I have driven past Sully's Smokehouse several times and frequently have seen reviews, but I had never stopped in until today. I had no idea what I had been missing. The place is small, just three or four picnic tables inside. The owner is pleasant and personable, and the ribs were BY FAR the best ribs I have ever eaten! They truly did fall off the bone! The sides we ordered were collard greens, potato salad, and coleslaw, and each of them were good too. My friend had chicken which was moist and tender. When we found Sully's it was a 30 min drive but the reviews sold us on the experience. Wow! The ribs were spot on with sauce on the side sweet and spicy- we ate the entire slab. Personally, I think this is the best BBQ I've had in Lake County. The staff is friendly, the food is absolutely delicious and the price is right The smokehouse is a small place with just a few picnic tables inside. It's clean and comfortable. While I love the pulled pork, I fell in love with the lemon pepper chicken that my husband ordered and that is my new go to! Delicious!! I have tried several of the sides, with the exception of the collard greens, and they are so good. My favorite is the baked beans and the yellow potato salad (they have a white one too). Learned about this place about 6 years ago from the local radio station (WQBQ 1410am/FM). So I won a certificate for jumbo pulled pork sandwich and 2 sides. The sandwich is definitely big enough for 2 to split. The sweet bbq sauce is good and the sides you can't go wrong. I've tried all the sides except for the collard greens. My husband ordered a FULL rack dry rub to split and it came with 4 sides! We got yellow and white potato salad pasta salad and coleslaw. The coleslaw and white potato salad was my favorite - now let's talk about the ribs - OMG amazing and falls right off the bone - we got the sauce on the side. This place is beyond awesome. I moved to Florida about 5 years ago. Since then, I've been searching for a good BBQ place. Usually what you find is good meat or good sauce. But good BBQ is about the marriage of these two components. I as skeptical when I got a large pulled pork BBQ and a side of sauce (on the side in case the sauce was garbage). BEST RIBS AND COLE SLAW EVER EATEN!!! I was craving some real down home, authentic, no frills southern ribs and found exactly what I was looking for at Sully's. I ordered baked beans, cole slaw and ribs. I was debating about what side to order and the lady suggested their slaw. She said it was one of their specialties. That is no doubt the truth. As I am writing this review, I am craving their cole slaw. It is really tasty, has raisins which sounds weird, but mixed with the sauce and slaw - the tastes came together amazing. This was actually the best cole slaw I have ever eaten. The baked beans were good too, but not enough to rant about like the slaw and ribs. I will def order the baked beans next time I go bc I can't eat ribs without baked beans. But the ribs and slaw were beyond amazing. Now the ribs - they were true fall-off-the-bone southern ribs that almost melted in your mouth. Excellent flavor, tenderness, not a single bite was tough or hard. The meat fell off as I was picking up each rib. They were cooked to perfection. Excellent service too. The lady who worked at the counter gave me a free side of the stew to try. It was really good too, but I can't stress enough that the ribs and slaw were the best I have ever eaten. The lady and young man behind the counter were very fast, friendly and excellent. She was so good, I asked if she was the owner! She said she wasn't the owner, but had worked their for many years. They both clearly took pride in their work and the restaurant displayed many awards they had won. I got the vinegar sauce, it was very tangy, but this is a matter of taste. I took only the vinegar sauce with my food to go. Next time I go, I will eat there and try the other sauces. The patrons seemed like all regulars. Real southern folks who were extremely friendly and hospitable with some nice small talk and jokes while waiting. I am an Indian American from NY, but the locals were exceptionally welcoming. High reviews must be written by friends or family or just by people who are clueless to good BBQ. Ive had Sullys BBQ several times thinking maybe I had just gotten a bad batch. Their BBQ is boiled before hitting the smoker. If you like parboiled meats then I guess this is your place. The ribs are water logged and not much taste unless you smother them in BBQ sauce. I have to go to Sully's at least once a week to get my pork wrap fix....with mustard sauce. It is truly awesome....and on rare occasions, might actually make it home. I haven't really tried anything else because I can't bring myself to order anything other than the wrap. The shredded pork is paired with their awesome coleslaw (has raisins, which I think adds the perfect touch) and then your favorite BBQ sauce is applied before they wrap it up and send it on it's way. Molly Hatchet loves Sully's! After looking online for a place to eat, while we were in the area playing the Bikefest, this place came up quickly. The reviews were so good, I called up Timmy and suggested we check it out. Now we've been to bbq joints around the country... from Texas, to Florida the Carolinas, everywhere famous for good bbq. This place tops them all! Everything all these rave reviews say is true. Don't expect to pull up to a big fancy Resturant. This is a hidden gem. My GPS said I reached my destination, and there was a woods on one side and a field on the other. I said, "Timmy, I think we're lost!" So looking for a place to turn around I went a few hundred feet further, and looked, and there it was! It was tiny! We pulled up and went in. 3 picnic tables, but we missed the rush! We got ribs, coke slaw, beans and greens! Wow! Outstanding! Got some banana pudding and some sweet tea! Best ribs and Cole slaw we've ever had.
