Used to be my favorite course but I will not be playing there anymore. Staff are jerks and the marshals rush you the entire round. Makes golfing even Harder then it already is. One round the marshal flagged us down on the very last hole and told us we couldn't finish And had to head back to the club house. I asked since you are not allowing me to finish what I paid for then do I get some money back and he replied "that's not how it works" our round was going on 3 hours which is pretty fast if you ask me but not fast enough for the marshals i guess. Play here at your own risk. Like I said, It used to be my favorite course in this area and I would play every weekend All summer and fall. They lost a loyal customer. read more

Had an 11:30ish tee time for 4 for a week. We were told to start the back 9 due to some type of league play on the front. Started off good, course is decent for early spring. Got through the back nine with little wait time. Pulled around to start the front nine and carts were stacked up waiting to tee off. There were eight carts ahead of us waiting to tee off! We sat for 10 minutes and called it a day. Went to the clubhouse and told them. All they wanted to do is give us a credit for 9 holes for a later date. There is a negative review I saw yesterday for the same thing. They are overbooking to get the money and leave you hanging. Dont think for a minute that they made an innocent mistake. All we wanted to do was play 18 and have a good time. Its a terrible business practice and we wont be back. read more

Played the course for the first time after reading about all the improvements they've done over the past few years . And Sugar creek lived up to all the praise . Very challenging in every way . The layout of this course, is one of the best in the area... unfortunately the low price point prohibits them from being able to give it the proper care, greens are nice, that's where it's getting the one star! But from tee box to green, every single hole, there is no fairway... the rough and fairway are all the same length, no matter how good your tee shot is, your playing from grass taller than your ball... if they made this place $60 a round it could become one of the best courses in the area... I'm an avid golfer who plays championship style courses 3-4 times a week, from the bluffs, to far oaks, to Bellerieve, and Old Warson... this layout is better than all of them... but how do you play golf with no fairway... read more

Hands down the worst greens I've ever seen. The front nine had a decent design but the greens ruined the experience. And on top of it, two holes used temporary greens in the middle of the fairway. Keep in mind we are already into June and still missing two greens. The highlight will be the service. Everyone at the clubhouse was very friendly and helpful. Friend of mine that I was visiting in STL found a Groupon for this place for a twosome w/ cart and range time for under $40. A pretty good deal until I saw the course. That deal got better. She was a monstrous course woven through the hills, woods, and local neighborhood. She kicked our butts, took balls, and even killed my putter with the help of the golf gods (thankfully waiting till the last hole) but WE loved the beating she gave us. We will be back after getting more of our golf rust worked out! read more

I've been to this course a handful of times and each time I've had a great experience. I'm fairly new to golf so i personally find the course a little challenging which i like. I love the layout of the course. Tons of fun holes. I never feel like I'm playing the same hole over and over. Every time I've been the course was beautiful and very well taken care of. Staff was awesome, but the course is lacking. The tee boxes weren't cut, some of the greens were dead from what looked like lack of water, and there was no indication (that I knew of) for the pin position. They have a par 3 on the front 9 that is so elevated, you can only make out the top of the flag. A couple holes later, another par 3 is the exact opposite -- the teen boxes are elevated so much, you can barely see the green below you. The staff is great -- always really friendly, but the course needs some work. Pros: nice staff Cons: needs better maintenance, has a few poorly laid out holes read more

I was a member here for 2 years in 2011/12. The course has new management (a good thing) as the course was really aging badly when I played there. The course was built within a subdivision and the hills of High Ridge. It makes for some unusual holes and some of them, like the completely uphill par 3 and then completely downhill par 3 seemed to be done as filler to make an 18 hole course. The fairways have always been spotty with grass. Tee boxes are often not in good shape. Greens vary in condition and I'd call them fair at best. Pace of play at this course is often very slow as well. They lack marshalls to keep things moving. The staff is pretty nice in the clubhouse but honestly, I wouldn't play this course at full price and spending anything over $20 is too much. read more

I had a terrible experience, if I could rate it zero stars I would. We were having a fun day on the course until the owner came up blaming us for wrecking the course which we did not recall and she refused to tell us the details of what we did, we were harassed by her from that hole to the clubhouse and were banned from the course with no explanation. Would not recommend golfing here if you want to take the chance on experiencing the same thing. read more

Wow this place has changed for the better. You can tell it is under new management. In the past the course wasn't maintained well and the greens were pretty shotty. This time the fairways were green and the greens were nice. When we went into the clubhouse one of the new owners was there and he thanked us personally for coming out to play. Real friendly guy. Golf course has come a long way from a couple years ago. The Marshall and owner are very kind and generous. Golf course isnt the best but because of the hospitality I will absolutely come back. 5 stars are earned because you pay for what you get and the atmosphere is great for beginners and intermediate golfers. Mike and Nick are always amazing, fun, respectful to us and our kids. They make us feel welcome every time and friendly service. When they are not there, the lady that is working the inside, is not nice or friendly, it's getting old and frustrating considering we live here in the subdivision and bought a golf card. I don't want to be negative, but the course and the people here don't deserve someone that's not friendly, the owners are doing great keeping it nice and busy just wish she could be friendly as well. read more

I love this course. You won't find a more accommodating and caring staff. They continue to try to get this course back up to par. The greens are a lot better this year and moving pretty good. Don't ever use their online site to book a tee time! States nonrefundable---yesterday we tried to tee off in the rain several times and the weather only got worse. Would not let us reschedule, we lost our $40 and never got to play. Poor customer service....we weren't asking for a refund, we just wanted to reschedule. Will never go back! read more

This course is subpar all around, we booked a tee time on the website and they didn't have it and my group had to tee of an hour late, the front desk staff was friendly and helpful, however when we got on the course they were very hit and miss on the quality, there were several greens that were terrible (covered in sand, multiple holes dug on the green, long grass). Then the manager was driving on the course and one of our golfers was in someone's back yard looking for their ball and he came over and literally yelled at our entire group about golf etiquette, meanwhile he came flyin up the course while I was about to shoot my shot. He was ignorant and disrespectful, the deal we got to play was decent but the issues we encountered while playing left a terrible taste in my mouth and I won't play there again and I will tell everyone I know not to play there as well. read more

Not sure what the problem with this place is - lack of irrigation? Lack of groundskeeping staff? Every single one of the greens were horrible, with bare spots, dead grass and sometimes weeds - I had one chip check up on a patch of dirt on the green which diverted the shot by a good 10%. A majority of the tee boxes were dirt with little grass. The fairways were in decent shape. Several of the ponds looks like you could walk over then - brackish-looking water. There were several interesting holes - the layout is fine. We paid $35 for 18 for 2 with a Groupon. Not sure I'd be willing to pay more then that. read more
