I watched that video while going to the school on our way. It simply shows that we need to drop off our little ones at the door. Honestly, by that time I did not realize that it's any issue. We dropped our child off and asked him to follow the teacher. I was helping my son to take out the jacket. I was not inside the school but in front of the reception area. The front desk told me in medium harsh voice that we should not "put our legs" inside the office. We need to drop the kid off outside the door. I want to note that it was heavy raining that day and from their communication it was not clear that if they will help the child to take off the jacket. Since then we just dropped off our son at the gate and left. But believe me, even though we are not getting inside the office, we were seeing that they were either very firm or harsh and telling other parents not to get into the office. Something happened at the day before the last class, after which, we decided not to send our kid to this dance school anymore. There was a parent whose child was very young, younger than ours. The mom was helping the child to get in and was saying goodbye and took a picture of her. The front desk yelled at the parent and asked her not to take picture. The parent was nice and polite. She humbly said with a smile on her face that she was not taking picture of any other kids. The parent just saw me standing outside, and told me, "not sure, why they get so upset, when we drop off our kids." I said, "I am also not sure." One of the owners saw us, jumped to us from far away and started yelling at us that we were being rude to the front desk. I just gave her a look and told her that "I was just standing outside and was listening to the parent. I did not have any interaction with the front desk." The owner said, "okay fine, then it was not you, but her...", she pointed at the other parent. Then the owner started insult the parent. The owner tried to make a point that it's against their policy to let any parent to even get inside the office room, since there is not enough space for all parents to stand there. Honestly, I completely understand that. But the other parent just told the owner that if it was so, then this should have been communicated with us before our registration. The owner as usual, yelling, shaking her hands and told the parent that this communication was sent before registration. Although it's not my headache, but I could not see the way the parent was treated. I just simply said the owner that "the communication was sent via text with a wrong link right before the class. So many parents may have missed that and the parent is right that we should have known earlier." The owner pretended that she did not listen to me or I don't exist in that space. She was looking at her phone to look for proof to insult that other parent a bit more. The parent was very upset but she kept her voice calm but firm, was trying to show her concerns. The owner then threatened the parent to take her girl away from the class, the child does not need to participate, if the parent is complaining. The parent was still calm and said, she is not complaining, she is just showing the loopholes. I then left that place. Me and my partner we both decided that even though nothing happened to us personally, but the way other parents were treated, it's completely unacceptable. We do not want to send our child anywhere where the bare minimum manner is not present. Every parent has the right to normally pick up and drop off their kids in designated area that is convenient and comfortable for the kids. It's raining cats and dogs outside and they expect us to drop the kid at the door without letting us help the child with jacket - that's not acceptable. P. S. My personal interaction over the text with this studio was very nice. And we didn't have any argument with the owner. But it's just that we don't want to support a business that humiliates other parents.

J'Adore Dance and Wellness is the home of Salsa Babies!…read more I heard about Salsa Babies when my daughter was but a wee lassie so I registered for a session. Hot tamales Batman - so much fun! The long and the short of it is a salsa/latin dance class for moms in which your baby is snuggled to you in their baby carrier. Yuppers, your baby is your dance partner! Usually classes are once a week for 10 weeks and each class is about 1 hours. It's a great way to help you lose your baby weight, make mommy friends, socialize your child and have a great time. The classes are a bit pricey, about $125. I believe you can claim this as a child fitness credit - added incentive. J'Adore Dance and Wellness also has a number of toddler and preschool dance classes and programs that help your child develop movement skills and a love for dance. I know we'll be going to more!

As a social dancer, my favourite part about the teaching method is the focus on building blocks instead of very specific patterns. I love that the studio is committed to all three of the main dance styles one would encounter at a Latin dance event (i.e. Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba) and their monthly free vibes events are a great way for people to get a taste of the studio's curriculum and meet some new people in the mini-social held after the class. As of this year, the studio expanded into performance teams in all three dance styles, so there is something here for everyone.

Reviewing this place is difficult because it does a lot of things right, and a lot of those things…read morearen't necessarily obvious to someone who is just starting, but the TLDR is that imho, Rythms is probably the best, and fastest resource to learn Salsa and Bachata in Edmonton. Strengths: - The environ replicates battlefield conditions, so to speak, moves are introduced with variations that encourage both leads and follows to try different things and not simply repeat choreographies through rote memorization. - The classes are longer than any other studio I've tried, and there are 30 mins of music played after class for one to practice. - Excellent community, everyone is rather friendly, and there are usually quite a few people who will be up to practice after every class. - Focus is on being able to lead, and follow the moves studied, and not on merely replicating how they look. This is the biggest one for me, as understanding the principles behind the how and why of moves makes one able to do them with anyone, and not merely the other people in some particular class who remember some particular choreography. - Classes are much more frequent than in other studios, allowing for faster progress if one desires, there are 2 Salsa and 3 Bachata classes a week, as well as 4 free socials every month, which have rather decent attendance. -Very, very punctual and professional: In the time I've attended (about 3 months now), I have not experienced a single class being cancelled, or starting late, for any reason. I have been very pleasantly surprised by this. - 50 dollars for every class offered in a 30 day period is quite a steal. That's up to seven two hour classes a week. Weaknesses: - The area the studio is in is not the best, and the place can be hard to find, there is a sticker on the outside door, but that's it. It does show in Google Maps, though. - I swear the washrooms were in the Silent Hill games.

I have been studying dance since I was 5 years old (thanks, mom!), so the first thing I did when I moved to Edmonton was find a dance studio. One of my girlfriends recommended Marr Mac. I love this studio's location: it is at the back of the building occupied by Movie Studio and is very discreet. The studio itself is in the basement and consists of several large dance rooms. There are hardwood floors and wall-to-wall mirrors in every room.I signed up for musical theater, hip-hop and jazz. Additionally, there are ballet and tap classes. What can I say about the intructors? These people bring out the best in their students and make everyone believe in themselves. They are quick to provide encouraging words and to commend, and they never reprimand or discourage. There were several older women in my hip-hop class who confessed that their feelings of inadequacy upon starting the class disappeared as the classes progressed, thanks to the instructor's professionalism and encouraging words. I didn't get a chance to experience it first hand but as far as I know, Marr Mac's students get to perform onstage at various venues and to take dance trips abroad. Our musical theater teacher mentioned that once we master our routine, we will get to perform onstage. I wish I stayed at Marr Mac long enough to see this happen. Unfortunate circumstances made me stop attending this wonderful studio. I am thinking about resuming the classes very shortly.

I grew up dancing as a kid but after high school, there really wasn't anything further I could do at my home studio, so I stopped dancing altogether. A few years passed and I missed dancing so much and decided to search and see if any studios in the city offered adult classes. That's when I stumbled upon Dance Code. From Ballet to Hip Hop to dancing in heels, and from beginner to intermediate to advanced levels, this studio really has so much to offer the adult dance community. All classes are drop-in and you can buy an unlimited monthly class pass, so you can try them all!! The owner, Sarah Torkoly, has created something really special at this studio. I previously left a positive review earlier in my training; after completing over 2 years in the…read morecompetitive ballroom dance program, my perspective has evolved after the full experience, and here are as follows below: I trained at Elite Dance Studio as an adult in the Pro-Am competitive ballroom dance program for approximately 2.5 years. During that time, I invested significant time and financial resources into private lessons, competitive practices, and competitions (local and out-of-province). I practiced consistently, reviewed videos, took detailed notes, and actively asked for feedback on progression. The instructors are technically skilled, and the studio emphasizes discipline and competitive standards. For adult competitive students, here are important considerations: * There was no written or objective progression framework outlining typical timelines between levels * Advancement criteria were not formally documented and relied on instructor assessment * Progress discussions were primarily verbal rather than structured in measurable benchmarks * Costs can escalate beyond private lessons (competitive practices, mock events, visiting coaches, Pro-Am competitions, etc.) * Dance competition expenses can range approximately $1,000-$3,500+ per event, excluding travel and accommodations This model may work well for students who are comfortable with open-ended timelines and long-term financial commitment. For adults seeking clearly defined benchmarks, written evaluation criteria, and predictable budgeting, I recommend clarifying expectations in detail before committing to an intensive competitive track. Ultimately, I chose to step away because the financial structure and progression model no longer aligned with my personal goals. This review is shared to provide transparency for future competitive students so they can make informed decisions.
