Just an okay haircut. I wanted a bunch of longish layers and specified I like razor cuts best. My…read morehair is fine but a razor frees up the curl I have in the best way. That's not so much on trend I know. Hardly anyone uses a razor anymore. She just point cut it and the layers are pretty heavy. They're not blended in very much at all. It needed at least texturizing shears if a razor wasn't in her skill set. It was cute when I left but once I got home and styled as normal my straightener revealed the blending issues. But it was cheap so no biggie. I can curl it or wear it up for awhile. Cute salon though if you're looking for something simple. EDIT: The manager reached out to me and offered me a recut. It looks so much better now! I should have just given them a call in the first place but I felt like since a week had gone by I had missed the window for a redo. No picture for the after unfortunately since I got caught in a massive downpour immediately after. But definitely so much better!

I have been a loyal customer of Jovi Salon for over two years, returning regularly for appointments…read moreand trusting the salon with my hair. That history makes this experience especially disappointing. A few weeks before my appointment, I had my service changed to a move-up only because I did not need a shampoo. During that conversation, I was never told that I would need to arrive with completely dry hair. Had anyone explained that requirement, I simply would have come with dry hair. On the day of my appointment, I called the salon before leaving because I wanted to confirm that arriving with damp hair would be okay. No one answered, so I left for my appointment. While I was driving, the salon returned my call, and I answered. I explained that I would be arriving approximately four minutes late, which was still within their stated five-minute grace period, and I wanted to confirm that my damp hair would not be an issue. That is when I was told the service could not be performed. This was not a situation where I ignored instructions or failed to show up. It was a communication issue caused by information that was never provided to me when the appointment was modified. When I spoke with the salon manager, Leah, I hoped we could have a constructive conversation about the misunderstanding. Instead, I felt like I was repeatedly interrupted while she focused on explaining the policy rather than listening to my concerns. Although she ultimately waived the cancellation fee, she also informed me that I would no longer be allowed to book appointments at the salon. After being a loyal client for over two years, being dismissed over what was clearly a misunderstanding was incredibly disappointing. There was no effort to acknowledge that the communication from the salon had been incomplete or to work toward a reasonable resolution. This experience also brought to mind other concerns I have had over the years. On multiple visits, I was seated at the center table rather than in one of the traditional styling stations while paying the same premium prices as other clients. While I understand there may be operational reasons for the seating arrangements, it often left me feeling like I wasn't receiving the same salon experience. Additionally, there were many appointments where my stylist was working on two or three clients at the same time. I recognize that this may be common practice in some salons, but as a client paying premium prices, it often felt like my appointment was fragmented. Instead of receiving focused attention throughout my visit, there were frequent interruptions while other clients were being serviced. Over time, it left me feeling that the level of attention and overall experience did not reflect the price I was paying. I understand that businesses need policies, but those policies should be supported by clear communication, consistency, and a willingness to work with loyal clients when misunderstandings occur. Instead, after trusting this salon with my hair for over two years, I was told I could no longer book appointments because of a misunderstanding that could have been avoided with better communication. I appreciated that the cancellation fee was waived. However, I was surprised that instead of treating this as a misunderstanding and clarifying expectations for future appointments, the solution was to permanently refuse future appointments. I don't write negative reviews lightly, especially for a business I've supported for years. Unfortunately, this experience left me feeling unheard, undervalued, and unwelcome. I hope this feedback encourages the salon to improve communication with clients and to handle misunderstandings with the same care and professionalism that customers expect when they invest in premium services.

I was recommended the salon through Reddit and they were actually very quick to respond…read more The salon is very hipster, slightly retro, but very bright. They have really soft couches if you're there to wait for someone else getting their hair done, and just everything is so aesthetically pleasing. I showed up for a 15 minute consultation with Aloura. She did project a little higher in case we needed more products, which I appreciated so I wasn't thrown off at the final payment. Day of service, she was really nice, really meticulous, and very knowledgeable about the questions I had. She was patient, and she even brought over a little snack cart to choose from which was really fun. Overall, we're really happy with the hair and we would come back to see her specifically when time comes! Thank you Aloura!

Visited this salon a week ago for starter locs. Not gonna lie, I was a little late cause I got the…read morelocation confused, but the person doing my hair--Tiff--didn't really seem all that bothered. I told her I was new to locs and I just wanted to have a conversation on loc maintence/how she's retwisting, what she retwists with, how long locs can take to dread etc. Right off the bat, she tells me: "didn't you do any research beforehand about locs?" Um yeah, I did, but I'd think a loctician would know more than some internet article? Anyway, she starts doing my hair and instead of navigating me through the process of what she's doing, she goes right in and starts comb coiling my hair with GEL. I'm not a fan of gel, nor was I aware that she was doing coils; nevertheless, I figured gel would be helpful for the sake of maintaining the locs and I thought that coils would look like locs so it wasn't all that bad. The REAL kicker was the fact that she would DRY DETANGLE my hair. Immediately sirens went off in my mind; like , you're combing dry hair without product/water? Hair breakage central. I asked her, "hey, could you apply water or product first and THEN detangle?" Her response was dismissive, that she was "already" doing it, mind you, she was only using water and gel for the comb coils NOT the detangling portion. Also she had apparently ordered food because when it came to the office, she immediately stopped doing my hair, went to the back of the salon to munch on her chicken and I KNOW it was chicken because she started eating it while doing my hair. I don't know about you, but chicken grease and hair grease doesn't sound like a good combination. After about two hours, she finishes my head, I leave and about a few days later, I start noticing the back start to unravel. Now from my research, I knew this would happen but when I asked her about the potential of my hairstyle unraveling, she said that it "wouldn't unravel any more than a normal style". Sure. Whatever you say. Only reason why I'm giving three stars is because my hair smelled really good after leaving the salon; she used rose water I believe and tea tree oil on my head so I looked and felt good. The parting was good too, but that's about it. If you're looking for a decent starter loc place and you're comfortable with a little unprofessionalism, then this is your place. Though for $95, maybe more professionalism should've been present.

We talked about styling my hair which she was on board at first. After about 30 mins went by and suddenly, she said, I forgot I need to pick up my grandson. She started asking the other stylists, "What time does the school let out? I need to get my grandson. The time was 3:15pm and her and the other stylists agreed that 3:45pm was the time she needed to be at the school to get her grandson. I left the salon around 3:30pm. I walked out of the salon looking like wooly bush woogie (my hair looked as if it still needed to be done). I drove away and waited in the parking lot until around 4:00pm and she never left to go pick up anyone. So why the lies.... I had extra money to get the style completed. If she did not know how to style hair, she could have told me. I learned my lesson. I knew I should have left from the moment she peeked her head from the back of the salon.
