When I arrived the next morning, I explained again that I didn't want the services and reiterated the situation. The staff was friendly, though clearly embarrassed. Still, the policy itself spoke volumes. Their website and advertisements say "walk-ins welcome" and "FREE consultation," yet they refused to cancel my appointment within minutes of booking. To me, that's misleading and not a good look for a company built on beauty and trust.

As far as pain goes removing the hair was painless for me but the spreading of the sugar felt a little uncomfortable. Where with waxing the application of wax is painless and the removal is uncomfortable. The main difference between the two, that I noticed is that I had less hair grow back after my first sugaring. I tried sugaring instead of waxing because my friends (in various other SoCal cities) all really enjoyed the results. And I am a fan too! The nail tech was nice and worked quickly... too quickly. They didn't trim my cuticles or the skin around my nails. I asked for an ombré nail design, which is shown on their menu and provided a picture of the exact colors I wanted. Another nail tech came and took my phone to pick colors out and just started painting them on some of my nails before the original tech had even put gel on them. It was very odd... the second tech was rushing the first and was honestly doing a sloppy job. The color ended up being super off.. it was a Christmas tree green instead of a blue- teal color. I don't blame her for that, the bottle looked like a different color than the paint. They were also streaky and completely see-through. She asked if I liked them and I told her those things, and she told me the reference picture was see through too (which it was not-I added the reference) but she still redid them which I appreciated. I picked the new color myself, which matched the reference pic more and also wasn't see-through which was way better. The airbrush was having issues, which I could tell was super frustrating to them which sucks. But they just seemed to not really know how to do it very well. They finished and rushed me out quickly without cleaning any of the gel of my skin. With airbrush they usually wipe the paint off the skin before curing it so this doesn't happen. Now it's been a real pain to try to get off. They also did not clean up the sides of my nails, which were all jagged. I had to do a full nail clean up when I got home. Thankfully I have all the stuff at home to do that. The only reason for 3-stars is that the gel x nails are properly applied and should last. Overall I was not impressed. As a new client who is paying good money (and extra for a nail design) I expect some level of care. Also now knowing how to do a proper gel manicure, it's so obvious when they cut corners and rush (no nail/cuticle prep or clean up, only one layer of paint). And maybe don't offer a service (ombré) if you aren't confident in it or don't have properly working equipment. I wanted to do something nice for myself but ended up having more of a headache in the end, and had to pay my hard earned money for that headache.

A Reminder That Good People Still Lead Good Businesses…read more I've been a client of this salon for over three years, and my experiences have always been consistently positive. Two weeks ago, I had an appointment with a newer stylist who simply wasn't the right fit for me -- the first less‑than‑ideal visit I've had here. But this review isn't about that moment. It's about how the owner, Shana, responded. After taking some time to reflect, I reached out to Shana directly. Her response was immediate, thoughtful, and genuinely attentive. She listened without defensiveness, made space for my concerns, and made me feel heard, valued, and respected as a long‑time client. I truly felt cared for. What stood out most was the professionalism and integrity with which she handled the situation. She addressed everything swiftly and sincerely, and she did so without ever making me feel guilty, responsible, or uncomfortable. Instead, she expressed gratitude that I brought the issue to her and took action right away to make things right. When I left the salon that day, I wasn't sure if I would return. RUN AWAY ! DONT WALK !…read more I booked an appointment with a stylist that was recommended by the front desk. When I booked the appointment I asked about their stylists and asked to please match me with someone who was good with long hair cuts as I had very long hair. My hair texture is simple. Straight hair but it was long. The front desk paired me with a stylist for a hair cut and blow dry . I was 20 minutes late to said appointment and I take full responsibility for that. I was fully prepared for my appointment to be cancelled without a refund on the deposit. When I arrived I could tell the stylist was annoyed which I totally understood considering my late arrival. (I did call to let them know I was running late ) Because I had booked a hair cut and blow dry, theoretically, she should have had sufficient time for the cut but perhaps not the blow dry. I was very clear that I didn't need the blow dry and that the hair cut alone would do just fine. I would have been okay with being charged for the blow dry even if it wasn't done as that was what was scheduled. Instead, the stylist accepted me and proceeded with the appointment. She was visibly annoyed which made me uncomfortable but I stayed in good faith . She was personable during the appointment. We chatted throughout but I was concerned with the way she was cutting my hair . I am not a hair stylist so I thought maybe I was over thinking it and just needed to trust the process. I was incredibly wrong. The hair was left ridiculously uneven, not the shape we discussed and left me with a "rat tail". She went up so high on the sides so that I would have to essentially cut 6 or more inches off to even everything out. I cannot prove it but I am convinced this was done on purpose as a way to get back at me for coming late. When she finished the hair cut I knew something was off but couldn't really look at it properly until I had arrived at home. Even though I knew it was off , I decided to still tip the stylist 15 dollars as a courtesy and my way of apologizing for being late. The tip was not because I felt the hair cut was done well. When I got home I saw just how bad it was. I was so upset and dumbfounded that I wanted to cry . The next day I contacted the salon to inform them of what happened. I called looking to speak to the salon owner because this was not a small mistake. The salon owner never called me personally to discuss the situation . The receptionist, who said he was the lead, handled all communication between the owner and I. I was offered to have the hair cut redone with a different stylist (I made it clear I would not feel comfortable with the initial stylist) at no extra cost to me. That didn't work out for me so I asked for a refund which they obliged. Although the owner herself wasn't responsible for my hair cut, I feel she should have called to discuss the matter with me personally . I am very disappointed not only with the stylist but with the owner for not providing better customer service. I do not recommend this hair salon and will never return again.
