Deceptively large inside, many tables near the windows, all with the usual assortment of light nibbles and coffees. Staff was not particularly friendly, greeted with the classic Aussie "You 'right?" And no greeting/ending when I collected from the counter. Coffee is above average, not stellar. I didn't try the food so I can't comment there, but you could do much worse for your caffeine fix than Morrison St Cafe.

Very bitter, with a messy finish, no real art on top. I don't want to sound like a wanker but if your focus is coffee maybe you'd at least present a flat white with a rosetta? I'm no pro barista but even I can pull off one of those. The food options are small (doughnuts too small, imo) but look good, and my salted caramel slice was killer. My beef brisket bun (the only sizeable option, not available until around lunchtime) was mostly unremarkable--the biggest impression on me was the softness and freshness of the bun itself. Like I said, the promise is here and I won't stop testing the water for at least another couple of visits, but there are other very good coffee shops within stone's throw. Perhaps this space would make a bigger impact in a growing precinct rather than the established CBD.

I think Michael (the owner) is tops--a really friendly guy. He spoils the Social Hobart crew and in return, we frequent his establishment. The food is delicious. pOp's breakfast burger, or "Pulo burger", has become synonymous with Friday mornings for me. I haven't had a pOp dog in store but the Danish dog I had out at pOp's stall at MoMa took me to another place--a place I like to call "my happy place" (but that's basically the grounds at MONA anyway, so it all made sense). pOp's Rocket (carbonated sugarfied coffee) is an experience, and better than any energy drink I've ever had. But the coffee is kind of woeful. I don't want to lay blame on the barista, because he's a sweetheart, but this year I've resolved to not knowingly order average coffee any more, which means I can't drink coffee at pOp until something changes.

They do fine hot chocolates. But the owner has a real issue with cats. While originally I applauded them for their amazing cat hot chocolate art, the owner is too concerned that's cats are 'uncool' and have ruined my enjoyment of my cat-decorated-drinks. They also have woeful WiFi - a private connection which was opened to the public, but cannot handle more than one user connecting at a time, which makes me sad. There is so much promise here, and so many people willing to help (An Internode Wifi Application is almost complete!), but yet nothing. However, I will continue to support them as THE location for #socialhob at 8am on Friday mornings.

Not only that it's a massive space with a first floor as well, with numerous rooms filled with local artists pieces. Even a room or 2 for meetings? Specialised Art classes out the back of the original post office in another separate building as well. Oh did I mention they do food as well? Open early (7:30am!!!) for coffee and more their hours seem to be far from consistent. It might be an idea to define far more consistent hours IMO. The menu is extensive and we only had pizzas on our visit. We will be back for sure. They do sandwiches, cakes, scones and so much more. Haven't had a coffee there and let's hope it's good. Early days yet and the concept is great. Let's hope it works!!! They deserve everyone to vist and the locals are already embrassing it.

From person to person... but yep these guys nail it. Their food selection is always humble, good fare. Chicken rolls are really good. Super friendly. The guy knows my name which makes me feel bad because I forgot his and am scared to ask for it again...Anyway that guy there is the nicest person in the whole of Centrepoint I reckon.
