I went to them with an approaching family wedding - they book appointments online (which is so helpful!), they were amazing people to work with to get my dress altered, my daughter (a bridesmaid) got her dress altered & literally saved my son (the groom) from a tux issue as the wedding approached! I wish I could give more than 5 stars! I reached out to them in mid September asking if they could turn a wedding dress into a skirt for a Halloween costume. I wasn't sure I'd they'd be available because Fall ha busier time with wedding dresses. Not only did they make it happen - it looked absolutely incredible. They worked with me in length, waistband, removing the buttons and crinoline removal (it was a process) - and bonus they reuse some for other brides. I am so glad I went with my bridal salon's recommendation to use Tara for alterations, despite her being two hours outside of where I live. Her expertise was well worth the commute for each appointment! I had sleeves added and they were not only gorgeous, but looked as though they had always been a part of the gown, they were so seamless. She also helped my sister with correcting some issues her bridal salon's seamstress had made with our mother's veil that she wore for her wedding (we got married six weeks apart from each other), and even created a new modesty panel for her on the fly and arranged for it to be ready in time for her wedding after her dissatisfaction with the one that came with the dress came up just a week prior at one of my last fittings, making her a complete superhuman lifesaver. Beyond all that she was incredibly kind, funny, and patient with me throughout the process, and quick to offer input and advice when I had any questions. I'm not good at standing up for my self but I'm not happy with what was done with the dress. the dress needed to be taken in on the top and taken out around the waist the dress is very tight and not easy to zip up. But they said it didn't need to be taken out. so its still to tight. I'm not happy wit the top eater the back of my boobs are popping out and its to low cut. I don't know that i can loose weight from now to November i don't think i can. I'm going to have to were a different dress. I spent so much money. the worse port was the straps used to hang the dress were removed and put back on with safety pins. so when I tried on the dress it still had the safety pins and i had to take them off to put the dress on. read more

I cannot recommend this place enough, especially for brides! If you need minor alternations, major alternations, literally anything at all that requires changing your dress - Tara can handle it with ease. Tara is AMAZING in both her skills and personality. She listens to your concerns/questions with patience and is just the right amount of helpful without pushing you into decisions. For example - she gives you all the info you need / things to consider, will do quick mock-ups on the spot so that you can see her suggestions, will take pictures on a phone for you which I find helpful in comparing options, etc! And she goes above and beyond to make you feel comfortable throughout the process; it was like talking with an old friend who just so happened to also an expert tailor. I am someone who has a hard time making decisions on the spot but I did so with ease at Sugarcane! I did my original bridal alternations at a different place (the place I bought my dress), which was an incredibly stressful environment and I ended up being really disappointed in the fit of my dress at the end. The top fit very strange and felt like it was going to fall off. The original place just told me to put some double sided tape on it (??). That's when I found Sugarcane Studios. Tara knew exactly what to do to fix the issues and I finally feel comfortable and ready to get married in the dress! Bonus - they are extremely upfront about the costs of alterations. They have a lists of prices that they go through with you after your first appt so that you know exactly what to expect. I wish I did my research before my first alternations process and went to Sugarcane from the beginning. Don't make my mistake!! She's also making a custom veil for me which will include some left over lace from my alterations process. I found their veils to be reasonably priced and they will literally cut them however you want! 11/10 GO SEE TARA Side note: they are fairly busy (because they are so amazing) so definitely try to get in early! read more

AMAZING! I am so happy to have found Tara. She was incredibly easy to work with and such a nice person. In addition to the typical bridal alterations (hemming, taking in the sides, shaping...etc), I worked with Tara to change the neckline of my wedding dress from a V neck to a sweetheart. Changing the neckline on my particular dress was more involved than I would have guessed, but it came out perfectly! Tara has a lot of experience in both dressmaking and alterations, so she had great suggestions and an eye for what needed to be done. And I would also add that I thought the pricing was very fair! They were able to schedule me for a fitting with Tara, do the alterations, and have me come back to be sure everything was done properly.
