown me how to fix, prevent and maintain my neurological, muscular, and spinal problems. Just a month ago I developed severe neck pain, upper back pain, right arm numbness and stiff muscles that I could not lift my arm elbow high or turn my neck. After several days of having this pain I was referred to Dr. Schmidt by a co-worker of mine. I am 24 years old and would say that I have always been in relative good health; I have a very active job, never had any surgeries or major illness and overall thought my body was good and healthy. I shortly learned how much of a mess my body was and could not believe it. I have suffered from severe headaches my whole life that had virtually gone un-diagnosable, weekly stabbing lower back pain, popping and clicking in my SI joints, and the new short term symptoms of being unable to move my arm and neck that came with numbness and great pain. I learned that I was in stage two of spinal degeneration, I had collapsed arches in my left foot, all were collapsed in my right, my pelvis was tilted and rotated, my right leg was shorter then my left by TWO inches, my entire spine from top to bottom was tilted or off center and the alignment was to the left, and the space at the top of my spine on the right where all of the major nerves go in to the spinal cord was very compressed and small. After eleven adjustments and associated therapies I can say in the last month I have seen a 90% overall improvement. My feet pain has diminished, I have not had one headache, my lower back pain and clicking is gone, arm numbness and tingling is gone, I can fully move my neck and body without pain. To me this has been incredible and have seen so many changes and I overall feel so much better. With Dr. Schmidt's care I have seen neurological, muscular, and spinal changes. We have been going to this clinic for ten years and almost immediately ran into problems with the…read morereception staff! Very poor patient relations skills. We loved the pediatrician so much we decided to bare with it and not complain. Eventually, after waiting over three or four years, the rude staff got replaced with real professional patient relation specialists and we were relieved! Then a few of years ago we had a problem with one of the nurses who broke a needle into my son's thigh for being too aggressive while giving him a flu shot. That made us go through an unnecessary procedure where we all had to get AIDS Testing (evidently the needle poked the nurse, too) and my son had to get another injection! I should have filed a complaint, but out of respect for our pediatrician... we kept our mouth shut. I should have taken that whole incident as a sign, because a few years later a man at the lab had to stick my son with numerous needles to draw his blood. My son was traumatized and crying out in anguish! I luckily had some over-the-counter lidocaine spray I used on him to relieve the unsuccessful numerous attempts! We weren't gonna let that man touch our son again. Which is exactly what we told the same male lab tech yesterday when we had to get my son's 11 year Well Child Visit labs taken. Some middle aged blonde chick comes over to prep my son and find a good vein and I proceeded to get my lidocaine spray ready for post-procedure and the woman declares she "won't allow" me to spray the numbing spray over the injection area. I immediately stated that I'm going to do it anyway and so she refused to proceed with any lab work. I bust out cussing them out for being sadistic psycho freaks as I left the building. Needless to say, we no longer need the services from any providers at this location! There apparently is a pattern of staff that appear to enjoy hurting children there. I highly do not recommend this clinic. Your children deserve better!

I have been to High Pointe three times now: for two spinal shots and one spinal surgery at C5-C6…read more All three times, the experience has been exceptional - from the welcome I received upon check-in to my departure. The nursing staff and medical team are collectively well-qualified, compassionate, and professional. They thoroughly explain the procedure, what to expect, and the proper after-care at home. For my most recent procedure, the spinal surgery, I was impressed with how well the IV was inserted. Normally, phlebotomists have difficulty with IVs and drawing blood since I have rolling veins. Not so in this case! It was probably one of the easiest times I've ever had one done and there was little pain. The anesthesiologist asked a comprehensive number of questions and ensured that I felt comfortable going into surgery. Since I was having surgery on my neck and the normal way to put in a breathing tube would have cause additional stress on my neck (and ultimately pain, even if I couldn't feel it during surgery), he went out of his way to determine a way to insert a breathing tube effectively and without causing pain. I didn't ask that he do this. He did this on this own which shows his commitment to compassionate care and doing no harm to patients. The surgeon did a phenomenal job on the spinal surgery! After I had been dealing with a pinched nerve in the C5-6 region for 11 months, he was able to correct it during the surgery! He removed part of the vertebrae and noted that the nerve "popped up" immediately - exactly the result that was needed. Immediately after the surgery, I had NO PAIN OR NUMBNESSS in my left arm and hand. After living with the pain and numbness for 11 months, it felt surreal to go about the rest of my day without even a minutest amount of pain in my left arm or hand. The pain in my neck (where the surgical site was) is sore, but that's expected and I was told to expect it since muscles and tissues would be moved around, and part of the vertebrae removed. The appropriate amount of medication was prescribed and is able to address the pain. High Pointe followed up with me the day after my surgery to check on me. I gave an update and had a couple of questions for the nurse. She was able to answer my question quickly. I would high recommend High Pointe for anyone considering surgery by one of the providers. The experience far exceeded my expectations!

If a surgery center receives anything but a five star rating, you should be scared. Very scared. Fortunately, I didn't have to be. Being clean and well kept for a medical facility goes without saying. But the staff was very friendly and put you at ease. I wasn't very scared of going into surgery, but I'd be lying if I told you I wasn't at all apprehensive. It is surgery after all, even if it is miles away from any vital organs. Any number of things can go wrong. And the staff there was all smiley and joked around with me to help disperse some of that apprehensiveness. (One of the receptionists was a Vikings fan and made a comment about my Vikings sweatshirt. We had some fun poking fun at our next door rivals.) You had a private stall to get ready and whoever was there with you was allowed to see you just before they took you away. I remember being sprawled out on a surgery table with arms out much like Neo was in the last Matrix movie. It was kind of surreal and very Holy-like. I don't remember much of the recovery area as I only woke up briefly to mumble that I felt nauseous. I didn't feel like I said it very loud, but I heard some nurses scrambling to page a doc to see if they could give me some medicine for it, so either I said it louder than I thought, or the nurses were very attentive. Surgery didn't turn out to be that big of a deal to me other than not reacting well to general anesthetic. With that said, I don't care to repeat it anytime soon. But if I end up back at High Pointe, I'll certainly feel better that I'm in good hands.

If you are trying to figure out what is going on with you, I would not recommend. They are basically googling with you! Nurses and staff are the best part of this business. Some nurses are better to initiate IV therapy because they know how to not leave bruises. There are 8 IV chairs and they don't over schedule so it's never crowded. The overhead light is super fluorescent for the Nurses to find veins but too bright for me. Plenty of parking for patients as the staff park on side streets. Much appreciated. Lastly, even if you believe IV therapy is for you, there are much cheaper options in the Twin Cities.

We had had an amazing experience in the past with Complex Care for my youngest child before she…read morepassed. When we went in for my son we tried a new doctor. She told us she could handle my son's conditions even though they were complex. We were also supposed to be part of a pilot program. We were able to get help one time when he was ill, but other than that we were ghosted. When I asked for more support the provider was concerned because he was "complex". She claimed not to understand his conditions. What happened was she was giving incorrect information to his providers and probably confusing him with another patient. I asked to be transferred to another doctor in the department since my son was enjoying working with them. My son was discriminated against and not offered that option. His voice was not heard in his own health care needs. The provider was rude and told us he was "too complex" for complex care. She was quick to push us out of the system into another system against my son's wishes. I once again asked to see another doctor as all my "complex child" needs is a handicapped parking pass, someone for me to troubleshoot with, and to email doctors and a check in every six months. Which at the end of the day isn't asking a lot of this doctors and nurses in complex care. I am concerned we were pushed out due to the fact that we are a neurodiverse family and the provider didn't seem to be able to understand how to relate to us. My son is crushed. He is not really interested in the new provider and his trust in Gillette looking out for him is shattered. I attempted to reach out and explain again for him, but received a certified letter that bordered on being openly hostile to our family and disrespectful to people of diverse disability and ethnic backgrounds. I did not show him the letter. I don't know how to explain to him that he has been abandoned and that the only thing complex care knew how to do was bill our insurance. I wish the provider would have been honest from the beginning about not being able to handle my son's needs. It's OK to say "I don't know". She did attempt to get him palliative care services and we do appreciate that. We also will miss the nurse we had there as well. I do wish that Gillette would be more transparent with what they can do so people like my child don't get burned.
