Poutine is typical French Canadian(Québécois) fast food and consists of fries topped with cheese curds and gravy. You can add whatever other toppings on top of that depending on your taste - I recommend the maple bacon! Finding good poutine is difficult even in Canada if you're not in Quebec, so you can understand my excitement. The service was really friendly, he told me about all the various Canadians he's had in the past months. They also have some Canadian beers - Moosehead which is a typical lager and then two selections from the Québécois brewery St-Ambroise. The perfect addition to your poutine! They're only open for lunch and then they close again and open up in the evening for the bar crowd - and stay open until 3 am. Midnight poutine is kind of amazing so if you're hitting the town on Amiens you can stop by on your way home for a delicious midnight meal. A definite recommend from this Canuck!

Thank goodness it was close to the awesome B&B I stayed at (shout-out to Room's B&B!). Nothing makes you work up an appetite like pedaling 40 km around the Ypres Salient. Especially when you haven't ridden a bike since you were a kid and you are currently a chubby American tourist. I wisely rented a bike from that strange bikingbox place that has absolutely no signage. It's a convenience store right on the same road as the Menen Gate and my favorite store in all of Belgium: Shop & Go! This yummy food cost only about 10 Euros. And it was delicious! The friendly lady who took my order recommended that I get the fries with mayo, because 'when in Rome...' I was pretty grossed-out by the mayo-dipped fries, but the fries alone were amazing. They were light and golden-crispy. Perfect! My burger had a bunch of toppings like cheese and bacon and such. I have never had a tastier burger. And the beer! I was so tired from biking, I went for the huge size. Thank goodness it was just a short walk back to my B&B. Great meal, great trip! I loved Ieper so much! I would go back in a hearbeat!

They offer all the usual kebabs, chips, burgers etc plus they do fabulous pizzas and garlic bread too. Excellent value for money, free delivery within a 3 (or maybe 5, can't remember!) mile radius and free garlic bread when you buy a pizza. The one bad bit is that staff are not usually very fluent speakers of english, however they try their best and can take any orders off the menu. I highly recommend their cheesey chips in pitta bread with the home made garlic mayo - yum yum!
