Hi Everyone,
We hope…read moreyou and your Family are all feeling fantastic, and you are all enjoying your lives together!
Family is the theme here because Eats & Sweets was a Family friendly restaurant. First because of their decorations at Halloween which I have reviewed in the past, but were not up yet? To be fair on October 10th, they still maybe coming, as we are unsure.
We were greeted with an Italian Specials menu outside on their sidewalk black board which in reference to the Italian fare, is new. So kudos to Eats and Sweets for offering more variety of entrees to your patrons.
However, it is a fact that their Family friendly priced menu is not as we have found it, in the past. We found that with a Flounder and Shrimp platter, a Flounder platter only, and a Cheese Steak, all with one side each, and then including a coke and unsweetened tea for lunch was $103.00 with tax, tip, out the door. While I feel our restaurant Owners pain as they can really can do nothing to stop the price explosion for food in the US economy which we all facing everywhere, our price, got my attention for lunch.
Our service à la Miss DeAnn was terrific as she was friendly, personable, very patient, and fast after we ordered which we have always found here at Eats and Sweets because their food is served very friendly and hot, which we appreciate very much. But I would highly recommend that their chefs reduce their use of sodium. Why?
Because as I looked around their restaurant, I did see a good demographic age mix but the Baby Boomers were in the majority. Salt kills us all faster at any age, and for Eats and Sweets own economic survival, and longevity, I would recommend, in my opinion, they reduce their high sodium content on all of their food. Frankly, the salt content over rode all other tastes, my buds were able to discern in both my entree, and roasted vegetables. I mean there are salt shakers on the table, right?
I asked for a broiled piece of Flounder and is was perfectly cooked, thank you. In all fairness, I did NOT say "no salt" on any of my food, which I almost always remember to do when ordering my meals, so I am at fault. My infectiously joyous and show stopping beautiful dining companion's fried flounder, shrimp with onion rings was delicious and she recommends it highly! Our third party at home, felt their cheese steak, which was carry out, lacked balance, as they felt all they could taste, were green peppers.
Their deserts as always, are to die for! So, your sweet tooth will feel like it died, and went to heaven, because they are always, that awesome, hence, their name.
Is Eats and Sweets worth a visit? Yes, but we highly recommend you are, on your game, when ordering, so you can ensure their chefs are aware of your taste preferences. Again, I forgot to say, no salt, on all my food, and our first ever ordered Cheese Steak, we are writing off, to a learning experience.
So with our menu caveats above, their price now, is about average, after our COVID economy, rolled right into our two more years of significantly reduced inflation economy, for a total of six years in a row. And yes, while inflation has been cut by 55 to 60% in the last two years, all of our prices do not come down to what they were before our 9% inflation has occurred. Which to most who understand, owning a business economics, is in line with what most of us are finding in almost every restaurant we patron now.
However, with all of this due consideration, taken into account, we still recommend you take your wide ride for a fast glide in to Eats and Sweets as the food is good, the Service is excellent, their deserts are "to die for", and because you will be satisfied you did as you wipe that Black Forrest with its cherry filled layers and white icing from your face, as you respond to your companion's "You missed a spot Honey", as you get up to leave. S...o...,
Enjoy!
