When I was referred to Cardio Rehab, I was told that the insurance company has authorized over 70…read morevisits with no copay. Eventually I was asked for my insurance card again and told that they needed to check with insurance again. I gave my card and continued therapy. Many weeks went by with no further discussion from this office. I was finally told that I owe $40 per visit if I continued. I immediately stopped rehab as it is not a reasonable charge. I received a bill for almost $500 that I owe for Cardio Rehab copayments. So they took over two months to check this and bill me for their incompetence. I initially paid some on the portal and eventually it disappeared on the portal. I was contacted for a follow-up visit. I did not call to request this visit. Then billing called, I told them that I made payments until they removed it from the portal. They asked if I could pay the $35 copay for the visit which I replied yes. I also agreed to address the rehab bill. When I came for my appointment, the room was half full of patients waiting. I stood at the window as the receptionist scrolled for 5 minutes on her phone. She then asked for the copay and the rehab bill. I said I talked to billing and will address it with them. I asked if the Dr is on time. Being well known for having patients wait for hours. Being disabled, I made it clear I will not wait a long time. I asked again and was told "I think he is on time" I informed them that I would pay the copay on my way out which I have done before as I will not wait if it becomes too long. My disability prevents me from sitting in their uncomfortable waiting room for hours. I was then told by the second wonderful receptionist that I was not to be seen until I paid this bill. At that point I left. I don't know who trains or runs these receptionists, however they are one of the most unprofessional, rude group that gives this practice a look of nasty, miserable people. I have no issues with the doctors or back end staff and have discussed this with Christine, the office manager, on a few occasions. Did these receptionists believe I was going to run out of the door after my visit? Were they trying to shame me in front of the whole waiting room? It's disgusting behavior. I will be taking this to the NY State Department of Financial Services which has taken over the NY State Dept of Insurance. I will take this complaint to any other agency I see fit. these billing practice of letting me continue attending rehab for months before informing me of the changes that could have been done in a single day after asking for my insurance card again is outrageous. I have been to this office previously where I asked if the Doctor was on time and was told that it would be a long wait and I informed them I would not wait and reschedule. This was not a problem. I have also been to this office where the receptionists sit around having a great time while patients sit for hours. Why not call patients and inform them that the schedule to running very late? Do they fear the loss of precious money if they don't have that captive audience? There is no excuse for this inconsiderate behavior. The excuse of emergencies is tired and used way too often. It's also not believable when the staff is sitting around chatting instead of informing the other patients of a supposed emergency. On one of my appointments, I sat there waiting for an hour and when finally asked I was told the Doctor hadn't even walked in the door yet. Do they really have that much contempt for their patients that they would let them sit there knowing the Doctor hasn't even walked through the door and is already over an hour late? While their behavior at the desk will probably fall on deaf ears. I will provide that feedback or complaint where necessary or available. My only regret is what I said out loud to myself "Fuck it I'll just leave". After being berated in front of the entire waiting room for a billing issue that was already discussed with the billing department, I was taken aback by their attempt to humiliate me.

Doctors seem competent but office staff is another story. Absolutely atrocious administration…read more Billed my account incorrectly and waited almost 3 years before bringing it to my attention. Then they made it my problem to resolve before sending me to collection. Then after I spent dozens of hours correcting their work, I continued to follow up with the insurance company to track down a "lost" check that the provider had already deposited. It's almost comical at how poorly this was handled and how I was responsible for fixing this. I would not recommend unless every other cardiologist on LI closes
